The Inner Workings of a Chibi.

*incoherent noises*

So Princess Tiana went amazingly well at Animinneapolis (like better than expected, like thank you so much everyone for making me want to wear the hell out of this dress, because I don’t have the best confidence in the world in regards to cosplay sometimes so really, thank you.  Same thanks and love to the people of Anime Central back in May).  For some reason the only picture I have is from Anime Iowa, I really need to get into the habit of taking pictures of my cosplay ^^;;;

Anyhow, we were thinking of other versions of Tiana to do and whatnot while we were at our table during Animinneapolis.  We already have a plan for Disney Princess armor, but then babe mentioned that there’s a Jim Shore version of her dress.  For those who don’t know, Jim Shore does these ridiculously beautiful statues of the princesses with all sorts of fancy designs, like the Belle dress I have.  So she showed me a picture.

Oh.  My.  God!

The picture she was thinking of was much simplier, but I guess this is a newer one he’s done.  I’m screaming.  I really, really want this dress  *__*  Look at how pretty it is!  I’m on a mission to convince my partner to make it, because she does such a wonderful job on all of my costumes (her name is snowtigra go show her some love she’s my magical needle and thread lady).

Notes:  Once upon a time ago I cosplayed a human version of Queen Minnie from Kingdom Hearts.  Someday, I’d like to redo this cosplay, now that I know the wonders of petticoats and things like that.  This was the first big dress I wore in my cosplay career, so I have to give thanks to it, because it eventually lead to Princess Peach, Tiana, Belle, and all the future fancy dresses I’ll wear  :)  The “ears” are done with hair, instead of wearing mouse ears  ^^  Also, the Mickey Mouse is wearing one of the outfits he wears in the game, the clothes for him are also made by my partner along with the dress.

I can’t stop posting costumes someone please help!

One of the best things about cosplay is becoming that character, not just to yourself, but to the people around you.  Yes, sometimes, people say nasty things if you are a certain race or body type, but other times, magic happens.  I know it sounds cheesy calling it “magic” but there’s no other way to describe it.

Case in point: this picture.

While walking around a convention one day in my Peach cosplay (completely with frying pan, because I’m a strong, independent princess who don’t need no plumber savin’ me) I walked pass this kid dressed like a Power Ranger.  The kid stopped, stared at me, and I smiled and waved to him.  He immediately ran up to me and was like, “Are you Princess Peach?!”  I smiled more and said, “Yes, I am.”  He was so incredibly happy, like, he actually believed that I was Princess Peach, like I had walked out of the video game to walk around the hallway at an anime convention.

It’s here that I realize that despite the nasty things that are said about cosplayers sometimes, for whatever reason, the true beauty of doing this is for moments like that, when someone really, truly believes that this character is real.  They don’t look at race, size, gender, or things like that.  They don’t care.  To them, you really are that character, and you just made their day a thousand times better.

So I knelt down, wrapped my arm around him, and he put on his Power Rangers mask so we could take a picture with him.  Afterwards, he proceeded to demonstrate some awesome Power Ranger moves for me, to which I just smiled and clapped for him before his sister smiled and told him that they should be on their way.  Then, she thanked me, because she knew that I had made that kid’s day.

To which I replied, “No, thank you.”

And more of my cosplay.  I swear I don’t have that many costumes  ^^;;;  This one comes with a story and a cute kid  :)
