The Inner Workings of a Chibi.
A series of book ideas

brichibiwritesthings:

I had a thought of writing some sort of Geeky GLBT romance anthology thing while at Animinneapolis this weekend. You know, book one would be about conventions, book two would be about video games, book three would be about fanfiction, and so on and so forth. I guess the question is, do I write it strictly as gay romance, or should it be all sorts of romance (gay, lesbian, straight, trans, bi, asexual, and so on and so forth).  Because I think I would like to try and tackle everything over the course of the books which would require a bunch of research on things I find interesting, but know nothing about.  I would really like to try writing things for underrepresented couples, like asexual couples and things like that.

Thoughts?  Advice?

Reblogging so more people can see and chime in on this idea  :)

What we didn’t have yesterday.

This is amazing.

In the middle of the awesome news about Texas, let’s take a moment to cheer about DOMA and PROP 8 no longer being things.  Good job, Supreme Court.  And good job, Texas.  Just good job everyone.  Good job today.

All done with my commission for the promo art for Press START to Play! I’m SO THRILLED with how this came out!

An art commission for my gay romance short story, “Press START to Play.”  These are the two main characters.  I am so incredibly happy with how this turned out.  I’m going to be making postcards for conventions and posting it wherever I can.  Seriously, this is more than I could ever ask for  :)  You know you have a good artist when they read the story and give you a game screen in the background without you even saying anything ^^

Guuuuuuuuuuuuuh my brain is in a happy melty place of pretty things.

*incoherent noises* How sexy are these guys? I commissioned the lovely ladies of Grave Impressions to do art of Lukis and Aaron, the men of my short story, “Press START to Play.” I wanted to have art that really related to the story so I could have post cards for it at conventions and stuff. I’m planning on doing the same thing for my book, the details are getting worked out right now.

I got a sketch preview today and it’s coming together nicely! Have you read the story yet? You can find it on Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online outlets. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Here are links to the story:

Short Story: Press START to Play

brichibiwritesthings:

Good morning, everyone! Today is the big day! I’m going to post the short story first since that’s all ready to go :) My book should be ready for purchase later, there seems to be some kinks with the publisher’s website at the moment for the new releases.

So the gay romance story for Dreamspinner Press is “Press START to Play,” also known as, “That one story I forgot to let my mom read.” It’s eBook only, but it looks like there are several different electronic formats for it. Keep in mind that this story is NOT WORKSAFE BY ANY MEANS as it involves geekery, gaming, and sexy times between men.

There are two ways to read the story:

1. Buy the individual story itself for $3. That’s right, only $3 to get all of the wonderful video game references and romance that you want.

2. Buy the entire anthology to read over 1500 pages from other talented authors. It is the “Make a Play” sports anthology (yes I wrote about video games for a sports anthology guys)

Since this is release day I thought I would give you something more than that. How about a snippet from the story? And remember, don’t just buy the story, read it, enjoy it, tell me what you think, and tell others about it. Blog about it, review it, spread it around so that it’s EVERYWHERE!

Take care, everyone, and I’ll post in a couple of hours about the book :)

Lukis takes the controller, watching as the game loads and the animated sequence begins. The graphics are impressive—he guesses. The art style is interesting and themusic is catchy. He’s surprised when he realizes he recognizes some of the characters—various superheroes from the huge movie releases over the summer. There’s Spider-Man, who seems to have recovered from losing his uncle and fighting the giant lizard. Then there’s the Avengers, a team of attractive superheroes run by an angry black guy in an eye patch. “They in a fightin’ game?”

“Yep. It’s a combination of heroes and video-game characters. Figured you’d at least know who some of these guys are. Everyone does.”

Lukis frowns. “Where’s Batman?”

“Batman’s not in this. He’s DC, this is Marvel.”

“But Batman is cool. You said heroes, he should be here.”

Aaron laughs. “I ain’t sayin’ he ain’t cool, I’m just lettin’ ya know that he ain’t in this game. Marvel and DC are two different comic book companies. You know, it’d be like if our home football team and the rival team were in a game.”

“They are. It’s called Madden.”

It’s easy to tell how much fun I had with this, huh?

And just a message in advance, thank you everyone for your support.  I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed writing it.  And as I said, don’t just buy it, read it, enjoy it, chat with me about it, tell your friends, talk about it with your friends, I want this story to get big.  Review it, blog about it, tell me places to go where I should have people review it, draw fanart for it, just anything you can think of.  As fun as it was to write it, I do actually have an important message in it that means a lot to me: stop assuming that geeks are just a waste of space.  Just because we like video games, or anime, or whatever it is that we’re into doesn’t mean that we’re these losers with no lives.  Also, and this is a big one, BLACK GEEKS EXIST!  Stop being surprised about it.  I made my characters black on purpose.  I made the geeky gamer black because for some reason, I swear, people are still surprised when we play something other than like football or basketball or warshooter warfare shooter shooting.

