The Inner Workings of a Chibi.

The most fun I have when going out in public is having some sort of geeky thing on.  Today I was wearing my Yoshi earrings and went to pay some more money down on the couch my babe and I are getting.  The guy ringing me up stopped and was like, “… are those Yoshi earrings?”

I smiled and was like, “Yep.”

So he gets his coworker and we all proceed to talk about the 3DS, Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, and just Nintendo in general.

It’s great when geekery leaks into the real world  ^^

My phone takes terrible pictures, I’ll try and take better pictures once the room is completely clean (it’s still not completely clean, I rearranged a bunch of stuff).  Anyhow, the first picture is my fighting game collection, and um… that’s not all of it. I couldn’t fit the Mortal Kombat stuff because the fight stick is too big, I’ll try and get a picture of that later  ^^;;;  Two of the Street Fighter things are signed, including the VHS tape (which I completely forgot about, but I got it signed by Akuma’s VA yeeeears ago!)  I have way more figures than that, they’re just in the hutch in the living room, I just grabbed a couple.  There’s also the Street Fighter 25th anniversary box which was like, one of the best purchases I made last year.  I mean… the American Street Fighter cartoon is in it!

The bottom row is full of Tekkens and Guilty Gears and BlazBlues and Soul Caliburs.

The second picture is all Shin Megami Tensei.  Yeah there’s two Catherine boxes, two Raidou Jacks (one still sealed with the game), my Golden is still sealed because I STILL don’t have a Vita, um… I have two copies of Digital Devil Saga 2, and just… P3, P3 FES, the P3 and P4 guide, figures, and just…

… help I have problems I mean…

This does NOT include the artbooks, since there was no room for them.  Oh!  And my Kanji and Naoto cake topper is there too  ^^;;;

The third picture is Jiraiya, because I swear I spent like ten minutes just posing him and giggling.  I decided to have him doing a handstand on top of a P4 mug, lol!  P4 game and artbook that was given out with preorder because they’re signed by Yu/Souji/Adachi (I’m amused that he signed it as Adachi on the game cover, by Yu’s,Souji’s face, like, “You know who the real star of the game is right?”)

Anyhow, that’s the progress so far.  I want to take better pictures of the whole room when it’s done, which… won’t be for a while  ^^;;;

So I was reorganizing the Geek Room (which is like the longest project ever) and decided to better organize my “shrines,” “shrines” meaning “SMT things, fighting games, Clamp,” and other geeky things.  While I was doing this and putting figures together I realized, “Le gasp!  I have a figure of Minato from P3!”  Ahahahaha… somehow I forgot?

I also discovered how fun it is to pose Jiraiya (Yosuke’s persona) because, dear lord, he’s flexible.  I need to post crappy cell phone pictures at some point, but he’s got like a zillion different poses.  I wonder if Yosuke is that flexible I mean I guess Souji would know from experience right?

Also when the heck did I get so many Chun-Li figures I mean… not that I MIND, just CURIOUS!  Also when the heck did I get ALL of Kizuna, like, all volumes, even the old releases fro BeBeautiful?  And the dvds.  When did I get so much Guilty Gear?  So much yaoi?  So many duplicate copies of games so I could have a sealed copy?  And Yoshis!  So many Yoshis!  And Black Butler, and Flame of Recca, Fruits Basket, Naruto, Death Note, just… so much, just… so much.

… actually there’s some empty shelves so clearly not enough?

… when did I get all of Teen Titans?  What’s Tiny Toons doing here?  Look at all the Batman stuffs?  So much Mortal Kombat, even the second movie… on VHS and bluray, what?!

Something else we want to try to do at our shop is hoodies.  Of course, being the Shin Megami Tensei fangirl that I am, I had to sketch out some ideas from Persona :) The first is a Black Frost hoodie (that can easily be turned into the other jacks) and the second is a hoodie based on Yosuke’s persona, Jiraiya.  I mostly wanted to try sketching a Jiraiya hoodie because the colors are fun ^^

Again, we’re aiming for having some of these done for Anime Milwaukee next year.  There will, at least, be a hoodie done by Christmas of Sukuna Hikona, since that’s my partner’s Christmas gift to me :)

New shop idea!  Video game themed dresses, skirts, and other things of that nature.  I really like how the skirt turned out, and skirts/dresses like this is something we want to do.  Open skirts that reveal some sort of game level, and things of that nature  :)

We hope to premiere some of this at Anime Milwaukee next year!

The first dress is Tetris inspired, the second shirt and skirt is Mario inspired.  For the Tetris dress, the ruffles are covered in Tetris blocks along with a matching belt.  For the shirt and skirt, the shirt has piranha plant trim with a matching belt on the skirt.  The skirt itself is green like a pipe, and it opens up to show the level that the pipe tends to take you to  :)

I thought of making the wings zip together into the hood, but with the little butterfly part the pieces didn’t really match, so it’s fine.

Guys.  Guys.  GUYS!  Look at what I’m getting made for me for Christmas.  LOOK AT WHAT MY BEAUTIFUL PERFECT PARTNER IS MAKING ME!!!

