“As a customer, I think that it’s wrong for artists to price their art by time spent. We shouldn’t get penalized cause it’s our money!!”

I need to lay down h o ly shit

People are stupid

I would say this sounds made up, except I have had people say similar things to me.  I’m just like, “Then go over to the {$priced-way-too-low$) commission person over there,” to which they reply, “But I don’t want a commission from them, I want a commission from you.”

Well tough shit, buddy.  Pay up or shut up.

The fact that they think it’s some sort of penalty tax instead of paying for an item they want and the time it takes to create said item after spending years developing the skills to create said item and needing money to pay bills and have a place to live and food to eat so you can sustain yourself while creating said item… like… not sure if they missed the memo, but art is a job just like every other job and if every other person in every other job can be paid by time spent, so can artists. When people look for jobs they look for things they’re qualified in AND FOR THINGS THAT WILL PAY THEM FOR THEIR TIME IN A WAY THEY CAN LIVE OFF OF! If they aren’t paid enough, they look elsewhere, or even protest how unfair it is. So no, it’s not a penalty, it’s an income-based career just like every other career out there. I’m sure you want to be paid for your time, too, when you get out of bed and go to work, so don’t you dare come at artists with that ass-backwards logic.

There’s some fetishes that we’re allowed to wear out in the open. Others, we have to keep tucked away in our closets. Unbeknownst to the people around him, Kaeden is walking that fine line in stylish heels. But with the release of a new brand, “Lemon Wedges,” Kaeden is finding it hard to keep his desires behind closed doors, especially when his sexy roommate, Stephen, gets a taste of his fashionable little secret.

My smutty short M/M story is on sale this week for 99 cents! You can get a copy here <3 Thanks, as always, for the continued support.

Reblogging as a friendly, smutty reminder :) And to say thanks for the interest in it and purchases and reviews and support and everyone is awesome and lovely <3

Eyeshadow and smiles all around :)

Possibly a silly question, but when I went to buy your Lemon Wedges story I noticed it says it's "(Devious Pies Book 2)". I browsed the books on your author page and didn't see any designated as Devious Pies Book 1, so I wanted to check and see if I'm missing anything. I like to read stuff in order whenever possible. :D Thank you!

Not a silly question at all! Book 1 is written by my wifey, which you can find here :) They’re two different stories with different characters, but are part of the same anthology.

To add, I don't understand how a response of "I tried and heard nothing back" automatically means "yes go ahead and do the thing." I kinda hate this mentality of "its on the internet which means I can use it and I'm doing you a favor by even asking how dare you get offended."

I want to circle this post and highlight it and frame it in my house

but hey, if you come to my house, ask if you can take it, and I don’t hear you right away and therefore don’t answer, that means you can steal it and claim it as your own.

I meeeeeeeean!

Seriously though, maybe it’s the writer in me, and having things like “site your sources” drilled into my head, and remembering having to go to the library and look stuff up in books, put page numbers and people’s last names in parenthesis, and have an entire page dedicated to your sources then got graded on if you sourced them the right way.

I mean now you can find stuff so easily. You can google it and get a bunch of articles and pictures and instantly it’ll tell you where that stuff came from, who is in the picture, who took the picture, and all that jazz. And if for some reason you can’t, you can ask, pretty easily. I’ve seen cosplayers post pictures of amazing costumes, not know who it is, post on their page, “Who is this,” and get an answer in minutes. “Oh that’s so and so cosplay” or even “they don’t have a page but I know him/her, here is there name.” And there are so many ways to message people. They don’t answer Facebook? Try Tumblr. They don’t answer Tumblr? Try Instagram. Twitter. The list goes on.

But beyond that, let’s say that none of that works, absolutely none of it, and you decide, forget it, I’m gonna use this source anyway. If that person finds out and contacts you RESPECT THEIR WISHES! Whether it’s a simple “hey that’s me, please credit me” (which is usually the case with cosplayers because we want our work shared) or a “please don’t use that pic” respect their wishes. Simple as that. It’s such a basic creative rule to me, but it’s also common courtesy.

I’ve seen amazing fanart, for example, that I’ve wanted to cosplay. Know what I did? I asked the artist. You know what happened? The artist was thrilled. THRILLED! Did she take a while to get back to me? Yeah, because life is a busy kind of thing, but she was flattered and happy and insisted I send her pictures or at least tag her when the costume was done, and she shared the hell out of it. It took me less than a minute to send a “hey I love your work can I use it” message. It’s not that hard to ask permission. It’s not that hard to be respectful.

NaNoWriMo snippet

It must’ve been written in some Old World Testament: when you’re anxious for school to be over, time decides to take a personal call and ignore the growing line of customers. The slowdown doubled on Fridays, and tripled if the sun was beaming into the classroom to tease the students. “You could be out here right now if it weren’t for Mr. Stewart’s lecture.”

Brylie wondered if she could double check Grandmama’s Bible for confirmation in regards to the Testament and its opinion on school and Friday afternoons. Could she flip through the pages and see that Psalm number something or rather did, in fact, state that school had to take its time ending when the weekend was near? Then again, the elderly woman owned the New Testament – King James and all that – so the old rule may have been lost in translation. Besides, Brylie didn’t want to go anywhere near Grandmama’s drawer of religion, otherwise, she’d be roped into putting on her Sunday best and sitting in the Lord’s house for hours on end. The old woman would probably want her to wear that floral print dress she had gotten her for Christmas last year, complete with perfectly white tights covering her dark skin. Then she’d insist that she put a bow in her hair, probably tell her to straighten it so it didn’t look so wild. Someday Grandmama would realize that Brylie had outgrown the “Just For Me” perm kit and sunflower dress look years ago. She was sixteen now, for Christ’s sake.

Lift that leg, girl!

A little write up on fat women and sex inspired by Empire. Under the cut because it’s kind of NSFW.
