Pretty much every headcanon Cecil Baldwin I’ve seen has been a tall, skinny white guy. Personally, I first imagined him being more of a mild-mannered Three Dog.
I approve of this Cecil. I approve of all the Cecils.
atelierMUSE is now officially live! You can see our main website here, and you can also use all the social media links in the sidebar to follow us however you prefer!
We’re looking forward to keeping you guys updated on all of our projects, commissions, and future publications!
The official launch of my freelance site with Simon, : ) Please spread the word, follow, like, etc etc~
Our biggest goal at the moment is to get our fan-works community project, MUSEbasement, up and running again. We take in artists who want to learn how to make comics, and through a series of workshops on sequential art we then release a doujinshi.
We have already done one for Gravitation and another for Weiss Kreuz. (Simon and I independently made the Persona 4 Kannao one.) Our next community project is for Samurai Champloo, :3
Following you on Tumblr and Facebook :) Congratulations on the store! I wish you so much success you have no idea! Everyone, follow this store!
*incoherent noises* How sexy are these guys? I commissioned the lovely ladies of Grave Impressions to do art of Lukis and Aaron, the men of my short story, “Press START to Play.” I wanted to have art that really related to the story so I could have post cards for it at conventions and stuff. I’m planning on doing the same thing for my book, the details are getting worked out right now.
I got a sketch preview today and it’s coming together nicely! Have you read the story yet? You can find it on Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online outlets. I can’t wait to see the finished product! Here are links to the story:
*explodes into happiness*
OMG! You guys! The girls of Grave Impressions (check out their webcomic btw it’s great) did some lovely watercolor art of Haven and Cyn! Haven and Cyn are one of our favorite couples in the Hunters series, and these girls did wonderful fanart of them.
A bit of background: Haven is use to being on the run, moving from place to place as he runs away from something he doesn’t quite understand. Meanwhile, Cyn is a pretty moody, gothic girl with a big attitude, but she uses it to hide the secrets of her dark past. I’m so happy with this picture, it’s all watercolor and gorgeous! They’re going to ship it to us, and we hope to use it to promote the book at conventions :)
Gorgeous fanart is gorgeous *__* Will most definitely be working with these wonderful artists again!
Huzzah for our first original fanart from our book *__* Thank you so much to the ladies of Grave Impressions. I want to have a lovely table at a con with all of the wonderful arts that people do for us.
Back when I was to college, I was part of a Gundam Wing yaoi mailing list for Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell (1x2x1 ML forever!) On that mailing list was a girl who called herself snowtigra. We started chatting over IRC (yeah this is how long ago this was) and ended up doing a fic together that was a terrible Resident Evil/Gundam Wing crossover that’s still on the internet somewhere, I’m sure.
Anyhow, long story short, we’re still together after 11 years somehow.
One day, while chatting over IRC, we started roleplaying with anime characters. They came from all sorts of series, from Gundam Wing, to Yu Yu Hakusho, and we just… kept doing it. We started calling it “dating.” She lived in Minnesota and I was in Iowa for school, so we were long distance, but every night we’d get online and “date.” This involved coming up with random plots for these characters, and as we got into more anime series and video games, more characters would show up. Like, “Hey, Gaara is really cool, we should put him somewhere,” or, “I’m really obsessed with Kanji and Naoto right now,” or, “Sebastian and Ciel, please.”
When I moved up to Minnesota, we got an apartment together. One day, after she picked me up from work, we found out that our apartment had been broken into. This included our laptops, which had the file on it we used to roleplay. So, we had to start all over again.
That’s when things changed.
Suddenly characters were changing. For example, we would think, “This would be awesome if it were a female lead,” and so boy characters changed to girl characters. Then we came up with the concept of “The Storyteller,” a creature who lives in a library full of books, each book depicting someone’s life. At some point we realized, you know, these Naruto characters aren’t really the same anymore. We sort of… created our own characters. Like we were still using the name “Haku” but it wasn’t really the same person.
