I hate memes like this…

fedupblackwoman:

Every time I come across the few images of fat black girls in love, it’s a meme mocking them and bashing them. Can black women live for once? I mean seriously.

I guess black love or love period is only beautiful if the couple is “conventional”.

Things I hate:

1. The assumption that someone is doing a fat girl a favor by loving her because, surely, she’s so down on herself that she’s in desperate need of compliments and will cling to a person who dares to say she’s beautiful.

2. The assumption that someone is with a fat girl for some other reason other than love. Clearly, the sex is good, or maybe the food (har har, get it, cuz she’s FAT), or she has a lot of money. It cannot possibly be because, gasp, there’s an actual chemistry between the two.

3. The assumption that a fat girl smile equals glorifying obesity, surely she can’t be smiling because she’s happy with her life as it is. I mean look at that picture. That kiss on the cheek. That content look on his face. Surely she can’t be smiling because of happiness, she’s smiling to spread the fat agenda.

I suppose I will give this meme some credit with its dumb “gotta be her pussy” comment because at least it’s not doing the “fat girls are too fat to have sex/they’ll crush their partners” bullshit.

This woman sticking up for her fat-shamed boyfriend is the ultimate example of #relationshipgoals

With all the misogynistic body-shamers targeting women these days, it’s easy to forget men are victims too. Ashley Stevens and her boyfriend Christopher Glenn Reed were reminded of this fact when a picture of them ended up on Reddit. Response to the photo quickly turned ugly, with more than 2,600 commenters mocking Reed’s weight and appearance. But Stevens got the last laugh with an epic response for all the trolls.

aren't you concerned for your health being the weight that you are?

Time to Preach the Gospel Truth

Fat is just a size, that’s it. It doesn’t mean you’re lazy. It doesn’t mean you’re ugly. It’s just a size. You can be happy. You can think your hair is cute. You can like that shirt you’re wearing. You can cosplay. You can write. You can be artistic. You can be anything, ANYTHING you want to be. Don’t let these unnamed people ever, EVER convince you otherwise.

We need to stop thinking so lowly of ourselves because of appearance. We need to stop listening to what society is trying to tell us, because society doesn’t know what the fuck it wants. “Too fat.” “Too thin.” “Too everything.” If you keep trying to go by society’s standards you’ll be left with too little, too late.

So I don’t think I’ve posted about this on my Tumblr yet, but a few weeks ago I was told that my cosplay presentation idea for the “Body Love Conference” made it through round one! Round two was to make a video that pretty much goes into what your...

So I don’t think I’ve posted about this on my Tumblr yet, but a few weeks ago I was told that my cosplay presentation idea for the “Body Love Conference” made it through round one!  Round two was to make a video that pretty much goes into what your presentation is, why its important, and things like that.  If the video makes it through, then I get to go to the conference :)

I decided that on top of telling, I would show why it would be important. So my partner and I made this shirt, which is just a handful of comments I’ve gotten this year alone about my cosplay.  This isn’t everything, because everything wouldn’t fit on the front of the shirt.  How sad is that? Cosplay is supposed to be fun, right?  We’re dressing up as fictional characters, who are these people who have time to say such harsh things to someone they don’t even know?

But I’m not the only one this happens to.  I’m sure everyone has a story where someone said something out of line to them, whether they were cosplaying or not.  And, oddly enough, that creates an understanding, a bond, between us.  And through the negativity it shows why positivity is so important.  It shows why your happiness and your opinion of yourself is what matters.  You can’t go off of someone else’s blind judgment.  You can’t let these words keep you down, I say “keep” because, honestly, they will hurt and I will never deny that part, because it’s important to be honest with your feelings.  Being called these names does hurt and they will make you pause in your steps.  They made me pause, but they didn’t make me completely stop.  They never will.  Why should they?

I know the truth about myself.  I’m a writer.  I’m a cosplayer.  I’m an artist. I have a loving partner, great friends and family.  Why is one “fat slob” comment going to stop me from living the life I want to live?

It’s not, and it shouldn’t stop you, either.

Your clothes are cute. But would be so much cuter on a size 4. :( I wish you would stop perpetuating the delusion that you look as cute as a thin girl in a crop top. You can't possibly believe that.

I think you don’t understand that I don’t put myself into direct competition with other women? I’m honestly sorry that you’re not that self aware yet.

