The Inner Workings of a Chibi.
In which foxes are, indeed, not cats.

huntersseries:

One of the reasons why I love Cyn so much is because she’s sort of the resident cynical girl who lives in our world, so she knows the different mannerisms of humans that the demons don’t get — moreso than Alix and Fagan, who spend their days hunting.  So she’s the character who will get the geeky references to things that no one else will, as seen in the following snippet.

Note:  Katalynne hasn’t been properly introduced, just know that she’s Fagan’s awesome secretary who doesn’t get paid enough for what she has to deal with  ^^  Oh!  And this sort of introduces Mira, briefly?  She’ll get a proper introduction, I promise!

Note behind a cut because it’s only a few paragraphs  :)

Everyone in the room - aside from Haven - stared at her fox like ears that jutted out from the sides of her head, her hair falling down her back.

Cyn was the first one to react.  “Great, so you have cat ears.  How is that supposed to tell us anything?”

“I am not a cat!”

“You have cat ears-”

“I’m a fox!”  Mira hit the table lightly with her hand to make her point more clear but this only resulted in Cyn smirking in amusement.  For a moment it looked like she was going to yell again, but the girl took a deep breath and relaxed in her seat.

“I take it cat demons are different?”  Katalynne asked, moving her fingers across the tablet to pull up information.

“Wait, so cat girls are real?”  Cyn asked, sounding a bit scared.

“Of course they are,” Mira said, “But they’re kind of annoying.”

“You don’t know the half of it.”

Another really short snippet before I leave work.  I hope you guys are actually enjoying these  ^^;;;  And remember, you can follow the actual Hunters blog for more  :)

Can we just observe when he says “communicate their feelings and just enjoy each other’s company” what we see is people just staring on their phones. No one is interacting with another person.

Aren’t we mindless zombies already?

I’m seriously tired of the message ‘technology has made us all zombies and we don’t talk to each other anymore’. Yes, there are serious problems. Yes, there is a large amount of room for improvement.

But you know what I did before technology? You know what I did before I had a phone?

Nothing. When I was in school I brought novels with me every day and I read them. I didn’t talk. I managed to make a few friends and only had fun with them because they forced me to do things that I hated. I don’t like parties and clubs and other stuff, every single bit of that was hell for me, because I like quiet and suck at conversation and places like that were nothing but balls of stress to me.

If not for technology, I would still be a miserable pile of constant anxiety, afraid to break out of a routine for fear I’d do/say something wrong and stupid. I never talked or socialized and when I did muster up the nerve to speak it was always awkward or too blunt. I became known as a cold-hearted bitch who was mean to everyone, even though what I mostly did was go home and cry and call myself stupid.

Computers changed all of that for me, showed me for the first time that there were people like me. The better tech got, the more I opened up. But I still was pretty alone when not around people I knew, because I’m not a talker, not really.

Chatting online - chat rooms, emails, lj comms, fanfiction, all of that taught me how to be social. All of that helped me be braver, made me more willing to talk to people anywhere, everywhere. It’s less overwhelming to me now to have to go into a strange room and talk to people. I don’t go deer in the headlights now when someone randomly starts talking to me.

My phone also helps when I’m being harassed. Back when I didn’t have a phone, if the nutjobs on the bus or in the airport started harassing me, I had no choice but to endure it until it was over or try to say something or just leave and risk whatever the fuck happened next. Now? I always have my phone. I can always call and say ‘talk to me so this person leaves me alone’. I can text someone to come rescue me at the bar. I can fucking call for help at the drop of a dime if I have to. Airports are no longer a terrifying place where I will be stuck for hours with no one to talk to unless I want to risk an uncomfortable, even dangerous, situation.

Technology made me more aware of the problems and challenges that other people face. It showed me a broader world. It’s made me more patient with people, it’s made me more determined to remember that you never know what someone is going through.

If not for technology, I never would have been brave enough to try writing. I doubt I’d be an author right now. I certainly never would have met this crazy chick who was living in Vermont and was just as miserable as me. I never would have emailed her every morning and night and texted all through work and wound up with my best friend and current roommate slash business partner.

So don’t fucking tell me that technology is turning us into zombies that don’t communicate.

And people don’t just enjoy each other? that’s such bullshit. I was at a concert just a couple days ago. The radio was playing while they waited for the show to start, and Gangnam Style came on. The entire fucking building exploded with people dancing and cheering and laughing and having a good time together for no reason more than we were all amused as fuck that song came on the radio.

I see that kind of thing happen all the time. We’ll randomly be talking about something on someone’s phone at a restaurant and the waiter will chip in because he recognizes it. I’ve shot the shit with so many people over something that was happening on someone’s phone. People I may not have talked to otherwise.

Technology is quite literally one of the main reasons I live a brighter, louder, happier life than I would have otherwise. Like goddamn hell am I a zombie.

This.  Just… thank you.  I wouldn’t have even met my partner if not for the internet, fanfiction, Gundam Wing and mailing lists.  Stop assuming that technology is making people mindless.  I’ve never been so social in my life thanks to tumblr, facebook, and all that jazz.  I’ve also never been so creative.  If I didn’t write fanfiction all throughout college I don’t think I would been the writer I am.  Fanfiction gave me a way to practice and improve my technique, so yes.  Technology is not the problem.  You don’t even have any idea what the people are doing in this scene.  Don’t assume it’s something wasteful.  Sure, we joke that the internet is for cats and lulz, but seriously, it’s such a wonderful community of people who think like me, like the same things I do, and everything.  Do you know how much I would’ve loved to have this social network in high school when I was the weird black girl who liked anime and wasn’t interested in dating or clubbing?

