OMG! Last woodburning done before the weekend! Cowboy Bebop, man, where do I begin? Despite how many times Cartoon Network has played this (are they still playing it?) I still have so much love for this series. I thought a cool, silhouette of Faye Valentine would be great for a last big woodburning for Anime Detour. If I magically have time left in the next two weeks I might do another big burning, but I doubt that I will, so Faye is the last one for this con :)
Picture one: All finished! White smoke and all!
Picture two: Beginning sketch
Picture three: Woodburned, minus white smoke.
See you in space, cowboy! Or rather, see you at Anime Detour ^^
*exhausted breath* O.K. This is the last progress picture, the next picture will have ALL OF THEM WOODBURNED! But this is ALL of the tarot cards in the arcana for Persona 3 and Persona 4. This includes the extras, like Adachi for example and the face on the back of the cards. There are only 8 more left to burn *happy dance*
This whole set will be at Anime Detour in a couple of weeks :)
Hey guys! Remember this crazy project? It’s almost done! I’m sketching the very last tarot card right now! I hope to have the entire set done by the end of the week :) This set includes the arcana in Arena, in just… well, everything Persona 3 and Persona 4 ^^
I’m debating on whether or not I should have one last card with the image that’s on the back of the cards. This one right here.
The entire set will be at Anime Detour in a few weeks. I think, maaaaybe, whatever sells I want to try and remake for Anime Central. I might change my mind since this entire project has been insane ^^;; The coasters can be purchased individually since I don’t expect anyone to be crazy enough to buy all of them.
Thoughts on having the face as a card to go with it? Thoughts on the project as a whole?
This is how I spent part of my weekend! Anime Detour has a charity auction every year and I try to come up with something to put in it. This year is the first year I thought ahead of time ^^;;; J. Michael Tatum will be at the convention and I thought, “What if I woodburned a big picture of Sebastian? And he signed it?” I’ve been emailing the people in charge of the auction and they like the idea!
The burning is done (yay!) and now all that’s left is to have him sign it. The plan is for it to be signed the night before the convention, so it’ll be autographed when its put in the auction on Friday :)
Along with the finished picture is some progress pictures. This was something I started to do on Saturday and finished about half an hour ago ^^
Picture one: All finished, red eyes and all!
Picture two: The start of the project. The picture is sketched onto the wood in pencil, very lightly, in case I had to erase anything.
Picture three: Penciled in the parts that will be woodburned.
Picture four: Started to woodburn, took a picture to show the difference between the woodburn and pencil :)
Picture five: All the burning is done!
This was fun to do and I’m kind of surprised it didn’t take as long as I thought. My poor little woodburning probably hates me, though ^^;;; If you’re going to Anime Detour, be sure to check this out in the auction!
As always, feel free to check out my Etsy store or my DeviantArt :) I haven’t done too many large woodburnings, so I hope this turned out o.k.?
Anime Detour work station! This is what my living room looks like right now. Look at all of those woodburned and painted coasters. I have at least 72 ready, but these are the ones done this week. So yes, on top of getting the book published is epic crafting for my art table ^^;;;
If you’re going to Anime Detour, check out “Sewn Together Reflections.”
Pffffft what the what Anime Detour?
They had an essay contest where they wanted people to talk about what Detour means to them, since this is their tenth year. I thought, “Oh hey let me write a thing, because I really love Detour,” I’ve been going since year one and all.
So I wrote a thing.
And then I won a thing.
Yeah my essay won Anime Detour’s contest.
Excuse me because I can’t quite comprehend how this writing thing suddenly continues to go well like I mean-
It’s going to be in the program books and maybe on the website, which I’m taking as exposure if I can get my writing blog mentioned on it. Perfect exposure to 5500 attendees, staff, guess, perfect exposure since, you know, need to get myself out there because of this whole book thing.
Hey there, karma, how are you? I guess since last year was such a mess of things you’ve decided to make this year better?
Convention schedule
brichibiwritesthings:
Hello, dear followers. Wow there’s more of you yay, welcome! Hi! Headcanons will probably be on a short hiatus so I can finish editing “Treat Me Kindly” to the publisher’s standards. Shouldn’t take too much longer, I think?
So I’ve been thinking about making bookmarks for the conventions I go to, to pass out and advertise my writing, upcoming book, blog, and such. Just in case if any of you ever go to conventions, here’s where I’ll be for sure!
- Anime Detour: Bloomington, MN April 19th-21st
- Anime Central: Rosemont, IL May 17th-19th
- Animinneapolis: Bloomington, MN June 28th-30th
Waiting to hear back from Geek.Kon in Wisconsin which is August, and Fallcon which is the local comic convention here that’s usually in October. Predominately, the art table is for the crafts my partner and I make, but the bookmarks will be there too :) Generally I still in the Midwest because it’s easiest to drive to cons with all the stuff we sell since it’s coasters and plushies and woodburnings and clocks and things. Any other Midwest cons you guys can think of?
Reblogging so more people see. If you ever want to see me in real life (probably not lol!) here’s the conventions I’ll be at :) If you can think of anymore I should go to, please let me know. Keep in mind I’d be trying to get a table, so it would have to be in a reasonable distance that could be driven to from the Midwest, since there’s no way we can get our stuff onto a plane.
