Hi everyone!
*passes out again*
Seriously though, wow! I feel the need to say thank you to all of you who are following me. Please enjoy your time on my tumblr, it tends to get a little bizarre and fangirlish and I post cosplay pics and pics from my shop and stuff. And sometimes I rant about things. All of the glorious ranting. Though I think that’s why some of you are here?
Got test pictures back from the Flame Princess dress I was commissioned to make for Kelsey Styles. OMG she looks super super cute in it! I love how it turned out and that wig is giving me some serious wig envy. She styled it herself!
I can’t wait to see what the whole costume looks like with the body paint and other jewel!
Required shameless self promotion: I take costume commissions and I love making fancy dresses. If you have any questions, just message me!
Reblogging because my wonderful wifey takes costume commissions :) She’s responsible for my dresses and dresses like this one :) We’ll have more pictures later when Kelsey takes pictures with the full body paint!
Awww, thank you <3 Are you going to Detour this year? I insist on hugs from Parappa!
To top off my ranting of the day I’ve been sick, blargh, I hate being sick. It makes me feel like a kid and wanting my dad to bring me Sonic the Hedgehog comics and McDonalds’ pancakes.
My wifey didn’t bring comics, but she did make pancakes with ears! I imagine Mickey Mouse, but I supposed cute teddy bears work too :) I felt a bit bad because it’s her birthday weekend, then immediately got over it when I saw these in the kitchen :)

See, that’s something else people don’t take into account, either. Size is just so… bizarre? Like you may be small in one area, but larger in another. And I swear sometimes people message me and they’re like, “Oh god thank you because I get teased,” and I look at their picture and am really surprised, because they’re smaller than me. And I wonder, “how are you plus sized?! Why are you being teased?!” But plus sized is just this huge realm, really. Plus sized doesn’t always mean you’re plus everywhere, you could wear a small top but have larger hips, or something like that.
And people also assume that fat = lazy which… isn’t the case at all. But that’s the problem in general: too many assumptions. About everyone. And I do it, too. Sometimes skinny people who I think are just lovely and perfect and have no problems in the cosplay community because they’re skinny are like, “Thank you so much because I get teased.” And I’m like, “WHAT?!” But it’s true! I’ve seen it. I have a friend and I saw her getting harassed on her page because she wasn’t tan enough? And that “you’re just here to make men happy.” And THEN there’s assumptions with men, too, because of people like THAT! I went in thinking, “Well clearly all my fans are female because I’m like, screw what people tell you,” but wouldn’t you know it? I have male fans! And my first thought was, sadly, “… why? What’s the catch? I don’t dress in revealing cosplay at all…” then I realized, “Wow Chibi what are you doing? Stop that. That’s not cool. You KNOW that not everyone follows the stereotype, come on girl.”
All and all, cosplay who you want. I know you’ll think that you can’t, or shouldn’t, because when I decided to cosplay I thought the same thing. And the really interesting thing is that if they actually, really showed cosplay for what it is, the majority of us are NOT the perfect size… whatever the hell the perfect size even is.
Eee! Thank you so much for reading! *hugs* And yeah, to me it’s always about having fun, and being a character who you love. If we cosplayed based on who we looked like, there’s no guarantee that a) we even like that character, and b) a lot of fans would be left out. Not just because of size, either. If we took size out of it, how many black female characters are out there for me? I use to think that I had to find one, like I needed to google “black female characters,” before cosplaying.
Or what if your favorite character is male? There are a lot of cool men in anime and video games and comics and everything. Not saying there aren’t female characters who are cool, but when I was growing up and getting into the likes of anime and video games, a lot of the lead characters were men. It’s much better than it was back then, but the point still stands.
Anyhow, this is why I’m like, “Forget it, I’m just going to cosplay who I like,” and I think everyone should do that. Don’t go out looking for who looks like you, be the character you like. You’ll have more fun cosplaying if you cosplay who you want, not who you think you should do because of their skin color or size.
Sometimes I still get responses to that article I wrote. Sometimes they’re not always positive. They’re jerky with lots of swears and lowercase letters and the occasional misspelling. And sometimes I think, I can type out some elegant response to “Anime/Cartoon characters are supposed to be slim and beatiful” but then I realize… what’s the point of getting all frustrated with someone who actually thinks that every single animated character fits with some realistic model of beauty, which isn’t even realistic to begin with if you look into how much photoshopping goes into making people “beautiful,” at least according to this person’s definition or what being beatiful is.
Maybe that is what being beatiful is? That’s not how you spell beautiful so…
Or how I should be ashamed of how I look. I mean I have 12 years of a relationship, friends, family, and fans who are apparently wrong in thinking that I’m a good person, and that I’m pretty. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! You should listen to this guy, for shame! Stop protecting me o.k.? Because clearly I’m a person who needs protection in the first place it’s not like I wrote that article to say “love yourself” I wrote that out of needing protection from my own… fatness?
Or how apparently it’s the outside appearance that makes us love these characters, not their personalities or anything, that would be silly. I’m clearly attached to Tiana for her good looks, not for her “you have to work for what you want” attitude, no that’s not it at all. I spent 25 episodes watching “Attack on Titan” because Eren’s so hot, not because it’s a gripping series that keeps you at the edge of your seat and OMG THERE’S A TITAN BEHIND YOU RUN!
And how cosplay should apparently exclude a large chunk of the fandom that even makes these characters popular in the first place. Unless, of course, you believe that everyone who enjoys anime/manga/cartoons/movies/television/video games/ect. is this skinny, beatiful person who looks like they walked right out of that series you love. Or that the creators of these series are just these flawless beings. Plus sized people are too lazy to make your favorite shows you know every single person who worked on the Avengers is as skinny as a cartoon character… wait Joss Whedon isn’t…
Or how I guess skinny cosplayers just magically look like that all the time and don’t do anything to achieve that look. Or that they don’t get any grief in the cosplay community either because they are perfect. They’re never called “fake” or “attention whores” or anything like that.
I do apologize for the existence of men like this person who can’t spell “beautiful,” because people like him are why female cosplayers are so defensive about men and assume that they’re going to be picked on by them when, in reality, male cosplayers have insecurities too. But because of people like this guy it’s assumed that men are just big bullies who have this inaccurate sense of what beauty is when, to be honest, the ones I’ve met at conventions are just as realistic as I am
Oh and I also don’t feel the need to get frustrated with comments like this because when I click on the article and see about 400+ positive remarks out of maybe 4 or 5 negative ones, I smile and put my cool kid glasses on ^^
Oh and in case you missed it this is the article I wrote, the negative comment is in there somewhere, if you don’t mind going through hundreds of positive notes (I know it’s there I get notifications lol, you don’t have to look for it)
