Thankfully the email came from my old academic adviser so using my actual response of EEE won’t seem weird :)
This is the information on the WGS Alumni Award:
Given to a WS alumnus who has excelled in his/her profession, made outstanding contributions to women’s and gender studies issues/human welfare and/or provided service to their communities.
So we’ll be going to my college on April 25th :) I haven’t been back at Iowa State for years, so this’ll be fun!
Achievement unlocked! First corset is here! I got it for cosplay purposes (which I’ll post more of on my page) but, tonight, was definitely for fun ^^ I spent the whole time talking about my bewbs because that’s what I do.
STORM! Mistress of the elements! At least my attempt with the wig I got last night so forgive my silly face ^^;;; I really hope I do her justice! Black headband will be upgraded to her actual head piece by the time the cosplay is done :)

So my wifey decided to play with some wire and beads to create a new style of crown for my Tiana :) These are just some test pictures with the crown, but I hope to wear it with the full costume for Anime Milwaukee!
I wonder sometimes what else is in our basement because she literally came upstairs with these things!

I never expected to have followers who wanted to meet me, or who decided to cosplay because of me, and just… it’s been kind of surreal, and I still don’t quite know how to react except to just keep smiling :)
So here’s to more plus sized cosplay, more black girl geekery, more of me and my wifey going to cons and advertising our art and our book, and just… here’s to all of that.

So I do have more Daisho con pictures, but I wanted to post this one, because this was the con of me meeting fans… of me. Which really, really blew my mind because I was not expecting it at all, and I really hope I didn’t sound too much like a flustered blubbering mess of “OMG YOU FOLLOW ME?!” But I probably did.
Anyhow, this is just one of the pictures, but I wanted to share it because this guy was a real sweetie. He was really polite to the point of asking if it was o.k. if he put his arm around me for a picture. I didn’t catch his name, though :( But he follows my tumblr, so whoever you are it was really great to meet you <3
And randomly on Facebook Daisho cosplay staff asked if I would be a judge next year for their cosplay competition and do a panel because they think I’m awesome and didn’t realize I was there? And just… uh… wow, holy wow!
