So my wifey decided to play with some wire and beads to create a new style of crown for my Tiana :) These are just some test pictures with the crown, but I hope to wear it with the full costume for Anime Milwaukee!
I wonder sometimes what else is in our basement because she literally came upstairs with these things!
Fun story time! So that quote I posted from Whoopi Goldberg about Star Trek and seeing a black lady on T.V. who wasn’t a maid? Here’s my moment like that.
When I was a kid I watched a bunch of cartoons (when I was a kid, lol I still watch a lot of cartoons). Then I remember hearing about this new show called “X-Men.” I wasn’t big into comics at the time (just the occasional Sonic the Hedgehog one), but I just thought it looked like a cool show.
Then I saw Storm and flipped out.
I couldn’t believe she was black! And just as powerful as everyone else, and intelligent too! Before that the only black lady I remember seeing in my cartoons was the woman in Tom and Jerry that showed up sometimes like, “Thoooomas!” You never saw her face. Ever. You saw her from the waist down, and she carried a broom around and would like, swat him with it if he was acting up. That was about it. I mean there were black men like Fat Albert and stuff, and even some random sports cartoon with Michael Jordan (before Space Jam, it was some random sports superhero show?) and even MC Hammer had a cartoon (no joke, look it up). But a woman? A black woman? With powers too? Who would fight too?
I just stared at the T.V. for a long time.
I mean growing up, I didn’t really realize how much I wanted a black girl in my geekery until I saw Storm. I had this huge WOW moment, then kinda went, “… wow wait is this the only one in my geekery?” And it really was. Like I didn’t think about how that made me feel until that first episode when they’re in the mall and the Sentinels show up and she transforms into Storm, it was like, “Holy shit no way, no way! She’s not just a background character shopping at the mall?!” Then there was this moment of, “… wow this is the first time I have seen a black woman be something important in my cartoons.”
I think this is why I love Tiana so much (besides other reasons of her just being a great character). But now I’m old enough to appreciate how her presence effects people. Like now some kid is going to go into the Disney store and see her doll like, “WOW,” like I did with Storm all those years ago. Like now when the family goes to Disney world and sees the princesses, she’ll be there :) I mean I love all of the princesses, you know, but that just hits home. Like, “Hey sweetie, there’s one that looks like you, and she’s just as special as all the other ones."
O.K. sappy moment over now.
Ok but this is one of my favorite Disney endings because they decided to be happy together as frogs rather than try and find a way to be human and by finding that happiness they got to be humans again like that is rad as hell thank you Disney
And then she got her restaurant and he worked there too. He didn’t give her the restaurant she earned it and she got her dream through hard work. There wasn’t this moment of, “Now that she’s a princess she will magically get what she wants with a blink of an eye,” it was like, “Hey look she got her restaurant because she kept trying and has skills,” and it’s not like it’s his restaurant or he bought it and gave it to her it was like, “Nope, all hers, and he’s serving tables and supporting her because he loves her, she’s in charge of the place and he accepts that.”
This is why I love Tiana so much :) I mean yeah I went in with my biased OMG BLACK PRINCESS WOOT but then after seeing the movie it was like “Oh snap she’s amazing and he’s amazing and everything is amazing!”
Oh man then the wifey comes upstairs with a pile of fabric and whips up a mock dress jeez! Now I really do need to cosplay this for real!

And even more hoodie sketches done! Some were requested, some were just ones I wanted to do. All of these are hoodies my wifey could make for you! Or feel free to make a request There’s more details on the listing here,
1. Tardis hoodie: With the sign on the front and the door pattern on the sleeves. The back would be all blue. The pocket on the front finishes off what the rest of the sign says. This one would take a bit of research on how to get letters onto fabric, but my wifey is up for the challenge
2. Death the Kid: Made to look like his outfit with the hood made to look like his hair.
3. Knuckles the Echidna: With the spikes on the back of the hood and his glove as part of the sleeve. The little trim on the bottom is made to look like his shoes.
4. Princess Tiana: Made to look like her green dress with leaves on the bottom and on the hood. There’s also a little flower, too.
5. Mario Question Block: A brick pattern for the sleeves and the bottom trim, with the question block in the center (also would be on the back) with a brown hood.
6. Charlotte hood: From Madoka Magica, based on a really cool Venom hood I saw someone wearing. It zips all the way up to cover your face, with Charlotte’s face now covering your own. The tongue would hang out of the mouth as well. The hood itself would be all black with red polka dots.
So that’s all of them As far as these being made, they would be made to order. We would ask for your measurements so we could make it to fit you perfectly ^^ You can also make requests, as in, maybe you want the sleeves shorter or no sleeves at all, or maybe you don’t want a hood. It’s up to you, we would make it to your tastes ^^
Have some Holiday Princess Tiana cosplay <3 Will most likely take better pictures later once we have snow and stuff, or a tree or something. I didn’t wear it for very long because the con hotel was pretty warm, but we did at least get this picture :)

More Daisho pictures to come, most are on my wifey’s camera, including me with my Lottie, and my wifey working my Belle dress. OMG you guys we got stopped SO MUCH and I ran into people who were fans of me and I couldn’t believe it at all and just EVERYONE AT THIS CON HAS BEEN SO WONDERFUL THAT I HAVE TO USE ALL CAPS.
And to top it all off I get to end this weekend with a bunch of Persona announcements AND picking my mama up from the airport on the way home for her week vacation with us for Thanksgiving OMG WHY IS LIFE SO PERFECT RIGHT NOW?!
Question time! So for the Holiday Geek Expo I will be wearing Tiana and doing a holiday version. This will be my current cosplay, a santa hat, and the little over coat in this picture. My question: should the over coat be the green to match the dress, OR should it be red to match the santa hat and go along with the holiday theme?
