I just want to take a moment to show some appreciation for Miho.
The boys approach her to be their club advisor and she agrees, despite sports having absolutely nothing to do with what she teachers. The sport is for swimming no less, and she clearly states she never wants to wear a swimsuit again. Even though being the supervisor to a swim club would probably bring up situations where she’ll have to deal with swimsuits (i.e. when Nagisa invited her with them to go shopping in episode 4), she still agrees.
She supports the team throughout both seasons. She goes to their practices and all their competitions, cheering them on alongside Gou and the others. She gives them advice in her own way. Both about swimming matters and personal matters. My favorite moment is when she talks to Nagisa about the issue with his parents. Her “yolo” philosophy has encouraged the boys to discover themselves, like in the season 1 finale how she didn’t scold them much for pulling the stunt of having Rin replace Rei, she just said “it’s fine, young people do crazy things.” She’s aware of changes in the team’s relationships, like how she noticed Haru seemed different, which shows she pays attention and truly does care.
And look how happy and proud she is here. Miho is a wonderful teacher and club advisor. She reminds me of a couple teachers I had in high school, who were so supportive of their students both in and outside the classroom, aka the best teachers ever. I hope the team gave her a nice gift after nationals for being their advisor cause she deserves it.
FUCKING IMPORTANT ALL READ PLEASE
I mean if you think about it, sure the team has to deal with Mako and Haru leaving, but so does she. Teachers have to deal with their students leaving, and it has to mean something to her, in this moment, because it’s the last relay she’ll ever see this group in, this group she advised and cared for. While it certainly isn’t the last group of swimmers (as seen in the end, where they have newcomers), this is her first group, the first time she was the team adviser, so she’s losing something right now, too. And she looks so proud of them, you know? Sure they’re separate but they’ve come so far, have worked through some tough things, and are still connected to each other. I’m sure that’s a lesson she hopes they carry with them for all time :)

KANJI THICKENS
Lord look at these precious babies like Naoto tried so hard. So hard~ can someone gif this on repeat for reasons?
The finished “Fall Flower Fairy” dress and crown. I like how this dress turned out, I think it’s really cute and it makes me happy! Hopefully i’ll be able to get proper photos of in a pumpkin patch or someplace autumny.
The whole thing was made in a week from chiffon, organza, tulle, and sixty dollars worth of fake flowers. It was really easy and fun to work on.
I have three blog posts that about the process of making this, they can be viewed here. I also have three videos about it posted here!
Love Love Love LOVEEEEEEE
Gorgeous!
Free! - First & Last Appearances.
NOT OKAY
STILL NOT READY FOR THE ENDING EVEN IF I’VE WATCH IT 5 TIMES!!!
okay, but imagine makaoto gets his job teaching children how to swim. and every now and then, the class has a special guest to come swim for them. sometimes it’s olympic swimmer haru, sometimes it’s olympic swimmer rin. on super rare occasions they show up together and race each other while the class marvels in awe. later they sign autographs and take photos and the class can’t stop talking about how much they love Tachibana-sensei’s swimming class because he’s a great teacher and has all these wonderful swimming friends
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees <3 I mean can’t you see it:
“You used to swim with them?!”
“Yes, he did,” Haru says, offering a rare smile, “He was really great at the backstroke.”
“Now now, Haru,” Mako tries to hide his blush, “It’s nothing compared to you and Rin.”
“Your sensei is so modest!” Rin throws an arm around Mako and laughs, “He was great! They all even made it to nationals before!”
“REALLY?!” The children all stare at their Tachibana-sensei, suddenly forming a new respect for the man. "You’re so cool, sensei!“
"Rin…” Mako whines, “Stop it!”
“He’s only telling the truth,” Haru says.
“Not you too, Haru!”
I mean this would be such a great OVA or something just IT WOULD GIVE ME SO MUCH LIFE!
Swimming the relay together connected us
Is it weird that I’m happy that they didn’t win? Like they came in 6th place and it didn’t even matter because they just wanted to swim a relay one more time? And it also shows that there’s still work to do in regards to reaching the top for the likes of Haru. I mean he’s got great potential but I’m so glad he didn’t magically main character his way to first place all the time. You have to work hard and hone in your talent to get to the top, so I’m happy that this series showed that :)
This is so important to me
#that smile made so many things better#because I still think of High Speed! 2 Sousuke sitting in Haru’s dining room#I think of how close they were to being friends#and it’s my head canon that after Haru quit the swim team without explanation Sousuke was furious#but Haru had HURT the person whose friendship they were bonded through - the boy they BOTH missed so badly#so in ‘losing’ Rin he lost any potential friendship that was growing with Sousuke too#and just never bothered to explain any of that to Sousuke who was being abandoned by a ‘rival’ for a second time
I never really thought that Sousuke hated Haru, it’s just a combination of things, you know? At a young age he thought he screwed up with Rin, then Rin leaves to go swim with Iwatobi, then he goes to Australia, stops writing him, Sousuke fucks up his shoulder, sees Rin come back in that race and is in so much pain, sees him happy again by swimming with Iwatobi. I mean… even taking all of the points above into account there’s also the fact that Sousuke’s best friend left to join another team, and what pain he went through he found happiness with that other team, and not his best friend, and that has to suck.
And I bet part of Sousuke is like, “Well at least this guy is talented,” but Haru wanted to do nothing with his talent so that’s frustrating, yeah? "So this is the guy Rin went to and he’s not even doing anything, and here I am, injured, not able to accomplish this dream with Rin. Rin and I had the same dream, this guy could care less about dreams, but that’s who Rin is attached to now.“ I mean… that sucks. A lot of things have sucked for Sousuke but, here, he can still smile at Haru, because he’s doing something, and I think that shows a huge level of respect on Sousuke’s part. Instead of being like, "Oh here we go again Rin and his need to do this for Haru,” it’s, “Well that’s good, he’s finally going to reach his potential.”
Progress shot of my Dalek costume. I’m a big Whovian so this is definitely just a joy to make. I’ve been watching Doctor Who episodes while making this and holy crap do I love Martha Jones. She and Donna are definitely a tie for best companion in my book.
Will be posting more progress pics on my instagram and facebook.
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuurl~
