So yeah, my finale step in accepting myself is taking my own advice and feeling proud of the way I look by flaunting it. I am way happier looking at these photos and feeling genuinely beautiful than looking at a scale and getting excited when I loose weight. Weight is not a measurement of health, your self worth and definitely not your beauty. Let aloe your right to wear a bathing suit when it’s hot as hell! You earned that body, it’s beautiful because it belongs to you!

I’m not even going to lie, when I decided to come out this was something I was afraid of, because my wifey is white. I was scared that I was going to get so much shit because, back home in Chicago, pretty much everyone I knew (family and friends) were black and I was so scared that they’d give me shit. I like, mentally prepared myself for comments, I went in battle ready. They didn’t say anything, which is great, but even being back home I always have this voice in the back of my head like, “You’re walking around with a white girl, someone is going to say something."
Honestly, the big fallout with my dad, this was something he brought up to my mom. I heard him in the basement talking to her (he didn’t know I could hear him) and he said something like, "Now she’s dating some white person.” Which was such a hard slap to the face, ESPECIALLY since he has dated outside the race. His previous girlfriend was Mexican, but somehow I guess that was more o.k. than me dating a white girl. Like somehow there’s levels to interracial, like since he had been with another minority it was somehow o.k. compared to me dating a white girl. He not only had issue with her gender, but her race, and while I was expecting the gender issue I was NOT expecting the race issue.
We’ve patched things up since then, as my friends know (this was back in college), but I still will never forget how I felt when I heard him say that to my mom.
Who is this pretty lady? Why, this is my wifey! Also known.as the one who makes my costumes, the one who makes me feel pretty, the one who makes the hats and plushies and things, my coauthor for “Seeking the Storyteller,” the one who drives us to conventions, the one who deals with my video game madness, the one who chuckles when I spaz over anime, and a bunch of other things that didn’t come with the job application of putting up with me.
And today is her birthday.

Hi my name is Chibi and I take terrible pictures of me and my wifey and stuff.
No but seriously this is my wifey and she is the best. She makes all of my costumes and is geeky with me. She watches me play video games and I wouldn’t be a huge anime nerd without her introducing me to more than DBZ 12 years ago. We go to conventions together, and we’re writing a book series together (the first one is being published!), and we make crafts together.
Most importantly, she loves me for me :) She loves my size. my writing, and my dorky ways. She’s a big part of why I’m so into cosplay, and when I ever start to feel doubtful she’s there to remind me that I can rock it ^^
Oh and the future Mortal Kombat wedding was her idea. She’s designed dresses and everything *__*
