A bunch of stuff to talk about this morning! We got some more “Seeking the Storyteller” art. We got another excerpt you can check out. And there’s an event where you can get the ebook for 99 cents. You read that right, 99 cents! For Mother’s Day weekend “Seeking the Storyteller” is on sale, so now is a great time to get it if you haven’t done so already!
Now, onto the fanart. This piece of fanart is by the extremely talented Sean Iredale, who we met along with Tyler Hansen during Wizard World. This is Atticus, a villain who is whispered about in the first book who plays a major part throughout the series. Sean really captured his scary epic power here.

Suddenly he was racing down the hallway, pushing open a set of large, double doors. Hanzo’s back was to him as he helped a young girl walk through a hidden passage in the wall. “Just go!” He screamed to her, “Your mother and I will catch up, I promise!”
But he had broken that promise.
Hanzo had never caught up and neither did the girl’s mother. Haven could now feel the choking sting of sadness against the back of his throat, could taste the regret, the anger, the fear. He knew that these feelings were coming from his dragon, but they were so strong that they gnawed at his stomach as if they were his own. He was the one who couldn’t protect his friends and family from this man, this man he did and did not know. This man, this Atticus, who floated above everything as the entire area crumbled around him. He could hear him laughing, the sound reverberating through his mind and his entire body.

THIS WEEKEND is the ONLY time you can get a copy of the ebook for 99 cents, so if you’re looking for a good supernatural story to read, now is the time!
SPREAD THE WORD! It’s a special weekend sale for Mother’s Day. Our book is only 99 cents for the entire weekend! Now is a really good time to snag a copy and, as always, please leave a review to let us know what you think <3

So we had an artist do a sketch of one of the characters from “Seeking the Storyteller.” This is actually her look from the second book, which is in the works, but he captured her style perfectly. Her name is Katalynne Cove and she works for Randall Fagan, one of the Hunters in the story.
Here is the picture and an excerpt from her debut in the first book. Thanks goes to Chad Jasper of Freaky Atomic Robot Zombies Studios, whose website is here: http://www.farzstudios.com/MAIN/FREAKY_MAIN.html

“He was cleared of those charges,” Katalynne said, remembering the pointless mess she had to deal with a couple of months ago. Three dead bodies, two of which were students on campus, with the same evidence of a brutal sword attack but no proof that the sword belonged to her boss. “In fact, I believe you were in the courtroom at the time.”
“Doesn’t mean Randall Fagan isn’t a psychotic killer. The public has seen the pictures. There are bodies and sightings of him during the night in different neighborhoods. Just because the police can’t link the bodies doesn’t mean he’s not responsible.”
Katalynne rolled her eyes, disinterest in anything the woman had to say. “And I suppose you believe in his partner, Bigfoot, as well?”
Liza ignored the jest and kept pushing. “How about you, Ms. Cove? What exactly do you do for him that pays your bills? You left a highly lucrative job as a personal assistant for one of the leading law firms in the state to work for this man? What does he pay you for?”
“I pick up his dry cleaning.”

Oh snap, did somebody say character sketch and book excerpt?
huntersseries:
“I know of the Storyteller,” it whispers into the man’s ear, “I’ve met him. If you promise not to kill me, I’ll take you to him.”
Did you miss getting a signed copy of “Seeking the Storyteller” at one of our conventions? Would you like a signed copy complete with a one of a kind sketch in the front of one of the characters? Of course you would! Check out our Etsy store for your copy now!
All right. This is a thing now. And it’s taking a while for it to set in that it is a thing, but it’s a thing, and I want this thing to shine. Spread the word, get a copy, leave a review, this whole thing means the world to me and my partner. This is our baby. It sounds weird, but it is. This is how we stayed in touch while we lived apart and it’s so hard to believe after all of these years, this is a thing now.
So help us get it out there <3 And, most of all, enjoy it.
hi bri! - yeah, how do you explain the fact that it's so often fictional heroes or heroines becoming role models and not "real people"? i mean, even robin hood whom i was OBSESSED with when i was younger is a hero somewhere out of history and legend.
It’s because fictional characters can have real concerns. Like, the reason why I love Persona 4 so much is that the characters are teenagers with real concerns that teenagers would have, and concerns that people don’t address in teenagers. Too often they’re told “you’re too young to understand” and “wait until you’re older” and not taken seriously, but honestly, there’s so much growing up in high school and college, I hate that people just assume “you’re a kid, you don’t know any better.” Kid doesn’t mean incapable of feeling things, or being concerned about things. Kid doesn’t mean you just don’t know about being hurt, or being in love, or being worried about what other people think, and just… that’s not what being a kid is. Being a kid is about growing and becoming the person you want to be, and that’s hard to do if someone is like, “You don’t know any better.” Yeah, that may be, but that doesn’t mean you should treat them like they can’t grasp the concept of it, or have genuine concerns about their life.
This is really personal, but take my wifey for example. She came out to her parents and they said, “No you’re not,” and took her to therapy. How terrible is that? They’ve come around since then (because I mean, come on, 12 years with a girl?) but she essentially had to come out twice because the first time they were like, “Nope,” just because she was young. And sure, maybe there is a kid who thinks he’s gay, and maybe years later he’ll marry a lady, but it’s called growing up and discovering yourself. Don’t tell someone they don’t know what they’re talking about, don’t tell someone their feelings in the here and now are false.
Hell, I mean, look at a series like X-Men. Mutants are discriminated against because they’re different. You can fill in the blank with race, gender, sexuality, just… pick one. Just because it’s got superheroes who can control the weather or fly doesn’t mean they aren’t facing real issues. Look at Rogue, she can’t even touch the person she likes, and she struggles with that. So not only is the overall show a big metaphor for being different, but those characters who are different have their own things to deal with. What better way to address those issues than with something a younger audience would be interested in? I really like shows like that that aren’t afraid to go there just because it’s a “kid’s show.” Like Adventure Time? I haven’t seen much of it, but from what I’ve seen on Tumblr there are some solid lessons to be learned, and it’s not preaching them, it’s just part of the story. It’s not like, “Now son sit down and let me tell you about being kind to others,” it just… is. And that’s great.
Reblog if you have mourned the death of a fictional character.

