So I didn’t share this story yet but I will.  So, at Anime Detour this year, I made a Sebastian woodburning for the charity auction.  I asked the girl in charge of the auction if I could come by before the con for J. Michael Tatum (Sebastian’s V.A.) to sign it.  She asked guest relations and it was decided that, yes, that would be a good idea.

So I was sitting in the hotel lobby on Thursday night (there was a HUGE SNOWSTORM GOING ON BTW THAT WE DROVE THROUGH) and he walked through the door.  I kinda just sat there like, “Ahahahaha… not moving, no, just… no he’s… no,” because I get really stuttery stupid around guests I like.

So the guy in charge of guest relations walks over and tells him the situation.  Meanwhile, Greg Ayres walks over, and he recognizes me and my partner because he goes to every con in the universe (seriously I adore him) and because we spoke at the “It Gets Better” panel did a few years back.  Greg is like, “Hey ladies,” to me and my partner and we hug and stuff, and THAT’S when Detour’s guest relations guy brings J. Michael Tatum over.  I’m like, “OMG OMG OMG,” and Greg is like, “Hey these ladies are awesome,” right in front of J. Michael Tatum. 

So my brain is like, going into shock, and I kinda just hand him the woodburning to sign.  And he SPAZZES over it, like, “OMG YOU MADE THIS AMAZING!”  Then he posts a picture on twitter (which ironically we had a bunch of people wander over to our table on Friday lol).  Then he hugs me, and I’m like, “OMG HE’S HUGGING ME!”

So I let him pick a coaster he wants, just to have, and he picks the NO H8 Sebastian coaster I had made.  I’m like, “Yeah this topic means a lot to me I’ve been with my partner for 11 years.”  He’s like, “OMG AWESOME I’VE BEEN WITH MY BOYFRIEND FOR 12 YEARS!”  Then he signs my Black Butler boxset and we get a picture together.

BUT THE STORY ISN’T OVER!

So on Sunday we go to the “It Gets Better” panel and he’s on it.  So after the panel (in which I shared my story sort of and just… yeah) I go up to him to tell him how the woodburning did (went up to $115, it started at $50, so I call that a victory) and I get hugged again.  So I’m standing there like, “Uh… so… can I ask a favor?”  He’s like, “Yeah?”  And I’m like, “… can you do the Sebastian voice?”  And I feel really derpy, like, “Der I can’t stop smiling and blushing and can barely look him in the eye but I’M GONNA MAKE IT THROUGH THIS O.K.?!”

So then he leans in.  And whispers into my ear, “Is that an order,” in the Sebastian voice.

And… do you ever feel your face about to melt from how hot it’s getting?  Because that’s what happened to me.  And I kinda just like turned away like, “Lord have mercy on me,” and ducked into my partner’s arms like, “Oh god I’m going to die right now.”  Later, after we left the room, her and my friend were like, “What was that reaction about?”  Because they didn’t hear what he had said.

I told them what he said and they immediately understood.

So that’s my J. Michael Tatum Anime Detour story.

*loud screams of joy*  I FINISHED IT!  I FINISHED THE SET!  I finished it for Anime Detour and it got cleaned out.  I won’t have the whole set for Anime Central, but I will have some, and if you’re going to the con you can order some from me to have shipped to you  :)

MICHAEL TATUM IS THE NICEST AND SWEETEST AND CUTEST GUY EVER O.K.?!  And he whispered sweetly in my ear and hugged me a bunch at Detour and OMG HE’S THE BEST YEAH SO PRETTY SO SO PRETTY!

OMG I REMEMBER SEEING THESE GUYS!  The Pitch actually commissioned a bunch of plushies from us.  His eyebrows aren’t shaved, they’re taped!  He was wonderful with his Jack Frost  :)  So tall, and he even sounded like a great Pitch, too.  

And hello Hades, you did an amazing job too  :)

So the next convention for us is Anime Central, and man, we have a LOT of stuff to get made beforehand.  I didn’t expect to sell so much stuff at Anime Detour.  I started with 101 coasters and am down to 29.  I started with 9 clocks and am down to 3.  The tarot set did AMAZINGLY WELL, with 5 coasters left out of 26.  I will most likely be remaking those and maybe making some repeats.  The Magician got asked about the most  ^^.  I also have 13 commissions to finish.  Guess it’s time not to have a social life for about a month, which is fine, because I also have to finish editing the book.   Also have to run out and get more supplies this weekend since I’m running low on things.

So here’s some sets I’m thinking of doing for sure:

1.  Sailor Moon (since ALL of them sold)

2.  Adventure Time (particularly want to do the gender swap set)

3.  Persona Tarot (no matter how much I’m going to swear at it)

4.  Nostalgia stuff (like Cartoon Network, probably old school Nickelodeon too, just cuz it’s fun seeing people’s reactions to it)

5.  Persona eye sets (because I only have three left)

6.  Young Justice/comic heroes/super heroes in general

I’m still thinking of other series to do, and I’d love suggestions as well  :) I also need to do more large woodburnings since Faye sold right away and Sebastian went up pretty high in the Charity Auction.  I still wonder who got it, though, I wish I could thank them  ^^

Is this how it feels to have a small business?

I’m just now learning about it, but I have recently made a clock about it that sold at Anime Detour  :)  Someone bought it, but they took a picture  ^^  I can always make more things from the series  :)

SQUEEEEEEE My secret Anime Detour cosplay is done.  Check out that Green Hill Zone on the side.  My babe is the bestest wifey ever  :)  She designed and made the dress herself  ^^  I’ll probably be wearing this on Saturday, but it’s so cute I kinda want to wear it all weekend, lol!

Hello everyone!  Sorry I haven’t been doing much writing lately.  Anime Detour is only 2 weeks away so its crunch time on getting things done for my table.  I thought I’d share some pics of what I’ve been up to.

1.  Shin Megami Tensei tarot card coaster set!  There’s only 8 more left to woodburn, but the picture shows that I, indeed, have every single card that shows up in Persona 3 and Persona 4 :)

2.  Sebastian Michaelish woodburning.  For Anime Detour’s charity auction to hopefully be signed by the voice actor and put up for bid.  His eyes are painted red because he’s “one hell of a…” yeah you know the saying.

3.  Eva unit 01 woodburning.  For sale at my table along with a whole bunch of other things.

4.  Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop.  For sale at my table along with a whole bunch of other things.

Also at the table I’ll have business cards for my book, “Treat Me Kindly,” since they came in a week earlier than expected  :)  I’ll be spending this weekend writing, since I have a short story to look over and edit by Monday.  Whee, busy busy busy!
