We’re in the final week of the magnifiqueNOIR Kickstarter! We may have a long way to go but a lot can happen in a week! There’s still time to bring these magical girls to life! Keep sharing, keep pledging, keep talking about it, keep at it! We can definitely make this work <3 <3 <3
Remember: You are Magical :)
To celebrate 100 backers (WHOO!) I wanted to share a picture with all of you. One of the freebees you get from pledging is a coloring page of all the girls cosplaying. I colored it in to show one of the ways you can color it. You can also print it out and color it that way, too, which I’ll share a pic of later.
This coloring page was actually drawn by ME! I don’t do too much drawing, to be honest. I’m usually writing or crafting, so this is the first project I’ve had where I’ve done some illustrations (this coloring page and the mini comics that’ll be in the book).
Thank you so much, everyone, for your continued support. We have two weeks left so let’s make this happen! Share! Pledge! Drink hot chocolate because it’s tasty!
Keep at it, magical ones <3

Hey everyone! We’re getting ready for A-Kon this weekend! If you’re going to be in the area, you should totally come check us out! We have a table in artist alley that’ll have our crafts, our books, and new merchandise for my black, queer, magical girl series! I’ll also be cosplaying all weekend (or wearing something geeky). The table pic is an example of what our booth looks like, and I’m happy to say that we’ll have even more stuff to check out :)
See you then!
So I got to write a really fun blog post for “The Curvy Fashionista” about the different ways I cosplay! I’m really excited about it because I absolutely love the blog and have been following it for a while. Feel free to check it out at this link full of my dorky face <3 <3 <3
The post has some of the cosplays pictured above, while the other pics are just me sharing cuz I feel like it :)
This year was unintentionally the year of doing different cosplays from series I’ve cosplayed before, lol. Previous cosplay is on the left, with new cosplay on the right <3 Everything made by the wifey, as always <3
Lately, my wifey and I have been sketching geeky dress designs and bringing them to life. I sketched these two designs and she made them :)
I’m a fat, black, magical girl and no one can tell me otherwise <3 <3 <3

If I sit here and wait for someone to come out with a black, female, plus sized character… I would never end up cosplaying. So I cosplay characters based on who I love, not based on who I look like, because if I did… I’d miss out on all the fun.
Don’t miss out on the fun. Cosplay characters you love. Cosplay outfits you love. Alter outfits into a style you love. Sew. Purchase. Commission. Dig in your closet. Cosplay who you want, however you want, have fun, and love yourself while you’re doing it.
That’s what cosplay is all about :)

All cosplay I wear is made by my lovely wifey of 13 years, Snow Cosplays (also she’s the Belle in the Tiana picture). The Sailor Moon, Mario, and Wonder Woman dress designs are mine :)
Special shout out to Beth from Verssen Werks for being an adorable Daisy.
Cosplay line-up for Anime Iowa!!!
Friday morning/afternoon: Sonic dress
Friday evening (opening ceremonies): Wonder Woman
Saturday morning/afternoon: Dr. Facilier
Saturday evening/Masquerade judging: Mario
Sunday: Minnie Mouse
We’re headed out tomorrow! Can’t wait to be a guest this weekend and see everyone! We’ll have a booth in the vendor hall and will most likely be there when not running a panel or whatever other guest things we’ll be doing :) Feel free to stop by to check out our books, crafts, cosplay, geekery, hugs, and all that jazz <3
Insecure thoughts are going to happen, they just will. Even with all of my confidence I still have that paranoid voice in my head, that kid who was called “weird” for liking anime and video games, she still talks to me like, “They’re going to make fun of you,” “Remember when they made fun of you,” and I do worry – that’s normal. The worrying stops when the cosplay is done, I put it on, I look into the mirror, and I smile. Focus on that feeling of accomplishment when you finish that cosplay, because the only person you need to impress with your cosplay is you.
I wanted to share an interview my wifey and I got to do for Geek x Girls about our cosplay and body positivity and all that good stuff :)
All cosplay is made by my wifey Snow Tigra:) (and occasionally designed by me, like the Mario dress)
Pictures are by Nude Carbon Studios and X-Geek.
Interview is here :)