Fuck you who said you could bring Mufasa into this
I don’t understand why this does not have more notes. There are more then 358,000 people on Tumblr.
Hell I mourn the death of the fictional characters I write and I created them myself, then I wonder if I’ll ever see a post like this in regards to my characters. That’s the writing dream. Checking Tumblr one day and seeing people flipping out because someone I created got killed.

Another piece of art we got from Meta con 2013.
This piece was done by the awesome munny artist at the table next to us http://arc-onic.deviantart.com/
The hunter watched as the shadows pulled back like a receding wave of dark black. A figure stepped out of the shadows, the waves parting for him like a curtain. Its feet were silent against the uneven concrete, gently touching the floor like a trained dancer. It was tall and skinny, the type of thinness that reminded Alix of news reports of war torn countries where the people looked like they never ate. Despite its malnourished appearance no bones showed through his skin, but the texture of its flesh almost looked like a frozen liquid, small ripples flowing down its arms and chest. Its skin was a color similar to runny ink pens, the black seeming to bleed into the concrete. Its eyes were hollow, missing pupils, and deep like endless black holes that made Alix wonder how the creature could see in front of him.
In contrast to its creepy, elongated features two large ears flapped down around its head, giving the creature a strange resemblance of a playful puppy, something that could be trusted — but Alix knew better. To think that creatures like this shadow dog — the closest thing that Alix could associate the demon with — sparked nightmarish stories of demons and other religious fodder was laughable. What stood in front of him now certainly didn’t look like the demons the rest of the human world was so familiar with. In fact, there was a good portion of them that probably would have thought that this inhuman thing was, dare he say, cute, something to keep as a pet and make do tricks for spoiled little children.
Alix was disgusted by the thought.

Meet Dox, one of the creatures from “Seeking the Storyteller.” This first upcoming book is part of the “Hunters” series by myself and my wifey.
More book stuff! Get excited, it’s coming soon!
Original Story: First Date 1/?
brichibiwritesthings:

So my wifey has come up with a rather interesting way to get people excited for our books: write little side stories to them. The side stories let you get to know the characters before the release of the book and serve as little prequels to the book. These side stories are FREE TO READ, and will be posted on our writing blogs and whatnot. Perhaps someday we’ll look at getting them available for e-readers?
“Double Hue,” is an upcoming supernatural gay romance thriller I have coming out. It’s set for November. However, before November comes, you can read these stories about the characters in the book. Gable Peterson is the lead character and has been with his boyfriend, Avery Blair, for 4 years. One day, Gable gets devastating news that Avery is dead. Unbeknownst to Gable, he has a unique ability where he can go back in time. He’s able to go back to the beginning of the week and try and prevent Avery’s death from happening.
Of course, it’s never that easy.
Before the thriller is released, check out this first of (hopefully) several side stories. ”First Date” is the story of Gable and Avery’s first date, and how they started at a couple. They’re both college students at the U of M, and Avery has a tendency to fall asleep in class ^^
Warnings for this part: Semi NSFW, M/M romance

A prequel/teaser to my upcoming book “Double Hue.” I will be writing these little teasers that lead up to the book, which should be released in November. These are free to read and will just be posted here (my publisher liked this idea a lot so I’m going for it ^^)
If you can think of other places where I can post this to get people excited for the book release, let me know :) I’ve thought of “Fiction Press” so far, since they do original fiction.
As always, check out my writing on my writing blog AND my Facebook author page. Actually website coming soon :)

All done with my commission for the promo art for Press START to Play! I’m SO THRILLED with how this came out!
An art commission for my gay romance short story, “Press START to Play.” These are the two main characters. I am so incredibly happy with how this turned out. I’m going to be making postcards for conventions and posting it wherever I can. Seriously, this is more than I could ever ask for :) You know you have a good artist when they read the story and give you a game screen in the background without you even saying anything ^^
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuh my brain is in a happy melty place of pretty things.
brichibiwritesthings:
*incoherent noises* How sexy are these guys? I commissioned the lovely ladies of Grave Impressions to do art of Lukis and Aaron, the men of my short story, “Press START to Play.” I wanted to have art that really related to the story so I could have post cards for it at conventions and stuff. I’m planning on doing the same thing for my book, the details are getting worked out right now.
I got a sketch preview today and it’s coming together nicely! Have you read the story yet? You can find it on Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online outlets. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
Here are links to the story:
Dreamspinner Press is here.
Amazon is here.
Barnes and Noble is here.
