The birth and rage of a Persona user

The biggest mystery of the entire franchise:  why does he unbutton his jacket?  Like… is it hot when you summon your persona for the first time?  If that’s the case wouldn’t Yukiko be burning up?  Or maybe the school uniform jacket is too warm, or maybe it tightens up?  In that case Naoto would have to do the same, so would Yosuke…

… I just need answers is all.

ADACHI’S TANTRUM - ENGLISH DUB

Watch as Johnny Yong Bosch cries over Johnny Yong Bosch.

It’s the cutest shit.

My thoughts:  I wish I could’ve been in the recording studio to see this go down.

Persona 4 the animation part two dub first impressions

Can I just…

For a moment…

I know the P4 anime has its ups and downs, but I have to say, one of the things I really REALLY love about it is how shadows are handled.

I mean…

I really like that the anime takes advantage of the environments.  Yukiko in the bird cage, Rise and the multiple shadows, Naoto in the lab… just…

But Naoto’s shadow in particular…

I really like, first of all, how none of the characters pass out during the battles.  I mean I get it from a gaming standpoint, because you know, BOSS BATTLE and all that, but I really love how they are conscious – even Nanako in Heaven.  It’s like they really, REALLY have to face this thing, you know?

But anyhow, back to what I was saying about Naoto’s.

Besides the fact that she’s my favorite character, something about her shadow was a bit more sinister, to me.  Kind of on par with Yukiko being locked in a cage, she gets strapped to the table.  But it’s like, more dangerous, because of the impending operation, the chainsaws and all that other scary looking equipment.  A lot of shadows in the anime took it to a more dangerous level, but this one felt like, “I’m doing this, no matter what, just lay there for a moment then I’ll proceed with cutting you into pieces.”

That and she felt really, really alone.  She was in that room by herself facing her shadow.  But at the same time, this was the first shadow where someone was like, “You know what?  She needs to face this.  Let her get it all out.”  It was the first shadow (and ironically, the last, because facing Namatame/Adachi don’t really count for this) where I feel like the theme of the game really came through.  Yes, everyone faced their shadows in the end, but you always had that moment of the team being like, “No don’t say it!”  This one it was like, “No let her say it, she needs to.”  You need to break down sometimes, you know, before you can finally understand how important something is.

Well, here it is: the Hotel scene with the guys in the official Eng dub of the 2nd half of the anime. Also little tidbit of Matthew Mercer as Kanji replacing Troy Baker.

Yu/Souji makes a direct reference to Facebook. Let’s all flip tables, shall we?

This is so beautiful, I just…

And if you’re worried about Kanji’s new VA don’t be, he nails it  :)

I can’t wait to get this, huzzah for review copies of things  *__*

I suck at making friends, too! Big fuckin’ deal!

Can we just appreciate.

The fact that no matter how flustered Kanji gets around Naoto.

That when she needs him he’s right there?

Even if it was Souji/Yu who beat the shadow in the end, we all know who the hero of this episode was.

Then let’s remember how he had her back against Namatame, about Nanako being hurt, when fighting the Reaper, fighting Adachi, and just…

Let’s take a minute.

To appreciate.

This might sound a bit anime snobbish…

… but I recently watched the dub for the Persona 4 anime since I got the bluray to review, and I like the dub (always thought the dub cast was great since the original game release) but I noticed that they don’t have any of the Japanese honorifics in the dub for the anime.  I… don’t really get why, since not only did the original game keep them, but so did Arena.

Also… Yosuke doesn’t call Yu “partner,” which he also does in the original game and Arena.  And… him calling him “bro” just… doesn’t feel right.  And no, I’m not just saying that for my Yu/Souji/Yosuke pairing feelings, but just… in general, it doesn’t sound nearly as meaningful to me.

Here’s the review in case you’re curious, which I do mention this in: http://www.fandompost.com/2012/09/17/persona-4-the-animation-part-one-blu-ray-anime-review/

Am I just a snob for thinking this?  Am I being too picky?

This part.  This.  Part.  When “Time for True Revelation” plays.  I’m pretty sure they said that they never meant for it to be Kanji’s theme, but f that because it’s totally his theme.  So.  Bad.  Ass!

Got a chance to review the anime, at least the first half.  Check out the review, it’s beartastic!  (yes, I feel like a bad person for using that pun)
