So I got to write a really fun blog post for “The Curvy Fashionista” about the different ways I cosplay! I’m really excited about it because I absolutely love the blog and have been following it for a while. Feel free to check it out at this link full of my dorky face <3 <3 <3
The post has some of the cosplays pictured above, while the other pics are just me sharing cuz I feel like it :)
This year was unintentionally the year of doing different cosplays from series I’ve cosplayed before, lol. Previous cosplay is on the left, with new cosplay on the right <3 Everything made by the wifey, as always <3
Extra bonus note: the dragon pocket is functional.
Special thanks to the wonderful lady who had the dress commissioned. We’re about the same size so I got to try it on and take a few pics to show what it looks like. I’m really excited that the wifey is doing more geeky dresses like this and that more people like our work enough to want to commission us for dress designs and outfits <3
If I sit here and wait for someone to come out with a black, female, plus sized character… I would never end up cosplaying. So I cosplay characters based on who I love, not based on who I look like, because if I did… I’d miss out on all the fun.
Don’t miss out on the fun. Cosplay characters you love. Cosplay outfits you love. Alter outfits into a style you love. Sew. Purchase. Commission. Dig in your closet. Cosplay who you want, however you want, have fun, and love yourself while you’re doing it.
All cosplay I wear is made by my lovely wifey of 13 years, Snow Cosplays (also she’s the Belle in the Tiana picture). The Sailor Moon, Mario, and Wonder Woman dress designs are mine :)
Special shout out to Beth from Verssen Werks for being an adorable Daisy.
Sometimes it’s fun to just see what you have in your closet and turn it into cosplay. Agent Carter on the top, and Minnie Mouse on the bottom, all from stuff I had in my closet :)
Agent Carter consists of a blue dress I hadn’t worn in a while and that I actually stopped liking until I paired it with the red hat that I had and the red shoes. I wore it to see Avengers 2 then wore it again Sunday at ACEN and was quite surprised with the amount of people who recognized what I was going for.
Minnie Mouse consists of a dress I got from Torrid a few weeks before I got this idea follow by a pair of black leggings, white socks, and shoes I’ve had for years. The buns are made with two drawstring ponytails. The only new thing I bought was the red bow and a pair of gloves (not pictured), costed less than $10.
There’s no one way to cosplay. You can sew, you can buy, you can alter, you can commission, you can thrift store shop, you can see what’s already in your wardrobe. Do whatever you want. Get creative, and have fun <3
This is the story of a geeky anime/gaming gal by the name of Chibi. Please fasten your seat belts and prepare for... some sort of ride? Oh! I love to write, and I also love doing crafty things. I go to conventions with my partner and sell woodburned things, clocks, mirrors, and more! So expect to see those on here too :)
