Please reblog this if fanfiction has been beneficial to your mental health.

Like you have no idea..

In all seriousness, huge thank you to @crandberrycrush @kanaevr @xairylle @celestialgunfireopera @atomicblonde @inkspillsnotebook @weirdfairytales @feels-like-fire for their amazing fics/writing that allow a momentary escape from reality –> sanity (I was in a pretty dark place a couple months back and y'all have no idea how much your writing helped)

Thank you, beautiful human. As long as our words reach your heart and warm it for the day or night. Keep on keeping on, friend!

Oh man yall know how much I love you guys. I wrote an entire post about this but still @atomicblonde (even though I’m reblogging this from you lol), @driftingglass @kanaevr @brickskcirb @colourlesszero @pearliegrimm @inkspillsnotebook

I can’t think of any more people off the top of my head but i love all u writers ♡♡ and i have found healing in all your writing ♡♡♡

Ohhhmy God if you guys keep tagging me in this sweet shit I’ll actually die OTL

Spent a solid 2 or 3 months straight (literally would pick up my phone and start reading right when I woke up for the day and until I fell back to sleep) reading BNHA fanfic. Was one of the worse episodes I’ve ever had after one of the shittiest couple of days of my life and pretty much everyone kept me stay sane and afloat. So yeah, thanks guys ♡

@pearliegrimm @kanaevr @driftingglass @inkspillsnotebook @pro-derp @atomicblonde @xairylle and fuck ton more of you. I’m bad with remembering names and not everyone has a Tumblr. But yeah, thanks again lol

PHEW let me tell you how writing fanfiction is reigniting my creativity and how helpful that is to a full-time writer because LOOOOOOORD…

Like yes, writing is fun, but like any career it will BURN YOU OUT. Here’s a look at my day:

  • Trying to work on a book.
  • Pitching article ideas on pop culture/social justice/whatever my muses come up with.
  • Writing scripts for WatchMojo.com.
  • Writing whatever articles get picked up.
  • Trying to find events/conventions to go to so I can promote my work (and my partner’s work).
  • Trying to figure out how to pay for said events unless we get invited, in which case:
  • Putting together panels/presentations for events/conventions.
  • Trying to be active/present on social media.

But after stumbling into BNHA and engaging with the fandom and legit signing up for an a03 account and writing for something other than “THIS IS YOUR JOB WRITE ALL THE THINGS” my creative muses are like “THANK GOD FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE ABOUT SHIPS AND ENJOY A THING FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN WORK!”

Like I just got edits back for an article I submitted that is a pretty emotionally draining topic (whee for being fat and black and queer and living in this world we live in y’all) and like, it was the LEAST amount of edits I’ve gotten back on a piece in a while, because my brain isn’t fried, because I take time to write about a kid with green hair, freckles, a dream, and a hostile explody dude who serves as his rival/perfect for shipping/whatever I wanna do with it because there’s NO PRESSURE!

So it’s not just the reading of fanfic that helps, writing it helps, too.

We’re in the final week of the magnifiqueNOIR Kickstarter! We may have a long way to go but a lot can happen in a week! There’s still time to bring these magical girls to life! Keep sharing, keep pledging, keep talking about it, keep at it! We can definitely make this work <3 <3 <3

Remember: You are Magical :)

To celebrate 100 backers (WHOO!) I wanted to share a picture with all of you. One of the freebees you get from pledging is a coloring page of all the girls cosplaying. I colored it in to show one of the ways you can color it. You can also print it out and color it that way, too, which I’ll share a pic of later.

This coloring page was actually drawn by ME! I don’t do too much drawing, to be honest. I’m usually writing or crafting, so this is the first project I’ve had where I’ve done some illustrations (this coloring page and the mini comics that’ll be in the book).

Thank you so much, everyone, for your continued support. We have two weeks left so let’s make this happen! Share! Pledge! Drink hot chocolate because it’s tasty!

