The Inner Workings of a Chibi.

You can be a princess. You can be a queen. You can even be a goddess. You can be anything you want: to love your cosplay is to love yourself.

obsol33t:

This is me. This is my body. This is my insecurities.

I am five foot and five inches tall, I weigh 177lbs, and this took a lot of balls to post.

I’m kinda chubby, I have a muffin top, I’m riddled in stretch marks, I have a bit of a double chin, acne on my chest, and I have rolls in weird spots on my body.

This doesn’t make me any less of a person.

Every time I go to family gatherings, all I hear is “Oh, you’ve put on so much weight!” Or “Wow, you need to do something about those stretch marks!”

Like, how could you even say that to someone?

Let me tell you a thing.

It’s a vicious fucking cycle.

You gain/lose weight/have more breakouts than usual, family points it out, you get sad, it gets worse.

If someone has put on some weight, DONT MENTION IT.

If someone looks a little too thin, DONT MENTION IT.

If someone has body hair in places you’re not used to seeing it, DONT MENTION IT.

If someone has acne, DONT MENTION IT.

If someone has stretch marks, DONT MENTION IT.

If someone has crooked teeth, DONT MENTION IT.

TRUST ME. WE ARE ALL FULLY FUCKING AWARE OF OUR FLAWS.

So instead of calling them out on something “wrong” with their body and completely shredding any ounce of confidence they had managed to muster up that day, just find something nice about the person and compliment them.

You do so much more good saying “that’s a cute dress” than saying “you need to lose/gain a little weight.”

Just try it sometime. You might actually sleep better at night.

Bless this woman  <3

Let’s create a couple of scenarios.

Let’s say I decided to cosplay Catwoman. Someone might tell me, “You’re too fat to cosplay her” or “fat cat.”

All right, fine. Let’s say one of the women I follow, who is skinny, says they want to cosplay Catwoman. Except their black. Someone might tell them, “Catwoman isn’t black” or “Check it out, ghetto Catwoman.”

All right. Fine. Let’s say that another woman I follow, who is skinny, and white, says that they want to cosplay Catwoman. Someone might tell them, “That cosplay is too slutty” or “attention whore.”

This right here is why there’s no point in stressing about such negative comments. Same character in each scenario, only different levels of negativity. This is why, my number one advice, is to smile and cosplay who you want

So here’s a smile from me to you

***

Bonus scenario: So then you may start to envy the male cosplayers of the world, thinking that they must have it so easy. Then you see a picture of a male cosplayer with a caption like, “He tried, I guess?” Or even see statements like, “Male cosplay is so boring” “Superman really let himself go, huh?” “What’s up with this Wolverine?"

So, everyone? Smile, on the count of three: 1. 2. 3!

(also special thanks to Nude Carbon Studios for the Tiana pic!)

Just finished up an interview for Heroes United Against Cosplay Bullying! It was via Skype so I wore Peach, which is the cosplay I was bullied in last year. It’s hard to believe that something I was bashed in could be used so positively :) Always...

Just finished up an interview for Heroes United Against Cosplay Bullying! It was via Skype so I wore Peach, which is the cosplay I was bullied in last year. It’s hard to believe that something I was bashed in could be used so positively  :)  Always remember, cosplay is all about having fun portraying the characters you love.  Cosplay is for everyone.  Period.

So in case you missed it (though it’s been on my blog all day) I got some pretty racist/fat bashing remarks about my Princess Peach cosplay, ranging from calling me a whale, to Precious, to using the frying pan to fry chicken, and all sorts of things.  It’s been blowing up quite a bit since a bunch of you are apparently amazing individuals who I want to snuggle, because you’ve been reblogging and commenting and all sorts of things.

So in honor of this I made fried chicken, you know, since that’s all us fat black gals eat.

Here’s all sorts of links:

The post with the fried chicken comment and other un-creative cracks at me.

My actual heartfelt response to provide encouragement to people who are afraid of this happening to them.

I would post everyone’s responses but there have seriously been an overwhelming amount, so thank you all  :)

Edit:  Added some cosplay pictures so you can see the costume and such  :)

Edit Number Two:  My Cosplay Page, I can’t believe I forgot to link it!
