Con season is coming up so it’s time to plug in the woodburner and grab the paintbrushes! Progress pictures to final product of a Sailor Moon Crystal woodburning I just finished.

I also really enjoyed this part, just her whole, “Don’t worry, I got this,” attitude and then catching him off guard, I really like how Usagi acts in Crystal. I like her, “There’s a lot going on and I’m not that powerful but you know what whatever I’m gonna go do it,” and just… she’s easily one of my favorite characters. All of them are, actually <3
When you have to wait a whole week for episode 2
Yep, binge watching has spoiled us all.
Whatever Sailor Moon Crystal is 2 weeks apart.
Because I apparently have a need to do crazy projects before a con. Sailor Moon Crystal woodburning/painting is done! How it came to be:
1. Man that image is gorgeous I wanna woodburn the thing.
2. Sketch the thing.
3. Woodburn the parts I want to be burned and wonder why I have these ideas the week before a con.
4. Paint with acrylic paint. Notice that the bow is all little dots. Once again question my sanity but grab a pencil, dip it in paint, and go.
I still have to put the protective coating on it, but for now it’s complete and ready for Anime Fusion :)
I honestly am not thrilled that Naoko Takeuchi is working on Sailor Moon Crystal. I dislike a lot of the radically feminist tones of Crystal (I.e., the very blatantly feminist theme song, Tuxedo Mask being written out whenever possible), which I can only assume were her doing.

Like, who has EVER looked at Sailor Moon and thought “nope, nothing feminist about this here story all about women who are strong and capable and kick ass in heels and nail polish.”?
And of course, Tuxedo Mask being written out of everything totally explains why he’s in every episode and gives Sailor Moon advice and strength, yup yup.“I’m not thrilled that the creator of Sailor Moon is working on Sailor Moon”

im super sad they made the greatest scene in the history of television into a 3d lazy thing but i love it none the less because omg new sailor mooon
3D or no I don’t think it looks bad! I love the more dynamic angles.
I don’t know where this assumption that 3D animation is lazy comes from, especially when it comes to making 3D animation LOOK like 2D animation.
This is AWESOME.

I actually really love the hyper-stylized anatomy in Crystal.
I love the giraffe legs. I love the big chunky feet. I love the spindly super-articulated needle-point fingers. I love the sharp corners that their elbows and knees and wrists create.
They look like giants. They look like they could crush mortals under their feet. They aren’t soft, round, childlike moeblobs. They’re here to fuck shit up.
