Hey! I wanted to show you this cosplay, because uh… I’m not sure if I’ll ever use it outside my bedroom. Because uh, you see… I’m a man. And I’m cosplaying Kanaya Maryam, a female character from Homestuck. So I’m kinda… Scared? I don’t know. Anyway, just wanted to show you, and say that both your courage and your cosplays are beautiful and inspiring. Thanks a lot.

My response:  I’m not into Homestuck but I have to say, wow.  First of all I wouldn’t have even thought you were a man until you said something, so great job nailing that!  This looks really great!  You look kinda sexy actually, with the black lipstick and everything.  I approve <3

I really enjoy crossplay, to be honest.  It’s actually kind of near and dear to me, because I have a good friend who does it.  When I first met her she was doing an incredible Mami from Madoka Magica, and we told her this and it touched her so much.  She said a lot of people had been mean to her about it and I was like, “omfg you look amazing though!”  But I found out my words (and my wifey’s words) meant so much because she’s actually trans.  She was a man.  Now, she’s in the middle of transition, and it’s been really amazing seeing the progress.  Like, she has breasts now and everything.  They aren’t super huge or anything but they’re there.  And we’ve been there through the whole thing :) 

I’m not sure if that’s your story or anything, but I know that some guys get crap for wanting to cosplay females, even if its a female that isn’t super feminine?  Like I saw someone worried about cosplaying Naoto Shirogane and she is posing as a boy.  I also really like crossplay, though.  I mean if us ladies can do it, why can’t men?  

By the way, you’re my first submission!  So thank you for that  :)  Thank you for sharing, and I hope you leave the bedroom with this one day.  I think you did a great job and I don’t even read Homestuck  <3
