If writing advice doesn’t work for you, don’t use it.
Can’t write every day? Don’t. Prefer to write every day? Cool, do that. If you find outlining useful, outline. Maybe try it, and if it doesn’t help you, don’t force yourself to stick with it. Use the advice–process-wise, stylistically, plot-wise–that makes your stories better, and if it isn’t working, find something else that will.
THIS.
Yep! When we do our writing panels at cons we say this ALL THE TIME! Try different things to see what works for YOU. Not all the same tips will work for everyone.
Here’s my schedule for Anime Detour! I’ll be in artist alley taking preorders for “magnifiqueNOIR” and I’ll have all kinds of new prints and other fun crafts with my partner :) HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!
Hey everyone! Getting ready for our first con of the year! We’ll be doing panels and we’ll have a table in the vendor room, where we’ll be taking preorders on “magnifiqueNOIR”, have prints available, and other fun crafts :)
Hope to see you there!
Preview snippet of a new project I’m working on that I kept forgetting to post about on my Tumblr. THE MISADVENTURES OF BLACK MAGICAL GIRLS!
Also known as “magnifiqueNOIR” thanks to a good friend helping me come up with a name.
So about a month ago I randomly did some woodburnings of some girls because I didn’t want to work on anything else. Overtime, those girls gained personalities, and back stories, and a plot has been brewing that I’ve been actively pursing so I can turn this into a book series of sorts with art, little comics, and things like that. So far I have three books planned that explore these girls, their relationships, and what it means to be magical.
I’ll post more things as they develop, but for now, I hope everyone enjoys what I have so far :)
Was this why? Was this the reason he’d told her to be quiet, because this needed to happen?
The middle of winter has given the residents of the warehouse plenty of time to mull over their last adventure. The Storyteller has been found, but has left behind only more questions and no real answers. Just when the group exhausts all of their resources, a new organization comes to the surface that could tie up all the loose threads.
Unfortunately, the Chapter isn’t what it appears to be, and the Hunters are now left to deal with a new threat that hits a little too close to home. What secrets is the Chapter hiding, and is it worth uncovering the truth?
The second book in our Hunters series is now available for preorder! The book is set to be released at the end of April, but you can preorder it now <3 <3 <3 There are three options:
1. A physical copy (signed by myself and my partner, the authors)
2. A combo package of the first book and second book (both signed by myself and my partner, the authors)
3. An ebook copy
Thank you, everyone, for your support :)
NaNoWriMo snippet
It must’ve been written in some Old World Testament: when you’re anxious for school to be over, time decides to take a personal call and ignore the growing line of customers. The slowdown doubled on Fridays, and tripled if the sun was beaming into the classroom to tease the students. “You could be out here right now if it weren’t for Mr. Stewart’s lecture.”
Brylie wondered if she could double check Grandmama’s Bible for confirmation in regards to the Testament and its opinion on school and Friday afternoons. Could she flip through the pages and see that Psalm number something or rather did, in fact, state that school had to take its time ending when the weekend was near? Then again, the elderly woman owned the New Testament – King James and all that – so the old rule may have been lost in translation. Besides, Brylie didn’t want to go anywhere near Grandmama’s drawer of religion, otherwise, she’d be roped into putting on her Sunday best and sitting in the Lord’s house for hours on end. The old woman would probably want her to wear that floral print dress she had gotten her for Christmas last year, complete with perfectly white tights covering her dark skin. Then she’d insist that she put a bow in her hair, probably tell her to straighten it so it didn’t look so wild. Someday Grandmama would realize that Brylie had outgrown the “Just For Me” perm kit and sunflower dress look years ago. She was sixteen now, for Christ’s sake.
“My Roommate’s Name Is” series
So while talking to my wifey last night we came up with a series of shorts for a book series we’re calling “My Roommate’s Name Is.” In my head, they would be comics, but since I don’t have any comic drawing skills I’m writing it out. So here’s the first part to the series!
Story One: “Steve”
Chapter One: “My Roommate is Noisy at Night and I Can’t Read My Comic Book”
Summary: Micah has a roommate who is noisy at night, therefore, he can’t read his comic book.
Warnings: NSFW overall due to sexual content (both heterosexual and LGBT) and possible violence.
Word Count: 902
