Can I just say many thanks to Free Eternal Summer and Sousuke for being a character who shows to NOT push too hard for your dreams? A lot of times we’re told to keep pushing, to keep going, to make our dreams come true.
But there’s a balance.
If you push too hard you can really hurt yourself, and not just if your dream is to be an athlete, but any dream. For instance, I work from home and write and make crafts, then promote my work and sell things at conventions. I figure out what conventions to go to and send out all of our information to try and get a table there. I also do freelance writing jobs, too. There are times where I stay up all night to get stuff done. There are times where I forget to eat because I’m working. There are times at conventions where I get up crazy early to get ready, even if I stay up crazy late beforehand. There are times where I just don’t see friends because I spend every moment I can getting ready. I’m working hard to make my dreams come true, but at the same time… you need to know when to stop and breathe.
Don’t overexert yourself. Don’t wear yourself out. Don’t take it too far. No matter how great it feels to reach your goals, you want to be able to actually reach them happily, not miserably.
You hear all these “you’re not a real fan unless” and it lists a hundred things, but I met a dude today who saw my Deadpool pin and asked what my favorite story arc was, and I explained that while I loved Deadpool, I was new to Marvel (I only really got into it a year and a half ago) and hadn’t been able to find a lot of the comics. Instead of making a face or a derogatory comment, he just offered to send me all the stuff he had. That is a true fan.
That I will jump into bed with you because you “pity” me.
That I have to be attracted to you if you are attracted to me.
slow clap
Oh god, this, yes, you are not doing anyone any favors by gracing a fat girl with your presence because she’s the “fat girl,” therefore, she should be honored that anyone is even talking to her.
the idea of hayato building the courage to give makoto a love note makes my heart explode
Crayons? Check.
Paper? Check.
Envelope? Check
Heart shaped sticker? Double check.
With fine, child-like penmanship, Hayato began to write the words he was too afraid to say out loud. He wished he was like the other children in the swimming group, the ones who openly commented on how wonderful Coach Tachibana was. Former coach, technically, he didn’t teach their classes anymore. However, he did keep his word, and every Sunday he showed up to watch them practice.
It was silly, really, because Tachibana-san treated them all equally, but Hayato liked to think that he smiled the most at him, extra proud that he was taking steps to enjoy the water again.
It didn’t take long to write the letter, but it did take long to seal the envelope. It took even longer to put the note in the bag, especially when Kisumi caught site of it and asked what it was. "N-nothing,“ Hayato said quickly, equipping himself with a bright smile to try and distract his big brother. It worked, mostly, but Kisumi couldn’t stop chuckling, for some reason.
Once practice was over the children immediately surrounded Tachibana-san, who smiled and took time out to speak to all of them. Hayato kept the envelope behind his back, tiny hands shaking as he waited for the right moment, his nerves making his stomach feel uneasy. Normally, the children talked forever, but today they all headed home rather quickly. Too quickly, because now Hayato was alone with him.
"Have a good night,” he said with that smile of his, and suddenly Hayato was tempted to call the whole thing off. There was no way he could do this, and even if he could, would it mean anything? Tachibana-san probably got letters like this all the time, why would Hayato’s mean something? "Are you all right?“
Hayato blinked, his eyes widening when he realized that they were watering. No, no no, he wasn’t really about to cry, right? Not about this, of all things. He already broke down in the water with Tachibana-san there was no reason to do it again. However, thinking back on it, if he could face that he could certainly face this, right? With a deep breath Hayato thrusted the envelope into Tachibaba-san’s hands, "F-for you.”
“Oh? What is-”
But Hayato was already running off.

Dear Coach Tachibana
Dear Tachibana-san,
I love you more than water. I love you more than swimming. I love you more than the cookies my mom bakes. They’re really good cookies, Kisumi-niisan eats a lot of them. I want to bring you cookies! I miss you being our coach. I want to swim with you again.
my favorite thing in stories is when the antagonist doesn’t die, but instead they realize they were being kind of a stupid dick (maybe because the protagonist saved them or something) and then they have to kind of awkwardly tag along with the heroes in order to make up for their mistakes and gradually become slightly less evil
Isn’t that most of Goku’s friends? Didn’t he fight like all of them at one point or they didn’t get along with him for a bit then he Kamehameha'ed his way into their hearts?
