So I realized that I’ve talked about the joint series I have going on with my partner, but I haven’t said much about it.  During NaNoWriMo we worked together on what will be the second book (we have seven planned), and in doing so we ended up going back to the first story and adding a lot more details.

I want to share a sort of synopsis of the story, maybe post a snippet if it’s something that sounds interesting to people.  I want honest feedback, because this is something we want to be published.

Plot summary like thing under the cut, in one of the main character’s POV  :)

Demon is a rather vague, unfair term to give to the inhuman creatures that I run into on a somewhat daily basis.  However, it’s a word that everyone recognizes, a universally accepted phrase for the things that go “bump” in the night.  My name is Alix Andre DeBenit, and I’m a Hunter.

People like me make it our living to hunt down the terrible creatures that make it their business to terrorize humans.  I’ve seen a lot of “demons” in my day, but none quite like the one my partner and I have just captured.  It seems to be… a living shadow, always moving silently in the darkness around it.  That part isn’t what bothers me.  What bothers me is the intelligence this creature has.  It talks civilly as if it has some common sense.  That makes it dangerous, but it isn’t something I can kill right away.

I need it, and the demon knows this.

This demon has information on a creature who’s known as “The Storyteller.”  From what I hear the Storyteller has the power to change things, big things, rewriting people’s lives like books and giving them the outcome they deserve.  

The outcome… I deserve.  

I lost everything that ever had meaning to me a long time ago and I intend on getting it back.  I intend on getting my fiance back, no matter what the cost.  Roderick Michaelis was my world and he did not deserve to die the way he did.  If this shadow demon in front of me can lead me to this “Storyteller” then I’ll swallow my beliefs and work alongside it.

Or I’ll kill it like all the rest.  After all, that’s what us Hunters do best.