Despite the bad that comes with technology sometimes (because there’s no denying that it exists) there’s so much good with it.  The support I have over the things I like, my crafts, my size, my race, my gender, all of that comes from places like tumblr.  So don’t look at this and assume, “Ugh, what a waste of life, how deep that a zombie can go there."  The fact that you assume people who are into technology MUST be wasting their time is the true waste of life, to me.

Hunters, the blog

brichibi:

Hi guys!  So in order to keep track of what I post for Hunters: Seeking the Storyteller and other future projects for it I’ve made a blog for it!  Please follow it if you wish to read snippets of the story  :)  The opening scene is posted on that blog already, please enjoy!

Check out the blog here!

Reblogging because advertising is key  :)  There’s a blog for our original story  :)  There’s three snippets posted there now followed by a few other fun bits.  If you like my writing, please take a look at my original works too.  This is what I do besides headcanons ^^

Me while reading: Noooo! My poor sweet babies! AUTHOR, WHY MUST YOU TORMENT YOUR CHARACTERS SO?
Me while writing: This character has been orphaned, whipped, sentenced to death, thrown overboard by pirates, captured by enemy soldiers, near-fatally poisoned, put on trial for his life before an angry mob, tortured in front of his best friend, and thrown into prison again.
Me while writing: ...
Me while writing: Let's stab him.
Snippet: Cyn’s debut

huntersseries:

Oh wow, we actually have followers!  Awesome!  It’s Monday morning, time for a snippet of the story!  Cyn is one of my favorite characters in the story as a whole.  She’s got a whole lot of attitude and it’s a bad idea to piss her off, but as you get to know her you realize… it’s still a bad idea to piss her off  ^^;;;

This section also introduces Haven and a fight scene in the story.  Fight scenes man, they’re interesting to write.  You sort of have a plan then as you’re doing it you’re telling yourself, “Did this character attack yet?  He probably should so he’s not left out in the battle.”

This takes place after the last snippet, in with Fagan and Alix received a call from their old friend, Xaver.

So I don’t know all the intricacies of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (have only seen a few episodes) but I got a commission for a Pinkamena clock.  The first time I heard about this version of Pinkie Pie was at Anime Detour last year, when someone commissioned me for a coaster or a wooden button (I don’t remember which) and just called it “The Pinkie Pie with straight hair.”

This newest commission, the request was to make it look, well…. disturbing, lol.

It’s not finished, but I wanted to post a progress pic.  I still have to do the eyes, obviously, but I had this moment where I woke up this morning, went to my computer, and saw this like, “Oh shit… I actually drew something like this?!  Wow…”

Character greetings

huntersseries:

Suddenly, you’re greeted by a young girl who smiles happily.  She has the type of cuteness that makes people stop and take notice, but what sets her apart from your normal cute, sweet girl are the furry, pointy ears and the soft tail that wags behind her.

“Hi hi!  Mira here!”  She says, giggling as she speaks, “You haven’t met me yet, but I couldn’t wait to meet all of you!  Zach says that this is a computer, and this is something called the internet, and there’s pictures, and people, and things!  So many things!  And-… h-hey!”  The small Chromebook is quickly snatched away from the bouncy fox girl.

“Please forgive her for existing.”  This new girl is the complete opposite of Mira.  She glares at everything within her range, from the sun for being far too bright, to the Chromebook for not being dark enough.  She’s dressed in fishnet, her hair a wild shade of red until she dies it into a different color, “Mira is a Scough, a demon way of saying ‘bouncy annoying thing with cat ears.”

“Cyn!”  The girl puffed out her cheeks in annoyance, “I’m not a cat!  I’m a fox!”

“Whatever,” the goth girl muttered, rolling her eyes, “Anyhow, you all haven’t met me either, but you will soon… unfortunately,” Cyn sighed, “Have a good night, and please, leave me alone.”

“Not me!”  Mira cried out, “I want to get to know all of you!!!”

Who are these two characters?  Stay tuned to find out!  Good night  :)

Just having a bit of fun before bed.  Good night, everyone  :)

So when getting the new Chromebook I wanted a new, snazzy bag for it.  All of my bags are much too big and all.  We looked at Best Buy and Target and didn’t really find anything appealing.

So babe told me to pick up some T-shirts.

This is what she made for my Chromebook.  If this isn’t amazing I don’t know what is!  These were T-shirts from Target, now it’s my Chromebook bag.  It’s T-shirts, fleece, and batting combined to just… OMFG IT’S SO COOL!

This is how lucky I am.

My partner got a very nice gift from her parents and little brother for Christmas.  They gave her money so she could get a new computer (her old one is beyond dead)  As a surprise late Christmas gift and to celebrate the amazing publishing news we’ve gotten, she got herself a Chromebook AND got ME a Chromebook, too!  We also decided to get a camera, finally, so we can take better pictures of our crafts.

The Chromebook is amazing, perfect for writing, very light and easy to carry around.  I’m so beyond happy right now.  I have the best partner in the world.  I can’t believe she thought of me when the gift was supposed to just be for her.  This weekend has just been wonderful  :)

Would you ever go to an anime con out of your state?

I usually do  :)  Just in the Midwest though, still trying to figure out how to get everything we make at our table to further away cons.  For now, we have like five to six midwest ones in mind, from Anime Detour to Anime Central and things like that  :)
