The Inner Workings of a Chibi.
Persona 4 the animation part two dub first impressions

Cut for spoilers!  Kanji, Naoto, Yu, the team, and all that’s in between.

Or further scientific proof that the ones most obsessed with Naoto’s breasts are, clearly, Yu and Rise.

Rise when reading the results:  Naoto, these say you’re stacked.

Yu when talking to Kanji:  Aren’t you the least bit curious?  Naoto.  Big melons or not?

Kanji:  W-what?!  What are you sayin’ I did look at her tits I swear!

Yu:  … o.k.

Kanji:  But man, that chick sure is amazing.

Yu :  Which chick?  Oh right, fun bags.

So far the dub has proven to me that I, clearly, cannot be drinking anything while watching or I’ll start choking.

Oh, and just because I <3 Kanji and Naoto:

Yosuke when Naoto joins the team:  Tee hee, tickled pink hey Kanji?

Kanji:  What?!  Why are you askin’ me?!

Naoto:  *smiles at Kanji*  It’s o.k.

Kanji:  H-huh? Oh… yeah, w-whatever… *blush*

I’m also happy that they cleaned up that “because she’s a girl” line from Rise and Chie.  Instead it’s:

Rise: Of course she was scared ANYONE would be scared!

Chie:  And it’s NOT just because she’s a girl!

Good job dub team, good job  :)

I really like Kanji’s new dub voice, I think it does a good job.  The only thing I question is that I don’t remember him swearing so much before?  Did he swear that much in the game?  He also says “dudes” and “chicks” a lot, too, which I don’t remember him doing that that much either.

It still bothers me that there’s no “senpai” or “kun” or anything like that, especially since the lead character’s name is “Yu” so it sounds kinda off without having a Yu-kun or something.  There’s also the fact that, you know, it’s kinda weird to have Naoto being so informal?  Like, she’s just like, “Kanji said this,” and as much as my OTP heart loves that, it just feels off.  It’s a weird choice to me because the game – even Golden, to my knowledge – kept all of the Japanese honorifics.  It’s also weird because Teddie still calls Yu “sensei,” which… if you’re going to keep one, keep them all?

Oh, and I will never like Yosuke calling Yu “bro,” but that’s just my biased towards the whole “bro” culture.  I miss “partner,” I miss it a lot, not just because of my Yu and Yosuke feelings, but because even in a friendship standpoint “partner” has more feeling to me than “bro.”  On the plus side, I’m falling in love with Yu all over again, the group date cafe and “fem!Yu” is just… it’s really fun watching the fun scenes, because the dub cast is so into it!  The emotional scenes, however, hurt like a bitch.  Yu screaming in general is just painful to listen to.

Also, Naoto’s shadow is really chilling in the dub, like, poor Naoto  :(

Speaking of Naoto, yes, that’s a new voice actress too (who they still don’t list in the credits  O.o  I think it’s the woman who does Naruto?  That’s just my guess, really, because it kinda sounds the same Got it cleared up she does the voice of Kurenai in Naruto, and also gives me a singing orgasm because she does songs on the Silent Hill soundtracks)  It’s not bad, actually, but there’s no like… really femmy voice?  Like you know for the beauty pageant she has like ultra femmy voice times in the Japanese version?  I mean for the most part it’s… lighter?  Like I said, it’s not bad.  It does actually sound more masculine when she’s a boy, though, which is a good thing.  After the reveal it’s… about the same?  Sort of?  I can’t really explain it  -_-

I’ve only been watching bits and pieces, really, until I can properly marathon it with my partner since she wants to watch it with me.  For the most part, mostly have positives to say, then again, since I watched the whole thing as it aired on Hulu I already have my feelings for the series, it’s really just judging it on the dub now.