Keep at it, magical ones <3

You hear all these “you’re not a real fan unless” and it lists a hundred things, but I met a dude today who saw my Deadpool pin and asked what my favorite story arc was, and I explained that while I loved Deadpool, I was new to Marvel (I only really got into it a year and a half ago) and hadn’t been able to find a lot of the comics. Instead of making a face or a derogatory comment, he just offered to send me all the stuff he had. That is a true fan.

That is a true fan.  THANK YOU!

Every fandom has its downside.  People are a part of a fandom and some people just don’t know how to play nice and ABSOLUTELY MUST BE RIGHT GODDAMNIT! Every fandom I’ve been in ever has always had some sort of drama.

“Who’s on top” wars (thanks SasuNaru fandom for introducing me to that, seriously, destructive debates on whether or not Sasuke was on top or Naruto was on top.  We all shipped the two of them together but the drama came from who topped who).

“Which pairing is best” wars (all, extra bonus if the same character is involved multiple times:  MakoHaru versus RinHaru).

“This character is/isn’t gay” wars (all, especially Persona 4 and Kanji).

“This is canon and here’s why” debates (all).

“This character is (insert label here) and here’s why” debates (all).

“How could you like this character when they’ve done this and this and this” debates (all, a good example is Adachi from Persona 4).

“This female character is a bitch and here’s why” debates (Gundam Wing, Naruto, any lady who interrupts the yaoi, ect., even if she isn’t in the way at all and the yaoi isn’t canon)

“This character looks like (this) stop making him/her look like (that),” debates (pick a fandom, really, and change the character in some way — genderbent, racebent, ect.  Or, in Persona 4’s case, the trans Naoto debates)

It goes on and on and on, but it’s important to remember the good in fandom, which is when you meet those awesome people who you just click with.  Not to mention the creativity in fandom (fics, art, vids, cosplay, ect.)  There’s good in fandom, trust me  :)

I still remember the good, and I’ll always be thankful for those small but meaningful moments where people aren’t acting like spoiled little brats. I think I’m overly bitter with this fandom more than others because of how much I love the games. I’m just tired, oh so tired. Three years of seeing this thing grow from lovable to unbearable breaks you.

I’m hiding a lot more resentment than I’m showing or ever will show. I will refrain myself from doing anything unforgivable, although my patience is easily triggered. The less I involve myself the better. I don’t want to relive some bad experiences.

I know this feel.  This was me and Naruto.  I loved that fandom so much. I wrote so much fic for it, long fic, chapters and chapters, fic challenges and everything.  I mean hell, my first book started from an unfinished Naruto fanfic.  That fandom was my baby.  Gundam Wing was my first, and Yu Yu Hakusho the second, but I invested SO MUCH TIME in Naruto.

But the drama, just, omg.  I will never forget the SasuNaru vs NaruSasu war on livejournal, just… so many comments, SO MANY, you’d think they were debating the presidential election.  So much hatred, and anger, over WHO WAS ON TOP!  Then there was the Sakura hate, the, “OMG SHE’S IN THE WAY,” even after she had a part where she said she wanted to help bring Sasuke back for Naruto’s sake.  Just… so much, so much, and I felt so bad, but then I remembered all the good.  Without that fandom, I wouldn’t have started my book, or hell, the book I have with my partner.  It all started with fandom and random roleplaying.  I’ve also made some good friends through that fandom, who I still talk to even if I’m not a part of it anymore (which isn’t because the drama drove me away, I just got tired of reading the manga).

So yeah it sucks, but just hold onto the things that made you love the fandom in the first place.  That’s never going to go away.  The characters are still awesome, the plot is still great, there’s so much to love about Persona 4 :)

mikumari:

You’re stronger than me. Between the milking of P4, the bullshit direction its story has been going, and the moronic fandom, I’ve pretty much forgotten why I loved the series in the first place.

I’m so tired of it all that I’ve seriously been considering canceling my pre-orders.

