Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the fact that even though Rei says “they all,” the only person in the Iwatobi Swim Club who calls Rin “Rin-chan” is Nagisa.

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Nagisa talking about “Rin-chan” a lot drove Rei this crazy.

I didn’t realize this at all  O.O  

And if you think about it…

Makoto doesn’t talk about Rin too much, because it upsets Haruka.

Haruka barely talks about Rin (I mean the only reason he told the story is because Rei asked about it after seeing the picture in Haruka’s house) And you couldn’t help but notice the tension between them after Rin beat him in that race and said the whole “I’ll never swim with you again.”  

But Nagisa…

And he does it so nonchalantly too.  "We’re going to race against Rin-chan,“ and "Wonder if we’ll see Rin-chan at the tournament” and “if we make it for enough I’m sure we’ll see Rin-chan.”  

Wow, anime.  I just… wow I didn’t even think about this!  I was just so proud of Rei speaking out about everything.  Because he’s right, you know.  How frustrating must it be that you dropped what you were doing (track, which he was GOOD at and those awards in his house may have been from track meets) to do something you don’t know how to do at all?  And for what?  To be tossed into this back story that no one really talks about except for Nagisa, but when he talks about it, it’s obvious that these boys were friends “Rin-chan Rin-chan Rin-chan” and suddenly they just… aren’t?  Why?  Why didn’t Rin call them when he got back to Japan?  And doesn’t he realize what he’s done to Haruka?  And just… it’s frustrating!  I mean I know we’ve been frustrated watching but Rei has been in the middle of it the whole time  :(