So yeah, enjoy this piece by me  :)  $3 worth of entertainment, I promise you ^^

All right guys.  Today is the day, as Aqualad says in Young Justice.  This is the short story, the book will be posted later once the link starts working :)  Until then, enjoy this thing I wrote about a gaming skeptic falling for a gaming geek.  And remember: Batman is cool, he’s just not Marvel.  And please, please tell other people about this, encourage them to read it too, and most definitely encourage them to talk to me about it (and you guys, talk to me about the story too!  Tell me what you think ^^)  $3 gets you an entertaining story where I snuck all sorts of geeky nods into a wide publication, from the snippet, to Street Fighter, even Persona 4 Arena makes it in.  I went all out and I had a blast, so I want you all to enjoy it, too  :)

Minnesota House PASSED the freedom to marry bill.  Now it moves onto the Senate on Monday.  If it passes there, then I begin my epic plan for the biggest, geekiest wedding EVER!

HOMG they’re voting on the Marriage Bill in Minnesota on Thursday guys what if i can actually get my big fat geek wedding after all like YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND I never thought this would be a thing!

Pssst… Gay Marriage is not being “legalized”

It’s essentially like the “Vote No” campaign last year, as in, we weren’t voting to make it legal in Minnesota, we were voting so that they couldn’t make it illegal in the books.  Still very important, though.  It might not be a flat out “yes,” but it stops it from being a flat out “no” and gives us hope that, someday, it can be a “yes.”

For example.  Vote No won last year here in Minnesota (yay!) so, currently, they can take the next step  :)

Marriage Letter - From a woman who loves another woman

brichibiwritesthings:

snowtigra:

(Ok, this is serious guys and I felt the need to write something with all of the court cases going on right now.  I need to write this down, so to speak.)

My marriage doesn’t cheapen yours.  My marriage doesn’t affect yours.  In fact, I’ll be frank, my marriage has nothing to do with you.

My marriage has to do with her.  The woman I love, who I’ve loved for over 10 years.  We’ve been through a lot of crap and we have come out happier and closer than I ever thought possible.  Marriage would be about giving her something that society has taught all women to dream of from the moment we could walk and try on frilly fancy dresses.  But it’s more than that.

Beyond the desire to walk down an isle in a beautiful white dress, it’s the commitment.  I want to give her a ring, I want to sign the certificate and I want the physical moment of marrying her in front of family and friends.  I want to stand up in front of a room and state in terms that everyone is familiar with that I love this woman and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I want to give that moment to her, her family, her parents, my parents and everyone else around us who’s supported us along the way.

Things like taxes, and ownership and legality and such are secondary.  It’s the commitment that is important and I’m pretty sure that - still - none of this has anything to do with the people who say we can’t get married. Marriage is about the commitment between me and her and nothing else.

So, based on that, why can’t I just marry her now without legal crap?  I mean, technically, we’re planning on having a hand fasting anyway - a Pagan marriage - so why do I even need to have the government’s blessings?  That’s what you’re thinking right?

Marriage is important, because at its base, it’s the promise to the world that you will care, love and take care of this person in front of you.  I know society has changed and even I’m asking for marriage to change, but at the core, the meaning is still the same.  I want to marry her and swear that I will take care of her.  And in that same vein I don’t want to cheapen my promise in a fake ceremony or something that’s incomplete, because to me it feels like I’m lying.  If the marriage is fake and not recognized, then that just hands haters a way to say ‘you don’t love her, because you can’t give her what she’s supposed to have: a man.’

I could write all day and make all sorts of anthropological arguments, pro equality arguments and everything else, but I’m not going to.  It’s about that, and at the same time it isn’t.

The right to marriage is important to me, because I want to give it to her.  It’s important to us.  Because marriage is about the couple, it’s their day.  It would be our day.  Not yours.  It doesn’t affect your day.

It is our day. We should be able to have that day too.

Uh…

I’m just gonna reblog this and go cry somewhere.  My partner wrote this for me.  I had no idea she was writing this.  I’m just going to marvel over the fact that someone wants to have this with me, you know, since I’m a huge spaz and flail over everything, like, OMG PUPPIES FLAIL!

But really, all joking aside, this is why this is so important to us.  And it has nothing to do with anyone else but us.  In no way does it cheapen anyone else’s marriage, hell, the only people who will see us get married are the people who love us, so I fail to see how that has anything to do with anyone outside my circle.

So… yeah I have no more words, she got it all down.

I <3 you snowtigra :)

Oh and good morning to all the new followers of the writing blog.  Um… here, have a wonderfully written letter about equality that’s not written by me but is written to me :)

Reblogging because there’s a lady in love with me  :)