Not looking for an argument here, but all of that is easily explained:

-The milking is Atlus’s way of raking up money so they can make more games without having to rely on a third party. Persona 4 is the one game that has reached people globally, so it’s their most secure way of income. They aren’t doing it to be greedy, it’s all for the growth of their company after getting their asses sued and bought off. The world of gaming economics is pretty expensive.

-The story isn’t going in any direction that doesn’t tie in to its original lore. I understand you don’t like certain characters or concepts, but if you were to analyse them without listening to fanon, you will be able to see that. I can’t go much into it because of spoilers, but Nenilein has made several posts that analyse several things, even to the existence of Marie. It’s just a matter of being unbiased and paying attention.

-The fandom is just dumb for the most part. No other point to it than that. It doesn’t mean they must define something though. Persona 4 will be what it is regardless of all the crap the fandumb spews. That’s why I’m not gonna bother with their shit anymore.

Every fandom has its downside.  People are a part of a fandom and some people just don’t know how to play nice and ABSOLUTELY MUST BE RIGHT GODDAMNIT! Every fandom I’ve been in ever has always had some sort of drama.

if i ever become famous i’m going to create a fake account on twitter and tumblr and be part of my own fandom and i will be like bffs with my fans and we’ll fangirl over myself but they would have no idea it’s me

and then one day i would call them on skype and see the blood run out of their faces

i’m afraid of you

I wanna do that

I wanna sit in a panel incognito and then raise my hand for a question then reveal its me.

I wanna walk around artist alley and see fanart of my characters, and request sketches and commissions.

I wanna take pictures with cosplayers.

I wanna do it all.

kingofbeartraps:

It drives me crazy when people who ship pairings with literally ZERO basis in canon go off on me about how what I ship is gross or invalid or impossible.

It’s like…brah, you’re shipping two characters who share less than ten minutes of screentime in a game series that takes 150+ hours to complete. One of these two characters is entirely motivated by their affection for another character. The other one shows mild interest in two other characters through the course of the series, and neither of those go anywhere because they don’t have time.

But oh, am I getting on your case for shipping something counter to what I ship in that fandom? Even though it has no basis? Of course not, it’s A PAIRING. It’s FICTIONAL PEOPLE IN A FICTIONAL RELATIONSHIP.

So then why in the WORLD do these people always feel it necessary to get on my case for shipping ANYTHING?

It’s like OGC Tseng/Rufus shippers all over again. (For anyone who doesn’t understand this reference, Tseng and Rufus share no screentime whatsoever in OGC. Period. They aren’t seen in the same frame until the latter portion of AC, and Tseng has no speaking lines in the two short segments where he’s shown in Rufus’ presence. In OGC Tseng shows no interest in anyone except for Aerith—who is notably younger than him and he kidnapped and beat because orders are orders—and Elena—who is even MORE notably younger than him, like uncomfortably so. Tseng/Rufus remains one of the biggest pairings in the FF7 fandom, and to a lot of people for a very long time it was a very big no-no to ship Tseng with anyone else, on the basis of “characterization.” Even though they didn’t actually talk to each other in a canon source until almost ten years after the original game was released.)

This reminds me of Gundam Wing and people shipping Duo and Zechs because they look good together (all that gorgeous hair you know, but I don’t think they talk at all in the series).  And I’m not saying you can’t ship them, ship who you want who cares, but then to turn around and be like, “But how can you ship Heero and Duo, Duo and Zechs is pure and holy and God him/herself told me this pairing is canon,” is just crazy.  Let people ship whoever the heck they want  :)

You know what?  With our books coming out and whatnot I dream of the day when they become so popular there are fandoms, and people shipping characters, and I’m waiting for the ships to be created that I never thought of, or even if in the book I have Character A with Character B fics spring up for Character A with Character 21.  And that will be cool with me, that’ll be amazing, I’m not going to be like, “NOW HOLD ON WAIT A MINUTE!”  Because it’s fandom, and fun, and I can’t wait to see what people come up with  :)  Like please ship my characters, please do the thing  <3