How much is that Jack Frost in the window?  In the Geek Room rests this little guy, one of my favorite persona in the entire franchise (he’s so cute!)  This corner of the window has him hand drawn by my lovely partner then painted by me.

We’re thinking about drawing and painting Shadow Teddie above the window, at some point.  I swear these walls are going to be covered with so many things ^^;;;

And yes, those are little P4 keychains in the one picture.  The wooden circles?  Sketches by my good friend of Kanji and Naoto (hard to see in the picture since I was trying to get a close up of Jack Frost)

I think I posted these a long, long time ago, but back then it wasn’t as full as it is now.  But someone asked for pictures, and ye shall receive.  Sorry for kinda poor quality since I used my phone.  A few fun facts:

1.  Everything is hand painted by my partner and I.  We painted the walls yellow, the ceiling black, then proceeded to draw on the walls and paint.  I did the Pac-Man stuff and the details on the portal, along with the Star Fox ship and Katamari going towards the Earth.  She did the tetris pieces, the Jack Frost, and the Sonic level inside the closet.  I did the Konami code as well.

2.  This is a combination of both of our collections and signs and things we’ve found and purchased together – including the sweet display stand that spins, thanks Borders for that.  This also includes nifty things from my dad that he gave me.  This includes a Magnovox Odyssey, a lot of the old school comic book figures, and the Marvel jacket hanging by the Gargoyles figures that he hand painted himself (see where I get the art from)

3.  This room is NOT complete yet.  We still have plans to paint a moon on a ceiling with the blue portal, a Mega-man level above one the other window to go with the 8-bit Mega-man art we have.  Eventually, we’re going to get shelves to put on the walls so it’s a bit more organized.

4.  This does NOT have all of our things in it.  There’s still a few things in boxes, and recently purchased things to put in there (like the P4 artbook I just bought, ect.)  There’s also more things in the living room, but I haven’t taken pictures of it.  That’s where a lot of our comic book figures or nicer anime figures are, like the Ame-Comi ones, or nice Final Fantasy ones, Ghostbusters stuff, and things like that.  We have plans to move them into the Geek Room once we get better shelves.

5.  I am, indeed, that collector nerd that will sometimes buy two copies of a game to keep one sealed.  Hence me actually having 2 Raidou Jack Frosts, one is still in the box with the game, sealed.  Also, hence me having two copies of like, Mario All-stars, and things like that.

6.  The standees come from my old job.  The Zelda one?  I completely lied my ass off about.  A customer was asking what we were doing with it when we were finished and I said that another customer had already claimed it.  Yeah… ^^

7.  Yes, that is He-man toys, and Gargoyles, thanks to my partner  :)

8.  Next geek project?  Underwater level Mario bathroom.  Already have a Nintendo sign above that door  ^^

Oh mom…

Mom: I called you. Where were you?

Me: Out with friends.

Mom: Oh?! You went out?!

Me: Yeah.

Mom: With Snow Tigra (this is my partner)?

Me: No, she’s at work.

Mom: Ooooooooh!

Me: *thinking* jeez was I really that antisocial before that now my mom applauds me for going out? I mean, wow, does she think I just play on the interweb all day and… oh, new Persona pictures on tumblr, gimme!

As a friend of mine recently said to me and my partner, “I’ve seen some geeky rooms in my day, but never one like this from two girls.”  My partner and I bought a house last August and when we saw we have two extra bedrooms on the first floor we knew what to do.  One will be my office, for writing and art and things, and the second is… well, this  :)

Everything is hand drawn and painted by me and my partner.  She did the Sonic painting inside the closet and the Tetris on the side of it (which she decided to do a messed up game of Tetris instead of a perfect one since “this is what happens to me when I play).  She also painted Jack Frost on the side of the window, and we’re going to paint shadow Teddie above it since he looks so cool.  Meanwhile, I did the Konami code above the door, the Portal painting with Wheatley, the Starfox ship, and Katamari (she helped with the portal and Wheatley) in space, and the pac-man around the shelves.  The TMNT picture above the portal was also made by me.

Our ceiling is black, which we plan to paint a portal on the moon once we get the chance.  Portal 2 fans will know why  :)  We also are going to paint a MegaMan level above one of the windows because we got an awesome 2D MegaMan item from Anime Milwaukee.  Also thinking about getting the King of all Cosmos on the ceiling, too.

All of the figures, video games, manga, anime, blu rays, standees, and everything is a combination of all of our things.  Once we got out of the apartment we had much more room to spread things out.  There’s more figures in our living room, more of the "fancier” or high quality ones, like a lot of our comic book figures and such.  The living room is also where all of the game systems are (but we’re trying to figure out how to make room in the Geek Room – which this room is called – for the Magnovox Odyssey my dad just straight up GAVE me)

The Geek Room does NOT have all of our figures, there’s still some randomly in boxes that we need to get out  ^^;;;  Our next project is painting the bathroom next to the Geek Room in an underwater Mario theme.  We already have the walls painted blue and all of my little Mario figures are around the sink.

So, in conclusion, my geekery spreads across everything, clearly.  I’m lucky to have a fantastic partner who’s just as geeky as me (she’s more anime while I’m more video games, but combined it makes wonderful things like this).
