Time for another Hunters snippet.  This scene takes place as the group fights against the big bad evil that has taken hold of the Storyteller.  Unfortunately, said evil force happens to be Dox’s father, and Dox has no choice but to listen to him.  This causes some tension between Dox and Cyn, but maybe it’s the push the girl needs.

Notes:  I like this part because it shows off a lot of supernatural powers from the Storyteller, Dox, and Cyn, and who doesn’t like a bit of supernatural powers, hm?

More Hunters for you guys  :)  It’s getting a bit more difficult to post parts because there’s parts I want to keep a secret (shhh!), but maybe I can post bits from the second story, since that’s still in progress.  

Status of this story:  Complete, with agent and publisher interest  :)

Story thus far:  The Storyteller is a creature of unimaginable power.  It’s said that he lives in a large library full of books that cover everyone human and demon life.  However, the Storyteller is being  controlled by a dark creature called the Lurkhamara.  Alix and Fagan — humans who hunt demons for a living — end up teaming up with a small group of demons to rescue the Storyteller, but a living shadow with the power to make things happen with just a word isn’t the easiest opponent to face, especially when said shadow’s son is close to one of the demons in the group.

Inspiration:  I saw something that asked about the hardships people go through who are in the GLBT community.  There are two kinds of hardships, to me.  There’s the hate we always see, the slurs and bashing and whatnot, and then there’s the stuff that this piece is about.  Sometimes it’s the quieter words that are the most harmful.  A lot of times kids/teenagers are told that they’re “too young” to understand things when adolescence is, to me, the most judgmental time of a person’s life.  

There’s times when someone feels like they get it and they’re flat out told “no” if it doesn’t fit “the norm,” that they’re “too young” and “don’t get it,” which I think, in a way, is just as damaging as the blatant ”in your face” hate because people don’t realize how harmful it is, they think they’re doing something good in saying such things, and a lot of times… they’re not.  The worst part is that they honestly do mean well, you know?  Parents mean well, they want what’s best for their children, so they honestly do think that saying such things is not only o.k., but necessary.

So, here’s my pieces, for now.  It’s ongoing and just me putting words together, really, that I might put together into a thing later.

Here in the Midwest, we had a bit of a last minute snow storm that seemed to come out of nowhere after days of sunshine and things melting.  Of course, my Rise of the Guardians mind just shook its head and wagged a finger at Jack.

You know, there’s something quite odd about dreams.  We all have them, you know?  We all have things we aspire to be “when we grow up,” and we spend so much time working to make those dreams come true.  We work hard to make things happen, and we face rejection, and we cry and we get up and we try again.  We’re told to keep trying, and we do, we keep going.  

The confusion happens when those dreams actually start coming together, when they start to come true.

It’s an odd feeling, really, for this whole writing process to be going somewhere.  I’ve had a lot of rejections, to the point of just, you know, being prepared for them.  I always prepare for the no, so much so that I’m not quite sure how to comprehend the yes.  I’ve been hearing “yes” a lot lately, and I’m not quite sure what to do.  I’ve been getting a lot of “congratulations” and “it’s about time,” and it’s not like I don’t agree — I do — but… I’m so use to “no” that I feel at odds when I hear “yes.”

Dreams are coming true now, and I’m typing this feeling really emotional, and it’s frustrating because I don’t know how to explain it.  I mean, I know this is just a blank author’s page, but… it’s the start to something, something big, something I’ve always wanted and have worked so hard for…

… now that it’s here… what does one do?

1.  The thing about having it all is that, in reality, he doesn’t.

It’s an illusion, really, that other people see when they look at him.

For one thing, there’s no clear meaning as to what all even is, what constitutes it, and how one goes about obtaining it.  He gets the superficial meaning, of course — looks, money, popularity — but is that, really, all?  

Despite this, whatever all is, he’s fairly certain that he wants to keep it — or so he’s told by everyone around him.  Apparently, he’s lucky to have it all, so lucky, in fact, that they wish they had it, themselves.  Therefore, he’d be a fool to let it go.

So he keeps himself locked tightly in his closet, safe, where he can keep it all.

2.   She wishes there was a handbook on who the one is and how to obtain such a person.  She hears her friends and family talking about it all the time, or rather, the female friends and family in her life.  What she knows so far is this: the one is someone she is destined to find, either by her own attempts or by sheer luck of the draw.  The one is someone she is supposed to desire, to the point of bettering herself to make herself appealing to the one.  

But most importantly, the one?  Male.  Definitely male.  

