Happy New Year, everyone :)
doctorscissors-deactivated20160 asked: Will I have the pleasure of seeing you at Ohayocon?
Sadly no :( I didn’t get in an application for an artist alley table in time. I did try for Colossalcon though :) *fingers crossed*

Reflecting on 2013 as it comes to a close. A lot happened this year, and it hasn’t all been easy, but overall I think it was worth it and it helped pave the way for 2014.
I got published, which has been really great and really difficult. It’s a lot of hard work, and I’m still working at it, but it’s helped me grow as a writer and helped me work at what I want for myself. I really do want to make this work, and I want my writing to be something memorable. I want people to love my characters, to hate my characters, to love to hate my characters, to laugh, to cry, to smile, to yell, to just… to do everything.
I went to more conventions than ever, which had a pretty surprising outcome. I never, ever thought I’d be a voice in the geek community. When I decided to wear Princess Peach for what I thought would be the last time, I never expected it to turn out the way it did. I never thought I’d end up writing that article for xoJane about plus sized cosplay, nor did I expect the huge response it has AND still gets. I never went into cosplay thinking I’d be some sort of role model that someone would look up to, but going into 2014, there’s so much I want to do in the geek community now. I want to be that black, plus sized, geeky girl, you know? I want to be that, “Cosplay what you want,” person, for women like me, for women not like me, for men, for just… everyone, really. There are a lot of people who are afraid to be who they are, so I want to be that person they can look at like, “Well hell I want to go out there, too.”
I want to be this name that people know. For writing. For cosplay. For art. For everything I do. That’s how I’m starting my 2014, because of how 2013 went :)
And also, randomly, I never ever thought I’d have to start thinking about my wedding. We jokingly said, after the publishing stuff began, that the only thing missing in 2013 is for them to legalize gay marriage in our state. Then they did. Wow.
So farewell to 2013. It’s been up, it’s been down, it’s been everything. But most of all it’s been important, and I am bringing that into my 2014. Thanks to 2013, and to all of you <3 Happy New Year!
Good morning everyone, today our publisher has finally revealed their fanclub which can get you access to special items concerning our book and many others. As part of this, an interview with one of our main characters: Randall Fagan is on the site!
Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Randall Fagan, a certified Hunter! Mr. Fagan, thank you for meeting with me!Really, you don’t need to be that formal. You can just call me Fagan. I don’t use Randall, you can think of it as a… secret identity thing.Ahahaha, sorry about that, I’ll just call you Fagan from now on. Now, can you explain what it is that you do? What is a Hunter, exactly?I would say it’s like a police force, but I’m going to get in trouble for that. So let’s just go with we’re the people who hunt down the monsters and demons that people don’t want to acknowledge exist. So you’re saying that demons and monsters actually exist? Come on, you must be joking!Check out this interview with one of our characters!
Are you saying that demons and monsters actually exist? Well yes, yes they do. Character interview from our very own Randall Fagan!

anchoredprincesscos asked: Hi again friend ^_^ got a question to ask you! I'm not so into the know of video games to much lately but other than final fantasy and Zelda characters can you suggest to me some video game characters to cosplay? Don't matter to me how popular or underrated they are neither. :) thank you for your time!
Hey sweetie :) As far as video games or any cosplay for that matter, I strongly believe that you should cosplay whoever you want. I mostly feel like this because I did the whole, “cosplaying to match my friends,” thing and it didn’t work out so well. I pretty much cosplayed a character they were like, “OMG you have to cosplay her,” so we could complete the group, but I wasn’t into the series we were cosplaying at all so it really fell flat. I didn’t know how to pose, and I pretty much knew nothing about the character.
So I guess if I recommend someone to you, you should really look into the character and see if you actually like them. Don’t just cosplay them because I’m like, “OMG YOU COULD SO PULL THIS OFF!” If I say that, then go and see who the character is. Try and play the game their from if you can, or at least watch some youtube videos. They might end up being a character you don’t click with at all, which you should turn down immediately. The worst thing you can do is cosplay someone you don’t like.
With that in mind, there are so many characters in Zelda and Final Fantasy to choose from already. If those are the games you know, you’ve already got yourself a vast library of characters. If those kinds of games are your thing, then I would suggest looking into games that are similar (Kingdom Hearts comes to mind, or the Tales series, or even Persona games) because if you enjoy the game, you’ll probably find a character you like.

“You’re like the whitest black person I know”
“I don’t even see you as black”
“Haha your’re an Oreo get it”
“You don’t talk ghetto like other black people, you speak proper English”
“I didn’t know you were smart!”
My entire academic and professional life summed up in a post. smh
“You sound white,” because I don’t use slang.
“You act white,” because I like anime, video games, and other geekery.
This. Makes. My. Skin. Crawl.
Like I make jokes about stupid crap like this with my friends, but that’s because they’re my friends and they realize how STUPID this is.
