Countess G from Gankutsuou

This was the first fancy dress cosplay I ever, quite a few years ago.  Since I couldn’t find patterned fabric I liked, I hand-painted the entire dress over the course of a month.  The wig is blue with permanent marker to make the silver and black streaks.  I had to guess on the design for the back of the dress, since you never see it.  So that part is completely made up based on what was on the front and connecting edges.  Also, I made the necklace myself out of 1 necklace, three earrings and a fancy broach off of ebay.

Oh goodness this beautiful woman is my wifey, like why does she even want to be my wifey I don’t understand cuz she’s so purty  :)

Do you have a specific tag or page with pics of your cosplays? I saw your Princess and the Frog cosplay and thought you were just absolutely super adorable. It was really great. :) I was just wondering if you had pics of other cosplays you've done.

The pics are so scattered, I really need to organize them  ^^;;;  My partner jokingly told me I need to make a cosplay page, but now I’m wondering if I should take her seriously  ^^  Thank you so much for the comment about my cosplay, I have more Tiana plans in the future!

Pepper Potts & Ironman cosplay

Holy crap, I thought that was Gwyneth Paltrow!

Are you sure this is cosplay and not some behind the scenes shot?

The premise of minimum wage, when it was introduced, was that a single wage earner should be able to own a home and support a family.  That was what it was based on; a full time job, any job, should be able to accomplish this.

The fact people scoff at this idea if presented nowadays, as though the people that ring up your groceries or hand you your burgers don’t deserve the luxury of a home and a family, is disgusting.

This.  These people work hard, real hard, and really don’t get the pay that they deserve.  Being paid to deal with customers, trying to give them want they want, being yelled at if they mess up (on BOTH sides, customer and corporate) and being worried about losing their job if they make a mistake?  Or getting their hours cut because they might not perform as well as another employee.  I worked retail for six years and it just got worse along the way.  If you walk into a store and wonder why an employee is trying so hard to get you to sign up for something, nine times out of ten it’s because they HAVE to.  Like, literally.  Their job depends on numbers and performance, and surveys, and things like that.  It’s little pay for a lot of work, and they need more love than they actually get.

If you are a black cosplayer…

Hmmm.  I do believe that things happen for a reason, and I definitely believe in karma.  I believe in being good and fair to others, because that’s how you would want to be treated.  I’m not sure if I believe in the idea of being “destined” for something, as in, “you were born to do this so you should do it,” because that can change as you grow.  You can be interested in new things as you grow up.  I’ve always loved writing, for example, but I think it took me trying other things to really realize that it was what I wanted to do.  I’m not sure if I’d be this determined if I hadn’t of tried pre-med first, or worked retail for so long, and things like that.  Does that make sense?