… right?

In which my morning drabble ramblings touch topics that are personal to me (particularly the second one for reasons)  May expand on these later?

This story means a lot to me.  It’s the first original story I’ve completed of this length and the one I’ve been trying to get published.  At the moment, there’s actually a publisher interested and I’m reading over the contract, so yay!  It’s come a long way, like most writings tend to do.  I actually started it back in college, got to about chapter five I believe, and then… everything changed — including my style of writing.  The main character is completely different than he was before, the ending is different, there’s characters who weren’t there before… it’s just all a part of the writing process.

This scene snippet takes place about, hmmm… close to the hallway mark, I’d say.  I hope you all enjoy it, and look forward to seeing it published *keeps fingers crossed about that*

Quick Summary:  It’s just another dead ex-rockstar for detective Alex Sampson.  When Frank Marko is found dead in his luxury condo, police find that the only clue to his untimely demise is a small butterfly resting by the body.  It turns out that there’s an auction that happens in the city where the wealthy and glamorous get together and bid on rare animals.  However, these animals hold a secret: they can turn human like us.  These pets are more than willing to be loyal and obedient, but there’s one rule you must always follow by:

Treat them kindly.  Or else.

Genre:  Urban Supernatural, Mystery, Crime Thriller

Warnings:  (for this part)  blood, gore, disturbing imagery, violence

Random Note:  This story is probably the most violent thing I’ve ever written.  Oddly enough, my mother absolutely loves it, lol!

So I can only work on my super smutty story “Voyeur something” at home for obvious reasons, so I was working on it tonight.  I thought I would end the evening with a snippet since the first part of it is close to being done  :) 

Summary:  A series of three short stories that all link together with one main theme: voyeurism.  If all goes according to my plan, this will (hopefully) be a book series.  I have like… two books planned so far, well… two and a half, with notes written in a notebook

So here’s a list of the original things I’m working on that I will, most likely, post snippets of.  Also, I’ll keep posting fandom writings here, since it keeps things more organized that way  :)

• Treat Me Kindly:  This is my first completely novel, yay, written all by myself!  It’s urban supernatural, and is about a detective trying to solve a murder case where the only clue is a butterfly.  It turns out that the butterfly and other animals found at an exclusive, wealthy auction can actually turn human.  The animals are very loyal… unless if you mistreat them, then…  

Status of this project:  Completed, with a publisher interested, OMG!  Reading over the contract, man, this is really a process  ^^;;  I’ll probably post parts of it soon.  It… will have a bunch of warnings, it’s a rather dark story. 

• Hunters:  Seeking the Storyteller:  The joint story with my partner.  This too is urban supernatural.  In the world of demons there exists a being known as the Storyteller.  It’s said that he lives in a massive library where he has the power to change people’s lives as easily as writing a book and putting it on a shelf.  Such an ability is useful to Alix Andre DeBenit, a man who usually hunts demons down.  However, someone like the Storyteller can certainly help bring back the things Alix has lost.  Except… the Storyteller is being controlled by a terrible creature, and Alix and his partner, Randall Fagan, might have to work with the very creatures they hunt in order to stop a war.

Status of this project:  Complete with an agent showing interest, and with a publisher showing interest.  It has its own blog here:  Hunter’s Blog.  This has 7 books planned out between me and my partner  :)  The second story is written and in the rough draft phase right now.  Takes place here in Minneapolis.  

• Double H:  A gay romance with a supernatural murder mystery twist.  Gable Peterson is told one day that his boyfriend, Avery Blair, is dead.  Afterwards, Gable closes his eyes and dreams of a time when Avery was still alive.  Much to his surprise, when he wakes up, Avery is, indeed, alive.  Somehow, Gable has gone back to the last day he saw Avery before he went missing, giving him a chance to protect his boyfriend.  But is he really capable of protecting his lover from a killer who targets gay men?  There’s already been three victims, is Avery destined to be victim number four?

Status of this project:  Just finished this last weekend!  Rereading it, writing up a query letter/summary, and sending it to publishers *keeps fingers crossed*

• That certain… genesis quad?  A story to try and get into an upcoming Dreamspinner Anthology dealing with regaining that spark in your love life.  
• Steampunk idea (untitled for now):  Another story idea to try for an upcoming Dreamspinner Anthology that deals with Steampunk.

So yes, expect bits from these things along with crazy headcanons I do to take a break from original writings and such  :)  Thanks for following!  And I’m glad everyone seemed to enjoy that Persona 4 pony headcanon thing  ^^
