So I’m sitting in my partner’s work office because no one works on Saturday but like her and the free hot chocolate and she’s listening to “Welcome to Night Vale” which means I’m listening to “Welcome to Night Vale” and for a little while I was like “wha-?” Then we got to an add about Tropicana Orange Juice and just… I’m still like “wha-?” And something about pesticides and then something about a dog park and not going to the dog park and… I’m still like “wha-?” But it’s a good kinda “wha-?” because it’s making me giggle.
Oh goodness, I’m terrible at sending this to followers, so followers, if you want to share facts feel free please! I’d love to know more about you (or just send them to me, whatevers)
1. My first cosplay (besides Halloween) was Youko Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. My friend made me the costume and provided the wig, and my dad made this fancy rose whip. My friend said, and I quote, “Your the best black big breasted Youko Kurama that you could be.”
2. My first video game was Super Mario Brothers. I was six years old, and my mom still reminds me to this day that she saved the princess before me.
3. I stopped playing Tetris because my brother kept telling me that Reggie White (football player) appeared at the end of the game, and for some reason this scared me O.o
4. My first anime was Vampire Hunter D, but I only remember seeing part of it. The anime I remember the most from back in the day is “Wicked City,” since it was censored and I couldn’t believe a “cartoon” had that sort of stuff in it.
5. I once gave a boy crush a card and called him “my Vegeta” and I was his “Bulma.” I also gave him a figure with a dragon ball. He said we should just be friends, and to this day we still are, and to this day he still has that damn dragon ball >.<
Oh god really?! All right here we go.
Cuz it’s Batman, duh!
No but seriously, growing up he was my favorite DC hero because he was real. I mean, he was smart, he didn’t have powers, and he’d get angry and make mistakes too (I still remember the animated series episode with Two Face and how he blames himself, or the episode where he’s on trial, accused of creating these super villains, and it’s like… shit wow). And he cared, a lot, despite what it looked like at times. I think that’s why I really liked Batman Beyond, or characters like Nightwing, because on the one hand you knew Batman cared but on the other hand… what kind of life was he getting them into? Like I remember Terry meeting Barbara Gordon in Batman Beyond and she was like, “Don’t get mixed in on this its terrible, he makes it sound great but it’s not,” and even by that point Bruce Wayne was like, “Terry no, you don’t want this.” Or there’s the episode of the animated series where Batman finds the man who killed Robin’s parents (screw you movie for making it Two Face no), and he DOESN’T tell him, because he’s worried about him. And besides being concerned about losing Robin it’s like, he really doesn’t want these kids to turn out like him.
I also like how, you know, he just… can’t get close to people. Like he tries and it never works out. But that’s like, super hero realistic to me and, in a way, human realistic. He’s been through so much and is so fucked up, these characters try and just… no. Even in Justice League with other heroes who have their own hidden secrets, Batman is still like, “… no.”
Some representations of him are just… not good. Like Batman and Robin, just… no.
Like my favorite Batman episode is “Almost Got Em’,” because it shows the villains on their day off just talking about their Batman stories, and I thought that was really, really cool. I liked that it took a second to show the villains, not doing anything bad, just… being there. Like, what do super villains do on their day off? Play poker.
The animated series was my first really good representation of Batman. I mean I remember seeing the first two movies, but the animated series is what sticks out the most to me. Even with the Dark Knight Trilogy, I can watch the animated series all these years later and smile.
I can’t think of a line but I can think of a scene. In the first movie, there’s a guy trying to fight Batman and he’s doing all of these moves, looking like he’s going to do something, and Batman just punches him in the face. The end. Wait! For a line, it would be, “I threw a rock at him,” in “Almost Got Em’.” Because Batman was disguised as Killer Croc, so technically it was Batman saying it.
Urm… bat suit?
Just one? Ha no. Robin. Superman. Catwoman. Wonder Woman. The Flash. Batman is my DC Tony Stark I can pair him with anyone.
Him and Alfred.
