So today episode of 11 of free! airs then one more ep then it’s over and hopefully a second season… but let’s never forget

The best part about this
Is that when the anime was officially announced we were all like “Who the fuck is this megane”
Now we’re like “oh my god, I forgot Rei wasn’t part of the original.”
I wonder, like, what that meeting was like?
When this ad aired and we went nuts, what the studio meeting was like.
Like, “Oh damn, we should make this into a series.”
“Hey there, tumblr already categorized them for us.”
“Let’s throw in a curve ball.”
“What’s the one thing missing from this?”
“Deep seated love/hate relationship between two of the boys?”
“A sad back story?”
“Yes there’s that, and we’ll add that, but we’re missing… megane.”
“Megane?”
“Megane.”
Then Rei is in the longer trailer and we’re like, “Oh so serious megane,” then in the opening you see Nagisa jump on him and we’re like, “Shota + serious megane = OTP!”
Then the megane couldn’t swim. And wore a speedo. And ended up being the best thing ever because he was so derpy, but then also very important, almost drowning and bring up Makoto’s fears then later calling Rin out and just… uunf!
Then remember when we first saw the opening, and Rin wasn’t standing with the boys, and had on a different jacket? And we were like, “Huh… maybe he transfers to the team or something?” But Rin wasn’t on the same team (whut?) and had left a long time ago (whut?) and Haru had quit swimming because of him (whut?!) and then “I’ll never swim with you again (WHUT?!) And suddenly the tsundere had a reason for his tsundere-ness right away in the second episode and just… then Makoto AKA "everyone’s mom” is just so lovely, and Nagisa is a little shit but we love him so much!
Then Rin’s team had a shota of its own and the wonderful Captain Sexy Pants, who turned into serious captain-san even with his adorable crush on Gou. He like made a record time (damn!) and even went uber serious and took Rin off the relay (whoa!). Then there was Captain pizza delivery Macklemore and former model teacher-chan and Gou. Gou Gou Gou. She is tumblr, she is us, because “biceps triceps boys are so pretty my goodness!” But at some point she stops being us and you love her to pieces and want Rin to acknowledge her existence and just… just… suddenly 11 episodes have gone by and we all went from “pretty swimming boyz this series is gonna be full of lulz I’ll watch like one episode and it’ll have no substance” to lots of tears and feelings and begging for a second season because we love all of these characters.
And posts like this remind you that, once upon a time, this was a 31 second video.

For what it’s worth, I’m 24 and I don’t intend on stopping anytime soon :) I mean, as people we generally dont come into real adult money until we’re in our mid-20’s anyway, so I feel like I’ve really just been able to break out of my cosplay shell in the last year.
Also, don’t let anyone stop you or make you feel like you can’t do something. Despite that I have to deal with trolly buttholes fairly frequently, I can tell you I receive 10 times that in overwhelming support for standing up for myself and doing what I love. So those people who are naysayers are in the minority.
So don’t be discouraged, do what you want!
Speaking as someone who just turned 30 in July? Cosplay to your heart’s content. I’m 30 and still dress like a Disney princess :) Age isn’t something that should discourage you from cosplay. Nothing should discourage you from cosplay.
Hell, my mom is about to turn 60 and has agreed to cosplay the villain from Princess and the Frog to match my Tiana if we go to a con together next year. She’s really excited about it and she loves what we do. I talk to her about our costumes and how we makes them, and I talk to her about my art and my writing, and she loves all of it. She’s my biggest fan! And she wants to be part of this whole thing.
So yeah, 30? Puhleeeze! One of my favorite cosplays that I saw at ACEN this last year was an elderly man dressed as Mario who turned his walker into Mario’s kart. So yeah, 30 ain’t nothin’, you’ve only just begun :)

The hunter watched as the shadows pulled back like a receding wave of dark black. A figure stepped out of the shadows, the waves parting for him like a curtain. Its feet were silent against the uneven concrete, gently touching the floor like a trained dancer. It was tall and skinny, the type of thinness that reminded Alix of news reports of war torn countries where the people looked like they never ate. Despite its malnourished appearance no bones showed through his skin, but the texture of its flesh almost looked like a frozen liquid, small ripples flowing down its arms and chest. Its skin was a color similar to runny ink pens, the black seeming to bleed into the concrete. Its eyes were hollow, missing pupils, and deep like endless black holes that made Alix wonder how the creature could see in front of him.
In contrast to its creepy, elongated features two large ears flapped down around its head, giving the creature a strange resemblance of a playful puppy, something that could be trusted — but Alix knew better. To think that creatures like this shadow dog — the closest thing that Alix could associate the demon with — sparked nightmarish stories of demons and other religious fodder was laughable. What stood in front of him now certainly didn’t look like the demons the rest of the human world was so familiar with. In fact, there was a good portion of them that probably would have thought that this inhuman thing was, dare he say, cute, something to keep as a pet and make do tricks for spoiled little children.
Alix was disgusted by the thought.***
