Random writing ramblings

Something I like to do is not reference current things will referencing them at the same time.

That… probably makes no sense.

What I mean is that instead of flat out calling something a name, I describe it so you get the sense of what it is.  For example:

1.  He drank a Red Bull.

2.  He cracked open an energy drink whispered an unrealistic promise of giving him wings.

I don’t know how I started doing this, I think it’s because I don’t want to date my stories?  When you read something and it actually states something, you know what time period it is and later, down the line, it might make the story feel old.  This works, of course, if you WANT your story to feel old, like mentioning something that’s obviously 80s.  But when you’re writing something that’s taking place today, and you name it, for some reason I always think, “This is going to sound super old fifty years from now, because everything is going to be new.”

So like, instead of “Nintendo Wii” I say something like, “Interactive game system that lets you bowl in your house.”

And… that’s my random writing ramblings for the day  ^^  I have NO IDEA where that even came from  ^^;;;

Cosplays with Color: Please Help Stop Cosplay Bullying! -

R.I.P. Rorschach Jackie

This is one of my friends. She was a fellow cosplayer who was bullied and attacked from other cosplayers. The picture above was her last and her best cosplay. She recently committed suicide on September 20th due to all the abuse she received. We supporters want her…

This always, always blows my mind when cosplayers, or geeks, or people in a fandom or anyone in that sort of community is bullied by people in their own community.  Don’t we already get enough crap from people outside the geek community?  You have to bully within it?  You would THINK they would be more supportive, and happy to have someone else who understands, and NOT be hurtful towards them.

For everyone in Minnesota that voted no, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.  Because of you, the marriage amendment failed, and I feel like I’m one step closer to being able to marry the person I love.  I’ve been with my partner for 11 years, and because of you, I feel like we’re one step closer.  It was a close race, but in the end, we won.

As for Obama, I know not everyone on my friend’s list or dash or whatever support him, but this man came out and said he has no problem with gay marriage.  This is a huge moment for me.  To be with someone you love for 11 years, go to other friends’ weddings, see other people get engaged and plan their ceremonies, and just sit there and smile?  It hurts, after a while.  You start to wonder if you’ll ever get the chance to make that little girl’s dreams come true, that little girl who sat in her all pink room, quietly planning her wedding and giggling, thinking of the dress, the place, and all of those things.

I feel like, today, we’re one step closer.  I feel like my dad is right when he says, “It’s going to happen, someday, in your lifetime.  Just watch.”

So from me to all of you who voted no, thank you  :)

melongifts asked: yup it's real. only 17% reporting though, so this is only a piece of the pie. This matters to me as a minnesotan too, so good luck to both of us!! Fingers crossed. Check huffington post for up to date information.

I have to go to bed soon, so I won’t know anything until morning, but I’m really hopeful since we’re winning so far!
