Hello all, so this is my dad, and he’s planning on cosplaying as Rescue Captain America at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Here’s the problem: He’s 53 and he thinks he might be too old to cosplay. In addition, he thinks he’s not buff/handsome enough to pull it off a Captain America costume. So even though he’s put a ton of work into his cosplay, he’s thinking about not taking any of it with us.

I’ve set out to prove him wrong, so tumblr, please help me show this retired Air Force officer that he makes a great Captain America!

DO IT! Cosplay isnt limited to anyone. Do what you love and share it with people. Cosplay if for fun!

“Pardon me?”

“The kiss.  It doesn’t have to count.”

Naoto looks at the girl sitting across from her.  All sweet smiles and pigtails, Rise “Risette” Kujikawa is the picture perfect image of “girl.”  She wears the uniform better than Naoto ever could, but is courteous enough not to point that out.

“What do you mean it does not have to count?”

Rise keeps the smile in place, answering the question with practiced ease, “The kiss, silly.  It doesn’t have to count.  Your first kiss should be special, so this one doesn’t have to count.”

“If it does not have to count, what was the point in doing it?”  The logical frown is firm on her face.

“I just… I wanted to, you know?  Sometimes girls just want to.”  It’s not at all an honest answer, but she hopes it’ll suffice so she doesn’t have to go into the truth — ironic, she knows, since they’ve both had harsh lessons on the importance of truth.

“No, I do not know.  People do things for a reason.”

“Well I had no reason.  I just wanted to kiss you.  But it doesn’t have to count, I know who you want it to count with.”  Even if Naoto isn’t willing to say the name out loud, Rise knows who her first should belong to.

Naoto tries to keep the blushing at a minimum, but her cheeks don’t listen, “R-regardless, you should not assume that this kiss was meaningless.”

“Naoto-kun, I told you-“

“I mean it.  This kiss… this was a good first kiss.”

She tries not to look too hopeful, but her voice is high and excited when she speaks, “Really?  Well then, can we try for a second first kiss?”

The blush is worse the second time around, but it still makes for a good second first kiss.

So the lovely ladies Sarah Fong and Kris Lee did some fantastic Naoto and Rise cosplay pictures.  I haven’t written any fandom related things in a long time, but this pic inspired me.  Keep up the great work, ladies!

Kanji Tatsumi is finished! Okay, almost. I think I want to add some rivets to the jean pockets, but that’s about it.

Congrats to Jovan for building his first cosplay garment; those jeans look fabulous. He also got the wig to stay on his head. He is an innovative lifesaver and looks amazing to boot!

Guh those suspenders. Headcanon of Kanji pulling those suspenders to pull Naoto in for a kiss is now a thing.

… and we are totally doing a picture of that once Kanji is complete! Thanks for the great idea, your headcanon shall become reality. :)

Ariel was inspired to wear them because of this concept art. We never see her without the coat, after all, and it just seemed like a very Naoto thing to do.*

*Not to mention, braces are a reliable method of trouser suspension when a belt cannot be worn, as we’ve learned with my Kurama, Sebastian, and Yusuke cosplays. I highly recommend them if your character doesn’t have a visible belt and especially so if you’re going to carry a phone/keys/etc. in your trouser pockets. We got ours (Dockers brand) for about $16 before tax at Sears and J.C. Penney.

OMG I forgot about that picture in the artbook and I own the artbook, lol. I cannot WAIT TO SEE THIS HEADCANON COME TRUE!  You’re an awesome person, cosplayer I just met on tumblr.

btw… did you see Kurama, Sebastian, and Yusuke?  Did you like… decide to raid my brain for my favorite fandoms and do cosplays of them?
