Real talk, one day, back when I worked at GameStop, two black guys came in and I did the normal, “Hi can I help you?” They were like, “No, probably not.” So I asked what they wanted again and they asked about fighting games, which is a genre I love, so I started talking about it. This was the response:
Guys: Damn, I didn’t think a girl like you was into this stuff
Nevermind the fact that I was working at a video game store -_- It took me a moment to realize that it wasn’t because I was a girl, but a black girl, that I thought I didn’t game. Because clearly black women aren’t into video games and geeky things. And I feel like, as much crap as I’ve gotten in my GameStop days, this one was like… uber personal :(

The worst thing ever would be when someone would ask be about a game I didn’t play, it would be like, “Ah, of course you don’t know,” and just… no I don’t play (this game) but if you stop making assumptions you’d fine out I play (all of these other games).