I’m stealing my partner’s headcanon for the next Man of Steel movie, since it’s going to have Batman in it. With Metropolis destroyed, mysterious billionaire Bruce Wayne comes to help with the repairs. Also helping with the repairs is Lex Luthor, and Bruce is helping him, sort of suspicious about him of course, but as Bruce Wayne he can look into what happened in Metropolis. Him and Superman butt heads, of course, though they probably meet as Clark and Bruce first, because Clark is covering the story with Lois on how generous Mr. Wayne is for coming to help their city.
Is there really one for Batman? There’s so many takes on him…
That whenever the Justice League movie happens, that it’s good. Also, that Man of Steel 2 keeps all of the wonderful tension between Batman and Superman.
That Batman trusts Superman right off the bat in the new movie, because that is so not his style. Also, that someday Batman settles down and gets married, just… no.
Mysterious. Cunning. Smart. Flawed. Dark.
Uh… I don’t really have one ^^
Oh snap a challenger appears! Here we go!
I love Kanji to pieces! I really like that they tried something different with the whole “thug with a heart of gold” trope that happens. That and I think he’s an honest representation of a high school kid who likes things that the stereotype says that boys don’t like. There’s expectations for men that people never really talk about too much. I mean I’m all for women’s rights and things, but something women’s studies showed me is the expectations men have and how a lot of them don’t actually fit that image. Kanji sure as hell doesn’t. And you can see that he tries really hard to with his tough guy act (especially in the manga which shows his childhood). He likes things that people would call queer. I’ve seen this happen growing up. I’ve seen my friend’s neice fall and cry and she’s babied, versus her nephew who would fall and cry and it’s, “Suck it up you’re a man.” Also I feel like when a girl breaks away from her stereotype by “doing boy things” she may get crap for it, sure, but there’s an entire group like, “you go girl!” A boy, however, it’s like, “You’re gay,” end of story.
I also like the take on Kanji that people have that, well, maybe he is gay. He’s in high school discovering himself, so who knows. He does show interest in Naoto back when they think she’s a boy, so why not? I really liked this because there’s this assumption that high school kids “don’t know” and “are too young” and things like that, but high school is honestly like… a pretty vital part of your life. You’re trying to fit in, you’re going through puberty, you’re questioning things, and people just lump it as “you just don’t know” instead of letting you go through this stage in your life. Sexuality is a huge thing in high school and the answer isn’t, “he/she is too young,” or, “it’s just a phase.” You shouldn’t make the kid feel confused or ashamed, and I really like that take on Kanji’s shadow. Is he gay? Who knows. Just let him be. Just love him for who he is.
Just like Naoto, there’s nothing I don’t like, it’s the fandom sometimes. The arguments about his sexuality, I just… there’s no need to argue about it. Then again that’s my stance on any fandom, really. People have different opinions, respect them, don’t bash them for it.
However, there is something I don’t like. While I think the anime is fine, I really hate that they seemed to skim through his dungeon. I mean it was fine, but it didn’t feel as meaningful as it did in the game/manga. Also, the fact that they never mention his hatred for hospitals. He hates them because his dad died in one, which is a big deal in his social link. And I feel like the anime didn’t do much to show his closeness to his mom, which was kinda a bummer too.
There is one thing I really liked with the anime, and it’s actually during Naoto’s shadow arc. Besides the fact that I’m a huge kannao fan, they really portrayed him sort of “getting the message” about the shadows really well with the whole, “let the kid get it out, otherwise he’ll keep hurting.” Which he says in the game too, but still. I also like that the anime touched on his crush more, but it also made it seem like it was more than just a silly crush. I mean yeah there’s the beauty pageant and stuff, but when it came down to it he was right there. He actually fought her shadow, and talked to her like, “I such at making friends too, who gives a shit,” and you know, even if she never returns his feelings, in that moment she at least knew that she had someone.
There’s what, one or two seasons in the anime if we go by new openings or… I dunno, I just love him in all of it. Especially in the manga (please license it please). The manga goes into his past more, and he even summons his persona to take on his shadow. I think it does a good job in showing how strong willed he really is.
I swear all of Kanji’s lines are gold. One minute he’ll say something super deep, like, “Man is just an animal trying to get out of his cage,” then just stutter out to Naoto, “Make me a man, damnit!” Just… love him so much.
The one with the leather jacket. Just. Yes. Please. More of that.
