Anonymous asked: Who is your cosplay idol?

I have a bunch of cosplayers who I love, there’s actually a list here of people who are really supportive and who I follow or who others have recommended (and it’s an ongoing list so I always want to add to it).

I don’t have an “idol,” really, or someone who I hope to be like someday. There’s so many talented people in the community that it’s hard to be like, “This one is THE ONE who I aspire to be like.”  I mean I go from, “Oh man that looks amazing,” to, “OMG THEY’RE COSPLAYING MY OTP,” so there’s not just one.

So I just aspire to be the best I can be  :)

Was so happy to go to the award ceremony and learn that:

1.  They changed the program name to Women and Gender Studies to be more inclusive.

2.  There are way more classes, scholarship programs, and study abroad opportunities available than when I was there (I graduated in 2006)

3.  The amount of faculty outside of the program who are connected to it (like Business professors and things like that)

4.  The number of men who are part of the program.

5.  Me being the first alumni to get this award.

6.  My former adviser, while reading my bio, had someone hold up my books.

7.  My former adviser trying to pronounce Vegeta (since I did a fanfiction shout out) and cosplay.  Vegeta didn’t get too mangled though, but I imagine the Prince of Saiyans would not have been pleased.

8.  Me having an entourage.  Thanks to my mama Helen Berry, my great-aunt Peggie Steward, Sue Pridemore, my uncle and his friend for coming and sitting in the front row and cheering the loudest like you always do  :)

All and all, it was a great day, and I’ll have better pictures later since my family took more than me, but check out how sweet this plaque is!  I expected a sheet of paper but oh no, Women and Gender Studies don’t mess around!