Then, about two years ago, she randomly wrote up a teaser chapter. The characters were renamed, no more Ky Kiske or Gaara, no more heartless or Netherworld, because those things weren’t those things anymore. Then I added a bit to it. Then we sat down and made an outline. The outline ended up creating seven book ideas. She wrote the first one for NaNoWriMo two years ago, then I read over it and added things/took things out and jazzed it up.
We realized, “Fuck… we have a story here.” So she sent it to publishers.
Now we’re signing a contract with Alpha Wolf Publishing.
And thus became the dorkiest love story ever told. The Hunters series started with us being in a long distance relationship where we would roleplay every night to talk to one another.
To all of you roleplayers, fanfic writers, fan artists, and all that’s in between, here is my message to you. Keep doing what you do. Because you never know what it will turn into. This is what it did for me.
Oh, and “Treat Me Kindly,” the book I’ve written on my own? Use to be a Naruto fic that I never finished. After dissecting the fic I kept the first sentence, one of the original characters I created, and two of the animals.
Reblogging because not all of you follow my writing blog, but I wanted to share :)
tl;dr I went to an aquarium with my sister and cousin today and I realized that kanji probably hasn’t seen penguins in his life.
Cue this illustration rough of Naoto taking Kanji to an aquarium and showing him pretty penguins (how do you draw them anywayyyyy)
Kudos to Brichibi for helping me decide on some stuffs yep. Such as drawing them in their post p4g appearance and naoto’s general reaction to kanji uvu
*fangirl squee!!!* Look at how cute my babies are! The idea behind this is that Kanji obsesses over that penguin animal cracker, but he’s probably never actually SEEN a penguin in real life since he’s never left Inaba (and as far as we can tell there’s no aquarium or places like that). So, Naoto takes him to see penguins :)
PLEASE WHOEVER READS THIS SIGNAL BOOST THIS!!!
This tumblr user will not listen to us about how important it is to source people’s artwork!! I’ve already reported this person with this message:
Someone with the URL “mutilatedman” has made countless posts degrading artists on the internet who want their art to be sourced back to where it was originally uploaded. Regardless of it being fanwork, there has been a huge dilemma with pixiv users who either have their art work stolen, edited, and posted on countless sites without their permission. Sourcing the original content is important when posting art from pixiv, if not, many of these artists will feel discouraged to continue uploading their work onto their site. As a matter in fact, countless of them have either set the work on private or deleted their accounts due to the lack of attention they are actually receiving. Tumblr user mutilatedman’s behavior upon this situation is unacceptable and could even get in a lot of trouble over this. These are the links and screenshots for evidence.

and then
http://mutilatedman.tumblr.com/post/44097395955/what-did-i-say-earlier-about-fan-artists-being
Please do something about this immediately, we the artists and art appreciators are very concerned with people like this; It is certainly most intolerable.
If it’s not too much to ask, I want as many of you as possible to to let the staff know about this!!! Unsourced artwork has been a huge problem for a while but I’ve never seen someone this absolutely disgusting who would treat other artists this way! If they won’t learn their lesson, then it’s time to actually do something about this!
I know I have some followers who read my headcanons and stuff for Persona 4, reblogging because this nonsense was on the P4 tag, as this user was taking Souji/Kanji pictures and not sourcing them. Please spread the word! This is not cool! The amount of time it took this person to screencap the art is MUCH LONGER than it would’ve taken to simply source where it came from. Artists need credit for what they do, and its discouraging if people can’t even recognize that. And the fact that this user BRAGS about the fact that they AREN’T GOING TO SOURCE is just gross.
I thought it was a really cool picture! It fits Naoto’s shadow so well! The rocket gun and the wings, I thought it was a really cool piece, and I can see a younger Naoto thinking, “I wanna be a spaceman!” You know, little girls want to be princesses, Naoto would be different :) ”Spaceman” would be that kid dream, I think, before detective. She’d run around her bedroom making rocket ship noises, kinda like Andy from Toy Story!
And for those who are wondering: this is the fanart ^^
I think it’s really awesome :) And I’m glad me liking it means something to you ^^
