Five Nights at Youmacon (and Slender?)

Here’s a collection of pictures I got in my Freddy cosplay and some awesome cosplayers I ran into.  Also special shout out to Timothy Lim, who created the image we have on our pizza box and let us use it <3

The times I met my doubles at Youmacon <3

Friday was Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Saturday was Princess and the Frog.

Sunday was Wonder Woman.

I know the Freddy with me is Brad Duct-Tape Hale, but I’m not sure who the other two are.  If you know them, please let me know so I can tag them, they were all so great!

I think plus size women (and men) need to see positive, beautiful representation of people who are their size.  I also think they need to see plus size people being happy with who they are.  The stereotype of the unhappy, fat loaf who sits on the couch being lazy is such a lie, and it kills me that that’s what some people expect when they think of a chubby person.  I hate that it’s such a surprise to some people to see a plus size person wearing nice clothes and looking good, so I’m really glad to see positive representation out there.

Honestly, I think it’s just a great thing for everyone to see, not just plus size individuals.  Society has such a skewed view on beauty.  It’s always changing and the things we see aren’t always truthful (Photoshop, etc.)  I get support from all sorts of people, not just plus size.  There are plenty of people who are smaller than me who feel encouraged to love themselves when they see me.  I feel like body positivity is something that’s beneficial to everyone.  I feel like everyone has their insecurities, so seeing people embrace who they are is such a huge confidence booster.

My interview with The Curvy Fashionista went up today and I haven’t stopped smiling since :)

Yay!  Thanks for posting me  <3 <3 <3

Sometimes you kiss a frog and he turns into an abridged series creator…? Seriously though, martininamerica is one of the nicest, sweetest people you’ll ever meet at a con, so you should definitely take time out to go see him.  He’s such a great person and I’m really happy to be able to call him a friend  :)

As we draw to the end of Costoberfest 2014, please enjoy one more Costoberfest Spotlight!

We like to introduce you to Jay Justice, a New York City native, who has been cosplaying since 2009. In the last five years, Jay has created a large collection of costumes, including those pictured above!

Self taught, Jay sews and constructs all of her own costumes, including collapsible wings for her Falcon costume! A comic fan since she was a child, Jay’s favorite character is “Monica Rambeau, formerly known as Captain Marvel, Pulsar, Photon, Daystar etc and currently going by Spectrum. She’s awesome.”

When we asked her what she geeks out for she replied with, “I geek out for well written stories with a diverse range of characters and thought provoking plots. Throw in a fantasy or sci fi element and I’m in heaven.”

For even more cosplay by Jay Justice, make sure to check out her Facebook Page!

Thank you so much for featuring me and my costumes! Make Mine Marvel! <3

Lord I love me some Jay!

Youmacon is coming up and the wifey and I are super excited!  We’ve never been to the con before but have been wanting to go for years, so we’re thrilled to be able to sell there in artist alley.  Here’s some of the new things we’ll have, from the woodwork I do to the adorable stuffed babies she makes that we’re calling Hug Me Heroes.  We’ll also be cosplaying, as always  <3

We hope to see you at Youma!
