Pinky and the Brain appreciation post! You know, nostalgia stuff does really well at conventions, but something about Pinky and the Brain in particular seems to put a smile on everyone’s faces. I have fond memories of watching the show with my mom, so when I make a coaster with them on it I always end up smiling, too :)

Only to end up meeting a man with a hook for a hand, stumble into a car jacking, meet a car jacking crime organization, sing the blues with some of the only black people in the 80s, run into a gang on the subway, watch 15-year-old get stabbed in the foot, go to a frat party, meet Thor (ok that part’s cool I don’t even…), and watch a 9-year-old slide down the side of the tallest fucking building ever?
Oh and find said boyfriend cheating on you at Chez Restaurante for cheaters. Don’t worry, the 15-year-old you’re babysitting will gladly be your rebound.
So I’m watching the Rainbow Brite movie on Netflix…
Yeah don’t judge me, it’s actually pretty entertaining! Even if I was 2 years old when it was first released back in 1985!
I wanted to do something with the ponies and the heart-shaped coasters I have, so I thought, “Why not have the old school ponies with the new?” First up is Pinkie Pie :) It’s so much of a difference I swear! I sometimes forget how the old ponies look despite owning some of them as a kid ^^;;;
Posting progress pictures as I go just because :) As I said before, I had to sketch the grid on the mirror with pencil, but now I’m painting in the pieces to create an 8-bit mario :) It’s more than halfway done now, I have to do the overalls and maybe touch up the red a bit more (the mirror is finished wood, so it takes a couple of coats of paint to get it to really stand out).
In random news I haven’t woodburned anything all day >.< Fortunately, I close tomorrow, so I should have time :)
I’m a kid of the 80s. A couple of years ago I had this huge hit of nostalgia, remembering all of the classic cartoons I would watch. I try to have something nostalgic at my table all the time because I love making it.