Him and Naoto ALWAYS!
Him and Yosuke, honestly, because after the “oh god you’re going to make me gay” that doesn’t even last too long they’re totally friends. Like, really good friends, especially after Souji leaves. Despite the fandom that hates Yosuke because “ugh he’s so homophobic,” I love him to death and think he sees Kanji as a good friend. Btw I HATE the fandom that thinks Yosuke is a homophobic dick. He’s a high school kid, and he grows up, a lot. You can see how his dialogue changes around Kanji as he gets to know him and no one seems to realize that. They focus on the two early scenes with him and Kanji and never focus on the rest. Honestly, if he were homophobic, he wouldn’t want to be around Kanji at all! In fact, my brotp headcanon for them is that Yosuke actually apologizes, Kanji is like, “what for,” because by now he’s forgotten about that whole thing because they’re such good friends.
Him and Naoto actually do hook up after a while. His sewing thing takes off so he gets to be stay at home husband and sew things, like cute plushies and even clothes, while Naoto gets to be detective wife. I think it takes them a while to get together, maybe not immediately after the game, but sometime after Arena. I think by P4 Golden’s epilogue the romance starts to build up, because they’re both comfortable with who they are.
P4 Golden epilogue Kanji is not this hideous monster. I swear the fandom like flipped their shit when he was revealed, and you can tell that even with the nice clothes and dark hair he’s still Kanji (he yells easily, ect.) Also, my personal headcanon (I’m not sure how popular it is) is that, after the beauty pageant, he got really interested in dresses and heels. Naoto is 100% o.k. with this, because Kanji has gorgeous legs and looks good in heels.
That the fandom arguments stop, but I know it’ll never happen. I also hope that if they do make some sort of cameo in P5, that him and Naoto are together ^^
He stops sewing. He can never stop. Never.
Cute. Sweet. Dependable. Strong. Trustworthy.
“Madame” for when he plays with his heels ^^
LOL! I actually answered this for her like a couple of weeks ago ^^;;; http://brichibi.tumblr.com/post/57017762553/whispers-naoto Does all of tumblr know I love her to pieces or what?
Is it bad that I want to slap Jane?
I bet this is after that scene of Thor shirtless, as in the morning after he and Jane had some smexy times so she is feeling all full of herself. Not that all Thor’s friends are there too so it would be the only time Jane could get away with this. On the other hand, it SHOULD have hurt her hand because Loki has the physique of a fucking frost giant and weighs like 500lbs and can take a hit from Thor without blinking.
They better show that bitch shaking her stinging hand aftewards or I’ll be pissed.
UGH, I know. I mean, Natalie Portman is a tiny little lady, my girl-crush yes, but fucking tinier than I am. Trying to say she can land a good hit on a fuckiNG NORSE GOD SLASH FROST GIANT is just… Eh. Everyone found this part so grand, but I was kinda left twitching and foaming at the mouth.
What I love about this is that Loki is laughing. He doesn’t give a fuck about them. And for Jane: girl, what a dumb move, you’re slapping the criminal who is supposed to help you like, aren’t you supposed to be intelligent?
EXACTLY.
Look I want to like Jane so badly but things like this are why I cannot.
I agree whole-heartedly that Jane should be in pain for that—especially since I think she actually punched him and that can break a person’s hand regardless of striking someone who took blunt force trauma from the Hulk.
But Loki full on had that blow coming. He probably goaded her, for one thing. Not to mention this is the same asshole who sicced the Destroyer on Thor. Do you think she doesn’t have a few reasons to be angry with him? He deserved it, even though it obviously didn’t hurt him.
“That bitch”? Left you “foaming at the mouth”? and you cannot bring yourself to like her although you’d very much like to?
Foster’s Fellows, hold my fucking flower for me, will you.
So.
Let me be very clear, so I’m sure I get you all genii properly: you loathe Jane and wish her harm because… because…
Alright. First, I would really love to understand how one may reconcile a blind adoration for a criminal character who is, apparently, “a god” - although it was stated in canon that the Asgardians were only mistaken as gods by our ancestors - and rumoured to be able to defend himself, with the irrepressible urge to rush to his aid when a tiny little lady slaps him across the face?
