Just.

O.K.

This was a discussion I had with my dad growing up.  Then I remember, when I turned 18, he brought up how embarrassing it was for him, because sometimes he’d go get groceries and I’d ask him to grab me some pads.  

I looked him straight in the eye and said, “No.  That’s not true.  When I go out and get you cigarettes, THAT’S embarrassing, because I’ve got a cashier looking at me and judging me, thinking that they’re for me and I’m only 18.  When you’re getting me pads, they don’t think they belong to you, if anything, they respect you for getting them for your daughter or wife or whatever woman is in your life.”

He stopped, blinked, then was like, “… yeah… wow, I guess you’re right.”
