Hi!! Love the beauty and the beast Coldplay, you were glowing with confidence and beauty! Does your hair naturally lighten on top like that? It looks really nice!

Thank you so much for your comment!

I got it colored for the first time a couple of months ago in streaks of red and what ended up being like a light brown.  The red is pretty much gone, but the light brown stayed because that was the part that got bleached (if I’m remember right, this was back in March).  It looked like this:

I wore it straight for quite sometime, but lately I’ve been wanting to do the whole natural thing.  I’ve been getting perms and stuff since I was a kid, and straightening combs and all that.  Let me just say that I love straight hair to pieces.  But lately I’ve been wanting to try this?  I see so many women with natural hair and it’s so gorgeous, but I always kinda thought that, on me, it was really not attractive.  Like, “oh lord need a touch up now.”  If I couldn’t get one, I’d like wear hats or at least slick it back and stuff.  It didn’t help that in college, I stopped getting my hair done, for a lot of reasons.

1.  I was focused on school

2.  I never found time for it, I wanted to, you know, enjoy being on my own and all that stuff.

3.  I went to school at a predominantly white campus and was pretty much under the assumption that they could not do my hair.  At all.  It’s a terrible stereotype that I’ve gotten over since then (the girl who colored my hair is white), but at the same time, my black roommate went to get her hair done at a salon and a white lady messed her hair up, bad.  She had scabs in her head and everything.

Anyhow, when I would come home to visit (I’m from Chicago and went to school in Iowa) my friends would be like, “Oh gurl your hair is a mess!”  Because it wasn’t straightened or anything, it was just… as is, really, maybe with a hat or something.  So I thought, straight hair was always, always the way to go.

The funny thing is that my hair gets this way so easily!  It’s so thick and really gets wild without me really trying.  All I did was take a shower, braid two ponytails, and went to sleep.  When I woke up I undid the ponytails and brushed my hair out.  And ta da.  Maybe it’s meant to be  ^^ My mom is super excited, because she does a billion things to her hair and wears it with pride, so when I’m like, “Gonna try natural,” or, “Gonna get it colored,” or even, “Wearing a blue wig today,” she’s like, “HELL YEAH GIRL!”