Let me remind you the situation, just so we are clear. In the scene captioned above, Jane Foster, brilliant astrophysicist but mere human being, slaps Loki. She is an impulsive woman, and she is not a trained warrior, and the slap owes more to a reflex than anything.
Loki reacts to the slap certainly out of surprise; he was probably expecting a whine or a curse, and not expecting to be hit by that frail creature he would already despise out of principle, but whom he hates because she has her brother’s affection.
In other words, Loki is as prejudiced and bilious and disdainful as you all are, you wonderful beings, you lovely samples of humanity, you who call death upon a character because she happens to be female and in the way of your male fantasy…
I want to fucking know why every man I’ve met who disliked Jane only found her boring because she was “unsexily portrayed” or “just another stupid love interest”, but the women are foaming in the mouth because she is a bitch who deserves to be hit. That would make my fucking education, you know.
“Supposed to be intelligent”? Why? Because I am adamant about the fact, if she had not reacted, that you would have called her a coward, too afraid of the mighty male to act, and counting on Thor to protect her.
Do you know what I see in that scene? I see Sif’s respect for Jane. Sif’s total absence of disdain for the fragile human who dared to hit the god.
And I don’t see Jane’s stupidity. This obviously happened when everyone else has threatened Loki with death if he but moved, and he did not respond but with a sarcastic smile. Jane knew he could not harm her, and she hit him with her bare hand because Jane is straightforward, and her bare hand was all that she had.
No, of course Loki is not hurt. She hit with some force, and his cheek never reddens. But that was never the point. The point was that Jane would show Loki that all humans are not ready to kneel before a dictator, as a proud old man in a crowd once demonstrated. Of course she could never hope to measure herself to his strength, but that was not the point. The point was about telling Loki that Midgard didn’t forget.
That was a fucking grand scene.
(And now I want the next one to be Hogun bringing her some ice.)
ANYONE WHO DOESN’T THINK LOKI DESERVES TO GET ALL LEVELS OF SLAPPED FOR NEW YORK BY JANE OR ANY OTHER HUMAN UNFOLLOW ME NOW.
^^^
seriously, loki is a fun character and an interesting antagonist but gdi the level of apologism he receives from the Marvel fandom for the fucking horrible stuff he’s done is naueseating.
i know he is charming and handsome but let’s not forget: he’s also terrible
Absolutely all of this. Had she not slapped him she’s be a coward and “omg so whiny she does nothing,” but when she does slap him she’s a bitch. Just… guys I like Loki too, but come on now, considering what he did in Thor AND in the Avengers… he’s the bad guy, o.k.? He’s not supposed to be liked, least of all by a human who had to deal with him fucking everything up. Don’t forget, she was pretty much tossed into this situation without knowing what was going on. Imagine doing your life’s work then these guys in suits show up like, “Hey take this check we’re taking everything kthnx.” Then shit starts getting destroyed, not just in New Mexico, but in New York. I mean sure S.H.I.E.L.D gave her her stuff back but that’s a lot of crap to go through.
And how is she being called stupid for hitting “the dangerous criminal who is helping them,” she’s not the only one who attacks him in this scene. They all threaten him, EVERYONE THREATENS HIM, and instead of standing back and watching them she’s like, fuck this, I’m in on this too, because he fucking ruined my life too.
This reminds me of the Rise of the Guardians fans who hate Tooth for punching Pitch at the end of the movie. Like… are you serious? HE ATTACKED HER FIRST! He took all of the baby teeth, destroyed her area, made sure kids stopped believing in her so she lost her power… she deserves to be angry! Just like Jane. Like what, you want her to look at Loki and fawn over him? And not be pissed at him? Really? Right, because that’s believable.
I just hate when women hate on female characters because “oh noes they’re attacking the guy I like.” This guy you like is an asshole. I’m sure if Thor was the one who punched him you’d be crying, “OMG OTP,” but since it’s a woman it’s like, “Ugh bitch no.” Just stop with the woman bashing over silly things, please. I wonder… did Black Widow get this much hate in the Avengers? Cuz she spent the whole movie fighting Loki with the others, are we supposed to hate her too?
