The Inner Workings of a Chibi.
(I know I'm a little late to the party) Explain the ships: 1)Reigisa 2)RinHaru, MakoHaru, RinHaruMako (because I know this is how this OT3 breaks down for you from our other discussions) and finally 3)Madoka x Homura

1.  Reigisa

Oh man.  So I feel like, in the beginning, for Nagisa, Rei was just like… a new toy to play with.  That sounds terrible, but I feel like Rei was like, the new shiny thing for him to follow around and be caught up in.  Rei was a new thing to poke at, because Mako and Haru already know how Nagisa is.  But, as time went on, I think Nagisa really fell in love with Rei.  I mean, we all did, didn’t we?  Rei went from being this giant dork to just, really, the best character in the series.  He not only asks all of the questions we had (What happened in Australia, Rin?  Why are you guys not talking?  What do these boys mean to you?  ect.), but he essentially fixes the team.  He also has very real reactions, like, “I quit the track team for this I deserve to know what’s going on.”  And even after that, he stepped back to give the team what they needed.

It’s hard not to love him after that.

So I think, from the first moment they met when Nagisa was like, “It’s because you looked beautiful,” I think by the last episode Nagisa’s tone changed to, “It’s because you are beautiful.”

2.  RinHaru/MakoHaru/the OT3

I know the fandom fights about this, but honestly, I see it in all ways.  It’s clear to be that Mako and Haru are pretty much husbands, but Rin is like, this force, this sort of chaos that Haru not only craves, but needs in his life.  And Mako is the type to understand that, and even appreciate it.  I think Mako brings out something different in Haru, as does Rin.  I also think that Haru genuinely cares for both of them.  Mako is something Haru can always, always depend on, and he knows that he’ll always be there.  Rin is something hot, and fresh, and just too tempting for his own good.  Mako lets Haru swim, for example, while Rin makes Haru question why he likes doing it.  It’s two different things, but both equally important in Haru’s life.  And I think Rin can appreciate what Mako does for Haru, and Mako can appreciate what Rin does for Haru.

3.  Madoka x Homura

It’s like this tragic love story that’s never meant to be, no matter how hard they try.  What’s worse is when you find out that Madoka was a magical girl first, you know?  Like, you’re watching and thinking it’s been Homura, then episode 10 happens and its like, “Oh god Homura got involved in this because of Madoka!”  And just, o.k., even if you don’t see yuri, you have to see that there’s strong feelings there.  And it’s not one-sided, not really, which is actually more painful.  Each time Homura and Madoka get another chance, and those feelings develop again, and again, and again, until Homura decides to tackle it on her on which… doesn’t work.  Even when she fought by herself and didn’t even talk to Madoka it was like, “Nope.”

I do ship them, so hard, but I never actively go out looking for art or fic because they make me so sad.  Right up there with like, Seishiro and Subaru from X/1999… although THAT SHIP is still my number one “going to cry into my pillow forever now” ship.  As much as Madoka and Homura are painful to watch, nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Seishiro and Subaru for me.  Can’t even begin to describe the pain of those two.
