My dear brother…

This is for your own good.

Shut the fuck up. Have a seat and shut the LONG THE WAY fuck up.

Thank you. I love you.

I’m really sick of people suggesting that watching Scandal makes black women hypocrites.

Scandal is a FICTIONAL TELEVISION SHOW.  Watching it does not mean you endorse adultery (which…let’s be real, that’s the TAMEST theme on the show) the same way loving Breaking Bad doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and start selling meth. You can be proud of Lupita, Kerry and Shonda because they’re incredible and inspiring black women who are opening doors and breaking down barriers in Hollywood. There’s no conflict of interest there.

If I wanna twerk on Thursday nights and give Shonda all my edges that’s my damn business. It doesn’t take away from the pride I felt when Lupita won her Oscar, nor is it “fucking it up” for anyone else.

Also, can we be happy for a moment?  Can we have something good happen in the black community without a, “Whatever, you’re going to dishonor it in two days,” response?  I mean, damn, this is a big deal, this is good, celebrate a black woman’s success.  Hell, celebrate the black community’s success.

Also can we get over the “black folks just twerk and show no respect” mentality?  You assume everyone who “twerks” is just some degenerate black person who does nothing else?  What, we have to be serious face all the time?  We can’t have a moment of running out and trying to get into a selfie pic with Ellen and the other folks having fun at the Oscars? Oh wait…

Stop assuming this whole “y'all gonna forget about this and be twerkin’ all night” nonsense.  I’m not going to forget what happened last night, even if I’m “twerking” later (which for me is more “playing video games and goofing off when I don’t have work to do.”)
