davinci678 asked: Can you do your own book ? :D

LOL!  I suppose I could, huh?  Let’s do “Treat Me Kindly" first.

Hmmm, let’s see.  Alex (main character), Nicholas (Alex’s friend), Myles (Nicholas’ love interest), Matthew (secondary character), Jazzmyn (first animal you meet).  Also breaking the rules and adding Natalie (one of the main females), Cassandra (Jazzmyn’s companion), Gwenyth (Alex’s big sister), Sandi (lab worker at the police station), Zahra (another animal), and Matthew’s mother, because I like how I wrote her.  Honestly I love ALL of them, even the bad characters because I love to hate them.

Nicholas and Myles (M/M).  Jazzmyn and Cassandra (F/F).  Matthew and Jazzmyn (it’s super complicated M/F)

Actually?  I’d have to say Alex.  He’s very sarcastic and is the character who pokes fun at people and situations to get over the seriousness of certain parts.

All of the animals are pretty, lol!  I think Cassandra is gorgeous, I really like dark skinned women in bright colors.  Myles is also very attractive, and he’s got this personal vendetta against clothing ^^;;;

A toss up between Jazzmyn and Cassandra, they’re sort of when the “shit hits the fan" in the book.

Either Natalie or Myles or Sandi (who is a table top dork, and though I don’t table top, I imagine that she’s an all around nerd).  Actually, Nicholas IS my BFF, I based his movie collection off of a good friend of mine  :)

That’s a big spoiler.

For fun, I’m going to do “Hunters: Seeking the Storyteller,“ since it’s coming soon.  I would do “Double Hue,” but there aren’t that many characters at all.

Alix (the one looking for the Storyteller), Cyn (human girl with a demon inside of her whose got a crap ton of attitude), Katalynne (awesome secretary-chan), Haven (uses a rare ice dragon), and Mira (fox demon).  Also want to mention Zach (Fagan’s little brother who can’t stay out of trouble), Fagan (Alix’s partner), Harper (Katalynne’s love interest), Dox (the demon who makes a deal with Alix), Xaver (Fagan and Alix’s old partner).  Also, coming soon in future books, there’s Laurence (Katalynne’s old boss), Laura (Laurence’s love interest), Puppet (Hunter and lounge singer), Julianne (Puppet’s love interest)

Just three?!  Probably going to surpass that number.  Haven and Cyn.  Laurence and Laura.  Puppet and Julianne.  Zach and Mira.  Harper and Katalynne.

I’d have to say Zach, but also Dox too as he develops a sense of humor.

Katalynne.  Definitely.  Again, it’s something about dark skinned women.

They’re all pretty bad ass, but I will say that in the second book there’s a part I’m really looking forward to, because it ends up being this group of three women who go in and kick ass.  If I share my answer though it’s a huge spoiler.

I’d have to say Zach again, because he’s kinda a geek.  I would say Cyn but she’d glare me to death for using a term like “BFF.“  Also, Mira is adorable.

Honestly, at some point in the series, ALL of them ruin my life, and it’s a huge spoiler as to why.

leave a fandom in my ask box?

It Gets Better: The in-law edition

brichibiwritesthings:

I often wonder, at the holiday gatherings of my partner’s family, how I will be introduced. When I first moved up here back in 2006, I got the prestigious label of “roommate.“ We had our “coming out” visit before the move, and it was made abundantly clear that “the lesbians in the room" would not be addressed as such when others were around. Then, we ate Subway sandwiches and called it a wash.

When you hear stories of “coming out,“ you tend to hear two sides. The first being “acceptance” and the other being “flat out hatred.“ However, there’s a middle ground that isn’t always discussed, and that middle ground hurts just as much as “flat out hatred.” The fake smiles served at family dinners, the mashed potatoes combined with the “roommate" label, that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth while you eat Thanksgiving dinner with the “in-laws" you’re not supposed to acknowledge.

Couldn’t I at least be a friend of their child?

This gets more awkward when you realize that the rest of the family has honed in on the truth. Aunts and uncles who can read between the lines, cousins your age who are hip with the GLBT community, the younger brother who accepts you without a care in the world. But my partner’s mother and father still fought it, still denied it, and it became a thing to get use to every holiday. Always wear the roommate smile, that poor girl whose family don’t live in the area so she’s passing the gravy around at her not-family Christmas.

Then, something changed.

We decided to get a house close to two years ago. We saved up our money and found a house we liked. The downpayment, however, increased and we suddenly couldn’t afford it. But then, like some sort of suburban super woman, mother-in-law came through and gave us the rest of the money. Father-in-law appeared through the clouds next to her, with hammer and nails, fixing our kitchen and telling us about the wonderful world of appliances and counter tops. The change had been made in the blink of an eye, and suddenly, the roommate status was dropped.

But the feelings still linger.

I still wonder, when meeting the rest of the family and old friends of the in-laws, how will I be introduced. I still wonder what they think of me, if they’re proud of what I’m trying to accomplish, if they’re excited about the published works of a jobless girl who their daughter is in love with.

I still wonder… until yesterday.

Yesterday was the 4th of July, and we went over to watch the fireworks at their new house. As the guests came in I held my breath, waiting for that introduction to ring through the air. And then, father-in-law said it.

“This is Briana. My daughter’s partner.”

And now, I don’t wonder anymore.

How I spent the fourth of July  :)

So this is in the art show at CONvergence. My partner went yesterday to drop my stuff off :) The only thing not pictured (because she didn’t get a chance to take the picture since she had to get back to work) is a TMNT clock and a Wonder Woman clock....

Enjoy the con, everyone!  I’ll be there on Sunday to pick up whatever doesn’t sell, most likely I’ll be in costume because I’m a geek like that  :)

More on rape and more on uncomfortable writing

brichibiwritesthings:

Because I posted this on my Facebook, I thought I’d post it here.  There’s not pretty things in my book, and here’s a longer, more thought out explanation as to how it all came about.  Behind a cut for triggers and ranting about things like “legitimate rape" and such nonsense.
