We just got the news that we will have an artist alley table at Anime Milwaukee this year!  And, if all goes well, we’ll also have printed copies of our books!  You should stop by - February 14th - 16th

http://www.animemilwaukee.com/

It’s official, we’re going to Anime Milwaukee!

ANNOUNCEMENT! We got confirmed for our table at Anime Central, so I’ll be at ACEN next year  <3

So here is a list of for sure conventions next year, and ones I want to try to go to (it depends on Artist Alley, but a few of these don’t have their page up yet)

Confirmed:
1. Anime Detour (here in Minnesota)
2. Anime Central (Illinois)
3. CONvergence (here in Minnesota, we just want to go to this one so we won’t have a table or anything)

Sent request for:
1. Colossalcon (in Ohio)
2. No Brand Con (in Wisconsin)

Will be trying for (and these are what I call the crazy ones since it requires a loooooot of driving):
1. San Japan (Texas, ironically it’s my birthday weekend)
2. Anime Iowa (it depends on what happens with the Texas con)
3. Otakon (Baltimore) or Otakuthon (Canada) – they’re both the same month and there’s no way we can do both I think, so it depends
4. Geek.kon (it depends on what happens with Otakon and stuff)
5. AWA (Atlanta)
6. Youmacon (Michigan)
7. Daishocon (Wisconsin, I think we just want to go back for fun and not for table)

I think that’s my list. It’s pretty… crazy, but with us having our book out and wanting to get it out there more along with artist alley stuff and cosplay, we’ve decided to try. This is almost a con a month starting in April, but this is inching us towards our dreams, because we want our book and everything else to be what we can focus on from now on

If anyone is planning on attending these cons and you see that the website is up (because some of them aren’t up yet), let me know so I can start looking into artist alley as soon as possible :)

We had a blast at ACEN! We sold a lot of books and met a bunch of great people while we were getting the word out about the comic and got to see a lot of good friends! Hi everybody! We miss you all already! *waves*

Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy of Grave Impressions, or a commission, or just took the time to stop by and chat! You all rock :D We want to send lots of love out to Chibi and Snow, who were our amazing table neighbors and new friends! Also, thank you to Trish, of MorphE, who did a lovely sketch of Howard and Dorothy for us as part of an art trade with me. It was lots of fun to hang out with Julie, from Ianua, too! We’re always happy to get to spend time with other comic creators (and you guys should totally go check out their comics while you’re waiting for the Grave Impressions Sunday Update)

See y’all at Anime Boston!

This was SO. MUCH. FUN!

YES! Yes it was :)

Our table neighbors were so awesome! We commissioned them for a sketch of Cyn and Haven from our book and their art style is so gorgeous, I can’t wait to see it! Their web comic is really good, too, I couldn’t put it down. I hope to hang with these ladies (and their cute British helper) again!

ACEN report thus far

1.  I’m apparently a gorgeous Princess Tiana and got my picture taken more times than I thought I would.  This led to me getting lots of free swag, from keychains to ice cream.  Also got recognized by non con-goers who were driving around and got my picture taken from someone’s car window.  Also, I caused quite a few people to squee in delight.  I consider this a win.

2.  My woodburning is apparently awesome, and one person expressed interest in hooking up in regards to an upcoming project he has while another expressed interest in getting an entire coffee table woodburned.

3.  Our table neighbors have an amazing webcomic called “Grave Impressions,” a 1940s yaoi comic that not only features older men, but is historically accurate to the time (as in, the characters use the same lingo from that time period, their clothes are accurate and everything).  They also do amazing watercolor fanart, so we commissioned them do to some of our characters from “Hunters: Seeking the Storyteller” and if that goes well we will commission more.  I will post pictures of the commissioned work on my writing blog.

4.  Old 1980s kung fu soap operas are gold.

5.  Yaya Han is the nicest person ever :)

6.  Kalafina gives an amazing concert and are also adorable as they attempt to speak English to thank everyone for coming.

7.  The traffic is still just as insane.

8.  HOMG NAOTO SHIROGANE FIGURE LESS THAN $100!!!

9.  Kanji and Naoto is everyone’s OTP at the con.  My headcanons bring joy to people who read them.  And they also bring me free stickers of Kanji dressed like a girl and an adorable Kanji keychain (I swear I got more free swag at this con than any other con).

10.  Somehow I gained more followers, like… 5.  I don’t even remember the cards having my tumblr on it, but… hi new followers :)

I think that’s everything so far?

Pffffft what the what Anime Detour?

They had an essay contest where they wanted people to talk about what Detour means to them, since this is their tenth year.  I thought, “Oh hey let me write a thing, because I really love Detour,” I’ve been going since year one and all.

So I wrote a thing.

And then I won a thing.

Yeah my essay won Anime Detour’s contest.

