Yes ma'am

“You’re not bleaching your skin, you’re bleaching your psychology.”

Damn.

REBLOG IF YOU WERE EVER TOLD YOU ACT WHITE OR SOMEONE HAS SAID YOU’RE NOT BLACK ENOUGH OR LABELS YOU AS ANOTHER RACE AS A JOKE BECAUSE OF…

zombiiegang:

-The music you listen to and enjoy

-The clothes you wear

-A hairstyle you’re rocking

-Because you speak a certain way

-You read a lot

-You much rather watch cartoons or anime except cheesy ass reality shows
-The people you date

The list goes on and on, but just because you like these things it doesn’t make you any less of a poc, don’t hide who you are to please a group of people, these things don’t gauge how black a person is or isn’t. So can we stop trying to mold black children into “Right kind of black’ and start accepting THE CARE FREE BLACK CHILDREN as who they truly are, unique, eccentric, limitless kings and queens.

More black princesses, more black fairies, more black mermaids, more black girls doing all the things, for fucks sake

More all girls doing all things for all fucks sake.

More black princesses, more black fairies, more black mermaids, more black girls doing all the things, for fucks sake

I mean seriously let’s look at like Disney for instance:

There is one black princess out of a line up that started in the 1930s.

To my knowledge, there is one black fairy out of the Disney fairy line up that started in 2005.

And I can’t think of a single black mermaid (there is a Latina one in the short lived Little Mermaid cartoon series).

So yes. More black princesses, more black fairies, more black mermaids, more black girls doing all the things, for fucks sake. Because we can have more than one in a group.

There seems to be this idea that poc wanting to create safe spaces for their own people is segregation. No honey, segregation is when you beat my grandfather nearly to death when he entered in a whites only entrance.

Seriously do people not realize what the word “safe” means?

Safe means that you need a place where you don’t feel scared, not “I’m better than you so you go and use that crappy water fountain over there.”

Furthermore, do people think we like the fact that we need to set up safe places when it’s almost 2016? Do they not get how tragic it is to hear stories from our parents and grandparents about how terrible the world was because they were around during actual, legalized segregation? Do they not get how heartbreaking it is to see their faces when they realize that my generation and younger generations are still facing that bullshit today, only now, people can disguise it with “we had the Civil Rights Movement, we’re fine, so stop making it about race.”

Honestly, do people think we want these safe places and black movements to be necessary? More than anyone else we want to be able to say “this stuff is unnecessary, we’re fine.” But guess what? We don’t have the luxury of wearing those blinders.

We can’t afford to.

tiana is white now?

I’m actually black! But thank you for trying to make an ignorant statement about things you don’t know!

(I know it’s hard for you to believe, so here’s a picture of me with my father:

Regardless of skin tone, people can also cosplay whoever they want to! Regardless of size, race, gender or anything. If someone who was white wanted to cosplay Tiana because Tiana is their favorite princess, then my god let them. People can’t help what skin tone they are born with. As long as they are respectful then let them have fun.

But sorry my skin tone doesn’t fit your standards.  (◡‿◡✿)
