Happy New Year, magical ones! I haven’t updated in FOREVER! The end of 2017 was full of conventions back to back so I didn’t have much time.

I wanted to say thank you for a really great launch of my book magnifiqueNOIR! It’s been about 3 months and the reception for it has been great! I’m gonna be pushing it even harder this year and I hope to have (at least) the rough draft for book two done by the end of the year! I’ll be approaching bookstores about carrying the book and, of course, I’m always looking for reviewers and places to feature it!

In case you want a taste of the Black Girl Magic going on with my queer magical girls, you can check them out here:

A bunch of stuff to talk about this morning!  We got some more “Seeking the Storyteller” art.  We got another excerpt you can check out.  And there’s an event where you can get the ebook for 99 cents.  You read that right, 99 cents!  For Mother’s Day weekend “Seeking the Storyteller” is on sale, so now is a great time to get it if you haven’t done so already!

Now, onto the fanart.  This piece of fanart is by the extremely talented Sean Iredale, who we met along with Tyler Hansen during Wizard World. This is Atticus, a villain who is whispered about in the first book who plays a major part throughout the series.  Sean really captured his scary epic power here.

Suddenly he was racing down the hallway, pushing open a set of large, double doors. Hanzo’s back was to him as he helped a young girl walk through a hidden passage in the wall. “Just go!” He screamed to her, “Your mother and I will catch up, I promise!”

But he had broken that promise.

Hanzo had never caught up and neither did the girl’s mother. Haven could now feel the choking sting of sadness against the back of his throat, could taste the regret, the anger, the fear. He knew that these feelings were coming from his dragon, but they were so strong that they gnawed at his stomach as if they were his own. He was the one who couldn’t protect his friends and family from this man, this man he did and did not know. This man, this Atticus, who floated above everything as the entire area crumbled around him. He could hear him laughing, the sound reverberating through his mind and his entire body.

So we had an artist do a sketch of one of the characters from “Seeking the Storyteller.” This is actually her look from the second book, which is in the works, but he captured her style perfectly. Her name is Katalynne Cove and she works for Randall Fagan, one of the Hunters in the story.

Here is the picture and an excerpt from her debut in the first book. Thanks goes to Chad Jasper of Freaky Atomic Robot Zombies Studios, whose website is here: http://www.farzstudios.com/MAIN/FREAKY_MAIN.html

“He was cleared of those charges,” Katalynne said, remembering the pointless mess she had to deal with a couple of months ago. Three dead bodies, two of which were students on campus, with the same evidence of a brutal sword attack but no proof that the sword belonged to her boss. “In fact, I believe you were in the courtroom at the time.”

“Doesn’t mean Randall Fagan isn’t a psychotic killer. The public has seen the pictures. There are bodies and sightings of him during the night in different neighborhoods. Just because the police can’t link the bodies doesn’t mean he’s not responsible.”

Katalynne rolled her eyes, disinterest in anything the woman had to say. “And I suppose you believe in his partner, Bigfoot, as well?”

Liza ignored the jest and kept pushing. “How about you, Ms. Cove? What exactly do you do for him that pays your bills? You left a highly lucrative job as a personal assistant for one of the leading law firms in the state to work for this man? What does he pay you for?”

“I pick up his dry cleaning.”
