Rape Culture isn’t real?

evaneo

i cant even comprehend that there are people who say yes this

japhettheprophet

okay but look.

FEMALES ARE SAYING YES TOO.

Granted, it’s less than males, but they are still saying yes.

THAT MEANS THAT NOT ONLY DO WE NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB OF TEACHING MALES TO NOT RAPE, BUT WE NEED TO TEACH FEMALES TO KNOW WHAT RAPE IS.

IT IS RAPE IF YOU WERE GOING TO AND THEN CHANGE YOUR MIND.

IT IS RAPE IF YOU “LEAD HIM ON” BUT DON’T ACTUALLY WANT SEX.

IT IS RAPE IF YOU HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR A LONG TIME.

So don’t only accuse males of perpetuating rape culture, because females need re-educating too.

They might also be the female rapists

This is scary, because I will never forget this moment in one of my writing classes in college.  We were reading a story about a woman driving across the country.  When she hit 12 hours she stopped at a gas station, went to the bathroom, and took off her bra because… 12 hours driving, yeah, bra gets removed because she’s tired and stuff.

Anyhow, she goes back to driving (she has a shirt on of course just no bra on) and some guy followers her.

And a girl in our class actually said:

“Well it’s her fault for taking off her bra.”

The look on our teacher’s face (and all of our faces, including the guys in the classroom) was just so shocked, like, did she really just say that?

So yeah, on the one hand, yes it could be female rapists.  On the other hand, it could also be girls like the one in my class, who actually thought that the woman was at fault.

Could you just imagine believing that?  Believing things like, “it’s because I wore this,” or, “it’s because I was walking to my car alone at night,” like could you imagine believing that?  That’s horrifying.  I think the scariest part is that this was asked of HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!  That’s what, 13-17 year olds. Male and female.  Saying yes.  Just… *shudders*