Excuse me because I can’t quite comprehend how this writing thing suddenly continues to go well like I mean-

It’s going to be in the program books and maybe on the website, which I’m taking as exposure if I can get my writing blog mentioned on it.  Perfect exposure to 5500 attendees, staff, guess, perfect exposure since, you know, need to get myself out there because of this whole book thing.

Hey there, karma, how are you?  I guess since last year was such a mess of things you’ve decided to make this year better?

Convention schedule

brichibiwritesthings:

Hello, dear followers.  Wow there’s more of you yay, welcome!  Hi!  Headcanons will probably be on a short hiatus so I can finish editing “Treat Me Kindly” to the publisher’s standards.  Shouldn’t take too much longer, I think?

So I’ve been thinking about making bookmarks for the conventions I go to, to pass out and advertise my writing, upcoming book, blog, and such.  Just in case if any of you ever go to conventions, here’s where I’ll be for sure!

  • Anime Detour: Bloomington, MN  April 19th-21st
  • Anime Central:  Rosemont, IL  May 17th-19th
  • Animinneapolis:  Bloomington, MN  June 28th-30th

Waiting to hear back from Geek.Kon in Wisconsin which is August, and Fallcon which is the local comic convention here that’s usually in October.  Predominately, the art table is for the crafts my partner and I make, but the bookmarks will be there too  :)  Generally I still in the Midwest because it’s easiest to drive to cons with all the stuff we sell since it’s coasters and plushies and woodburnings and clocks and things.  Any other Midwest cons you guys can think of?

Reblogging so more people see.  If you ever want to see me in real life (probably not lol!) here’s the conventions I’ll be at  :)  If you can think of anymore I should go to, please let me know.  Keep in mind I’d be trying to get a table, so it would have to be in a reasonable distance that could be driven to from the Midwest, since there’s no way we can get our stuff onto a plane.

It seems that I have a few followers who go to cons and things.  What cons are you all going to?  My crazy convention plans are as follows:

Anime Detour:  April

Anime Central:  May

Animinneapolis:  June

Anime Iowa:  July (pending on table acceptance)

Geek.Kon:  August (pending on table acceptance)

Fallcon: September or October, whenever it is this year (pending on table acceptance)

The first three cons we got tables for and are ready to go!  Anime Central I’ve gone to several times, but this is the first year with a table, so I’m super excited/PANICING LIKE CRAZY since the biggest con I’ve had a table at is Anime Detour, which is about 5000 people?  Anime Central is like… 5 times that amount?  Don’t have too many new cosplay plans, BUT, there are clothing plans.  My partner is making us video game themed dresses, and my Sukuna Hikona hoodie should be done by Detour  ^^  For funz and lulz I’ll probably touch up the Flo costume, and do Tiana and Belle (especially at Anime Central since I haven’t been there in years and I love those dresses)

If any of you lovely people are at these cons, please feel free to swing by my table and say hi!  It’ll be the one with clocks, and mini plushies, and mirrors, and hats, and ponies, and just random things.  By then, we hope to have nifty tablets and things, so we can post via the con  :)  Tell me that you know me from tumblr, I’d love to get to know all of you if I can.  Also, if you have any suggestions on cons to go to in the Midwest, let me know!  We’re always looking for new venues.  This is the most we’ve ever had planned.  We never imagined that we’d be doing this as an actual small business venture, going to several cons instead of the two we use to attend for fun, so this is great!

So, are you going to be at these conventions?  Or any conventions in the near future?

Anime Central 2013

My partner and I haven’t been to ACEN in years, and have never gone as artists – always attendants.  But next year, we get to go as artists!

I managed to get in in time to get us a table when it opened (which was like, a 15 minute window).  So if you’re planning on going to the biggest anime con in the Midwest next year, I’ll be there with a table yay!

Back from Anime Iowa

Had an amazing time.  Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our table (http://www.etsy.com/shop/snowtigra?ref=si_shop), it was great seeing everyone :) We’ll be updating the shop in the next couple of days with things that didn’t sell, so stay tuned for that!  Also, I’ll be posting things on here, like our costumes and new stuff I made while at the con hotel.

Again, thanks everyone from a great Anime Iowa, hope to see you next year or at other cons in the future!

Completely forgot

If you swing by the table, be sure to tell me that you’re on tumblr so I can be all like, “H-hi,” and, “Oh!”  I get kinda blushy in real life about things  ^^;;;  I managed to finish even more things yesterday, from ponies, to Persona 3 (yeah that’s right, 3, I still remember it exists in my 4 craze), to Kingdom Hearts, just… everything!  (well not EVERYTHING that would be impossible).

Time to finish up packing then we’re taking off.  Artist Alley opens up for sponsers at like, 3:30, and everyone else at 4 tomorrow, so see you then if you’re going!  If not, just expect a lot of pictures on my tumblr, including a (hopefully) signed copy of my Persona 4 from Souji/Yu/Adachi since he’ll be at the con!