Also thanks for sending this on my birthday, dude.

I think you don’t understand that I don’t put myself into direct competition with other women.

Yes, just, I mean…. that, all of that.  We don’t all look at each other and think, “Damn wish that were me,” just… that’s not a thing that happens and people need to stop assuming that we do?

Happy birthday, sweetie, you’re fabulous <3

tv: all fat people are clumsy, eat all the time and have poor self control. sometimes they are funny, but they never have a lot of friends and nobody could ever be attracted to them in any way. All beautiful people are thin.
magazines: celebrities share their weight loss tips! here's how to get a beach body! why has this celebrity let themself go so much and gained weight?
society : thin people are beautiful! Thin equals fit and healthy! Fat people are lazy, sloppy, gluttonous, and disgusting! They should take better care of themselves, they're a burden to society!
thin people: well we're just concerned for your health!
1 song: fuck those skinny bitches
thin people: UMMM EXCUSE ME THAT'S THIN SHAMING!!! WE DESERVE BODY POSITIVITY TOO!

My (Brichibi's) Words: See, at the end of the day, body shaming is wrong, period, but there is a difference between fat shaming and skinny shaming. Skinny shaming does exist, of course it does, but fat shaming is so prevalent in our society that it's not even considered "shaming," it's considered a norm. It's normal to portray fat people in a negative light and normal to assume that they're lazy, good for nothing, ugly, unloved creatures who can only find happiness by being thin. As a fat person, being thin is a goal to achieve, it's what you should be trying to do with your life. No matter what you've achieved, it means nothing if you're not trying to be thin, which is ironic considering the judgement fat people get when they do try to lose weight (being told how to lose weight, that they're not losing it fast enough, that no one wants to see that at the gym or jogging outside, ect.) As a fat person, its assumed that you just don't give a shit about yourself, because you're not thin. As a fat person, it's assumed that you can't do anything until you are thin. Once you're thin, you can achieve anything, even basic things like getting off the couch, wearing cute clothes, and going outside (example: weight loss commercials where someone is fat and incapable of being active with their children, wearing something other than baggy clothes, or getting their hair done until they discover Slim Fast/Jenny Craig/Magical Pill X).
This is why terms like "skinny bitches" exist. Because you can only be told that thin is the way to be for so long before you get fed up and say "fuck you." It's more so a declaration against society's ideals of what beautiful is, because society can't even decide what that is, because now there's a such thing as "too thin" and there's a such thing as "photoshop" where even thin people are shopped to be thinner. Even so, there's a difference between "too thin" and "fat," because fat is never seen as something to aspire to be, its seen as a disease, as something to get rid of, as something that holds you back from accomplishing anything even if you accomplish everything. I have a college degree and am a published author but you bet your ass that people are more concerned about what I'm eating versus the things I've achieved in my life.

Don’t let the negatives take over, don’t let them weigh you down and dictate who you are.  Don’t let them cover up the things that make you, you.

Reblogging because it’s totally relevant for today.  Today we can add the following to that list above: Cow, Hippo, Wonder What to Eat Woman, Wonder Bread Woman, Wonder Blob, Wonder Water Buffalo, Blunder Woman, Fat Slob, Wonder Whale, Wonder Why Woman.  All in one day. This is not including questions like, “I wonder how she got in that costume.”

The message at the bottom is still the same: Don’t let someone else’s hang-ups cover who you really are.  People don’t like a fat, black Wonder Woman?  The amount of fucks I give about that is the fattest form of zero.

Man that anon is a piece of shit with a hideous personality. Fuck fat hate, I know you're proud of your body and of who you are so don't let insecure people pull you down.

Though anon is switching from food to animals, and tied it into food because grazing on salad, so that was kinda creative?  I’ve never been compared to an animal who eats a lot except for the times when I’ve been compared to an animal who eats a lot, so… nevermind.

Soon they’ll be out of ideas, all that’s left is laziness and comparing me to a fat celebrity, then all the ideas are gone, though technically they’re gone anyway because I’ve heard it all before, they’re just being recycled, Captain Planet would be proud.

I figured it out.  There are 4 insults:

1.  Large animals

2.  Laziness

3.  Food

4.  Fat Celebrity

I suppose there’s always dying, but that usually goes back into the food insult.
